Wow this looks cool :o .I really like your battle system, I think I might actually use it myself.The facesets looks too young ,but that doesn't bother me as long as you keep using that same art style for the whole game.The maps are Ok nothing special but that's not really important for this kind of game I guess.Your main focus are battles I assume which ,as I've said before look awesome.Have you thought of using custom huds for the battles.I'm willing to make you one if you want,pm me If you're interested.

Yes, I focused all on the battle system and features. I'm fine with current HUD. The main reason is I built this is for sample game of my battle system and here is how it looks when it combined with YEA Battle Engine. Moreover, I can't think of HUD. In the team, my friend usually give me the HUD mockup and I make the script. I just can't think better than default / YF's one.

Lunar: ~18+

Your Facesets are alright... Changing them would mess the chars up a bit I think... except for Stellar in my own opinion she completly looks like a little child... and she is behaving like one (and fairly useless xD except for the stun and throwing bottles.. )

This is my first attempt of making facesets and put them inside the game. Well, I had made facesets long time ago (not for these characters). But I never had a chance to put them in real game, in the game dialogues. I guess, I need to learn more.

 

Indeed she looks fairly useless in early game.  But her main role is to damage all enemies or stun them. I made it in this way was also to present how if you gonna use area attack. So, if you plan to use my battle system and want some skill to have area damage, you could see how I sequenced Stella's skills. The party composition itself is not that coincidence. There're melee attacker, magic, and ranged. And those composition represent most of RPG actors these days. 

 

About the story, well, that was a quick thought. I did want to make the story with many reason why did this, why did that. But I usually find that will gonna take much time. Heck, I'm going to present my battle system anyway. So, I only focused on character interaction. I'm not an expert writer xD

 

About the sequel... well, I already had an idea. And it will also to expand my battle system script features. In other word, I'm gonna make another sample game. Of course it will have different gameplay than this one.

The thing I really liked was the fact that Solei had more "moods/forms" like Blackforce and Flamecloak and that they actually affect a few from his skills (actually nearly all of them^^)... and your "hidden" rooms... except for the one without artifact... made me run around for nothing =P 

 

And about Stella... she is even worse in the late game... even after giving her artefacts that support her damage.. I even gave her the juwel that gives +10  strengh (it says 7 but that`s a mistake) and the shoes for a second turn and Solei did still more damage then her oO But I like useless Archertypes anyway... I only like it to see them die so it worked out for me XD

 

I found quit a few rooms but if i remember right i found nothing in floor 4.1-3 except for flay... was there a hidden room?

 

I am not sure what I had since it was quit a whyle ago but I know that i finished it on the second mood/mod? (Dunno the right word sorry normal I guess) playtime ~2h - 2h30min... I found ~6-7 artifacts if i remember right... and 10+ deaths (at least 8 from stella.. did you do something that they focus her or was i just lucky?)

 

And I am impressed that you made such a script on your own... I for my part have trouble only using a sideview script xD

 

Did you draw all of that youself? oO I can`t even draw a human that looks humanlike... 

Well the face is nice but I personally think she does look pretty young like that^^ I thought that she was Luna`s kid or something at the beginning for a second that followed him just for the sake of it XD

 

And you don´t need to be an expert writer... but at least saying why they want it what it can do and stuff is not much to ask... but hey i shouldn`t talk i never finished making a game yet since I am too bad for the easy stuff and since I refuse to make one without a sideview battle system xD There I go again^^ But whatever doesn`t matter since dungeon crawler doesn`t focus on the story (normally xD)^^ (And since I am trying to make a english one with my lacking english skills in that language...^^)

 

 

All in all it`s pretty good and the "bad" english is as funny as many from your dialogues =P

It`s a pretty good game if you like short games... I for my part prefer long games with a story^^ (RPG`s^^ but Dungeon Crawlers aren´t that but either^^)

 

Oh and sorry about the mess I dare too call a comment... I am too lazzy to organize it right now ;)

Wow, big thanks for a bunch of comments

Soleil is my fave character so far. That is why I gave him a lot of specialization, even in dialogues, yet some of my game players said less useful even compared with Stella. I just got surprised that you said in different opinion (no one ever mention Lunar less useful yet. It seems healer very essential). And for the "hidded room" you talked about, yes there is nothing but joke scene =P

 

I already fixed some typos on descriptions and many bug fixes here.

For the hidden room

 

 

Flay was on the 3rd floor, not 4th. There is a hidden room on floor 3-2 and hidden accessories located in somewhere on 3-1. The last hidden room was on 4-1. After thatm you wouldn't find any hidden room. In fact that each floor/room has one accessories (except the last floor). So, the total accessories would be 12

 

 

I did some experiments on hard mode and indeed I found that most of enemies targeted the last actor (and that was Stella). I don't have any idea why this could happen. In fact, I only use default targeting mechanic without change it a bit. And their targeting rate are same. Fortunatelly, with my scripting skill, I found the way how to deal with it. I made a formation targeting rate. So, basically, the first actor index I gave an extra value of its TGR value. And it solve the problem (I hope).

 

Did I mention that the Skyglyph has a high historical values? I thought that was enough as a reason.

Take your time mate, you know what? This is my first game I ever made since I knew RPG Maker at 2009. All my previous games are either canceled or hiatus. It's mainly because I couldn't think the better storyline. And I didn't want this game got the same problem xD

And how could they even think that Stella is better then Solei? oO They must screw up pretty hard like using flamecloak against this fire demon boss thing or only smashing the enter button against the skyward kingy (btw... he is a blue dragon.. not a green one =P)... he is way stronger then the rest from the group in the offence oO He does more then Lunar and Stellar together if you give him the boots oO I thought that he was a bit overpowered^^ Combining his forms WILL overpower almost any foe if he works together with the healer... Stella is the extra... completly useless oO Even her lvl 15 ability is weak oO

 

Well Lunar is in the middle... his offensive abilities are as high as stellar`s even a bit higher how I play them but he is mostly used for healing and buffing and since that`s very important... so yeah it`s normal that nobody does complain^^ If you were to train him to lvl 15 he would beat Stellar & Solei in a 2 : 1 because of that overpowered Lightform...^^

 

What? I missed ~half from the secrets...? You gotta be kidding me.... well i can understand if I haven`t found any in floor 4.1-3 since I just wanted to get out... but floor 5.1-3? I thought there weren`t any.... Gonna play trough it the next weekend again... can´t let that slide... xD

Indeed, it should be a blue dragon. That was why I requested some in this thread :P

 

The Stella's abilities was not to deals huge damage to a single target. She does damage on area or stun them using flashbang (which was being said it made her a bit OP). It gives a chance to party to make more preparation or deal more damage. If you think Soleil was a bit overpowered, then I shouldn't increase his attack damage (which I already done in this latest version). Since one of my friends gave me an advice to increase his damage rate. Oh, I almost forgot that someone had ever mentioned that the one who was a bit OP is Lunar. He could do more damage using normal attack compared with others. Now, I'm gonna confused here.

 

Well, you should wait for the next version of this game. Because I added a statistic menu that I could see how did you play my game and you could compare it with my playthrough as developer, or other's. And I planned to add hall of fame here :D

Hahahaha it heavily depens on how you play them xD

 

Lunar indeed does more damage then the others with his normal attack, but his offensive SKILLS are limited telekinesis and fireball and that`s it and because he is the healer he will rarely attack... he has other skills to use on the team xD But Solei can match his normal attack if he does have the Strengh Gem.... but since he has a high damage if you use his combo`s correctly his offensive is WAY higher then Lunar & Stella`s together... the highest damage i did with him in a round was....~1200 +/- on the skyward king maybe higher... get imbalance working on him afterwards use flamecloak and afterwards if you have two turns again use Solar Strike and Cyclon Flame (and get lucky with at least 3 strikes against him) and it does at least that much... if you have corona flame even more... you can get AP easily with the potions...

Oh my gosh. Finally, someone already discovered how to use Soleil and his combo properly. I'm going to shed manly tears here ;w;

Yes, got enemy imbalanced and switch it to flamecloak mode could boost his damage very high. No one ever notice that!

 

You know what? Most of my friend said that my game was that so hard and no one ever figure out how to use these characters.

I'm on my way limiting the damage count. Dealing damage over 1000 is not acceptable (unless it's critical). One of my plans was to reduce the max of AP (or TP in default terms). Decrease it to 50 instead of 100. Having 100 max of AP could be abused for many ways.

 

Oh well, I'm going to add more half portrait of others. Lunar for his Telekinetic or Lightform, and Stella for her Gatling Gun =P

I figured out to switch between them as soon as I got this abilities XD The only hard thing is too time it right or too have enough AP (TP in default terms =P) for them.... and to buy Solei the time to do it and to set it up correctly since sometimes it does skip the attacks from Cyclon Flame if there is only 1 foe^^ So it does still depend on luck^^

(Useless xD)... Like 10% chance for it be removed if a party member is dead... like desperation or such a thing... just an idea from a guy that was annoyed by it xD

I assume they never thought of it is because they didn't get any chance to do the experiment. All they thought was to aimlessly attack those enemies. Well, who knows ...

 

Lunar's Fullmoon Light does remove the oblivion state. Lunar regular healing has a chance. Otherwise, try those cure scrolls. It cures all debuffs. You need to restock your inventory for the last boss to make sure you wont miss anything. I always restock the mass cure scroll right before the last boss or Flay. Yes, I want to make item useful here =P or.... While Lunar and Soleil are busy on doing damage to enemy, turn Stella as support by throws item to them. Lol, I usually did this when I encountered the boss.

 

Have you ever seen the "Dispel Wave" ? It's now not only dispel party's buff. But also dispel self debuff. If you make it imbalanced not in a right time, you just going to waste the turn. So beware of it =P I also planned to make it dispel the debuff among the entire troop. But on second thought that would be difficult I guess  :lol:

 

Do you have an idea how to make Stella more useful? xD

Crap, everybody always come to me and said which character is less useful and they always have different opinion xD

Maybe you could give her granates a debuff like "bleeding" causing damage based on her attack power over time....and slightly increasing the damage from her "bullet rain" so that it does at least as much as a normal attack maybe a bit more... and you could add a critical chance boost to her fast reload skill and a slight tp boost (like 3-4 AP per round) it`s only for 2 turns but that increase would make her extremly strong i guess... But I am not sure if that´s too much though... Something like that or give her a usefull single target spell except for hollow point that`s like Solei`s Solar Strike... Maybe Bullet Round shot 3 Bullets at a foe) or you could give her different mods like Solei one for accuracy but lower damage and one for slightly lower accuracy but higher damage... there are many ways too do such stuff^^

Like this you could counter the Combo and decrease the damage extremly since flamecloak does increase the damage quit a bit... not sure how much but I guess around 30-50%

 

Well maybe not^^ Maybe I am just noticing this things cause I tried some funny fighting tactics once in a whyle... like using different "stances" for a character... Offensive, Magic, Defense and average...(yeah 4 for 1 char for real but it`s hellish to balance I am sure you know why xD) but yeah who knows^^

In very early version, I made Stella's frag grenade did a stun for 40 percent of chance. And most of my friend said it was too a bit OP. And they said she was much useful compared with Soleil. Now, I reduced it to 20 percent of chance, instead I gave her boomerang skill that does 100 percent of chance to stun (except for some enemies which has resistance / lowered rate against it). Thank you, I just got some ideas to tweaks some of Stella skills. *added in to do list notes*

 

Well, I don't know if the previous version of fullmoon light didn't remove the oblivion state. But I already gave it here. I already deleted the previous version and I somewhat lazy to extract the previous game version =P

 

Flamecloak increase the damage around 135%. I do want to make a lesser version of "dispel wave". But I don't have any idea what is the skill name should be. Dispel bolt? Don't worry, I also want to try to figure out how do I break Soleil's combo by counter attack. Basically, some counter attack could break from the opposite unit attack. For example, you do "Solar Strike". But, at the first attack, enemy does a counterattack to Soleil and it has a chance to knock back Soleil. So, basically "Solar Strike" will not land a hit and Soleil back to his original position. This is also an expansion of my script features which is not already implemented yet. I guess, it would be much tricky, just wish me luck xD

If it is only Solei you could actually use an ability like "Waterbreath" that he will use if solei casts flamecloak. (Water > Fire)

 

And if you add stances to Stella then he could use some kind of Whirlwind that has a 50-75% chance to get rid of flamecloak (Wind can extinquish fire if it`s strong enough...^^) and interrupts Stella´s stance for sure (What could interrupt a special stance better then a whirlwind..?)

 

No idea about the damage output tough...^^

 

Or just go with a special counter (as you suggested^^)... maybe a counter with something like forceshield (Like a weaker and smaller Dispel Wave) if he attacks with flamecloak and Stella with her damage stance or strong ability (if you give her smth like that^^). Well preferable would be a % Chance to counter since 100% would suck a lot but yeah your decision =P

 

20%? Thought it has 5-10%... I only stunned around 3 foes with the Stun granade in the whole game... didn`t use the boomerang much tough =P

 

And btw... the boss does look much better now on the map^^ (looked at the thread^^)

I plan to make Stella's hollowpoint to break the barrier by chance. I'm sure she would be useful now =P

Flame grenades add burns by chance, and bullet rain might crippled the target. I have no idea about the stance. But, I do want to make a skill named "Vital Aim" (or similar), it basically added "aimed" state to enemy and boost ONLY her damage. And don't you realize that she is only the character who can not be affected by "mute/silence" state? I probably add skill to some enemy that could silenced the actors.

 

I just want to be consistent that Stella isn't mage. I won't give her any magical stance or attack. It could be considered as her weakness or superiority.

Well no since I never saw anyone silenced^^ I think I got lucky there.... I only saw a quit much stun from foes (How much stun chance does Thunderpillar have? 60%?) but no, I never saw a silence ability in your game^^

 

If you were to add that please make sure to balance it...^^  If the silence does effect everyone except for Stella it might be fatal if you made one that affects the whole team xD

 

Oh and I don´t mean any magic stance... with stance i want to describe a state like your blackhole force and flamecloak... only a little bit different.. You see I mean that if she has stances that they have certain "strenghts" and each one has quit a weakness.. you could say a two-edged-sword... Not anything like "magic" it`s just like switching between and offensive and a defensive warrior... if you want to describe it that way... maybe I am just using the wrong word or you are thinking too much about magic^^

 

For example a state where her accuracy and crit is boosted BUT as an exchange the damage will be lowered... And the same in the opposite way... it has nothing to do with magic... like a swordsman can hold the sword differently and have an advantage in defense but a disadvantage in the offensive...

 

And nice thinking there...^^ That might prove too make her powerful as well^^ (sadly for me... =P)

 

Well she might still be a mage... I mean... how does she get unlimited bullets and granates without magic..?! Lunar might be a hidden expert with explosives and might be able to produce bullets out of nowhere... hmmm mysterys xD

hope flay venonum boss be stronger than before. You know, I've tried hard mode(wltr mode, maybe) and he still easily burned by sol's flameskin plus grenade. Yeah, with some luck from barrier's reflection power too....

Well it because I only gave it for Skyward King. Or, I haven't give him? Well I guess I should take a look at the previous version to make sure this long talks to be relevant :| nevermind then

 

It will be balance of course. You will be lucky if enemy silenced Stella instead of others. And if you were run out of stock, you could escape (but I will also record how many you have escaped from battle =P). Well, just make sure your item stock is enough to face the bosses. It's a mandatory.

 

Raising critical rate is not acceptable in my game. I made critical attack 3 times higher from the original value and I wont change it. I do balance the game by not relying on critical. If it does, then it's your luck (my game has too much luck involved lol). I will try to working on some stances. Andd.... she already got many skills. Maybe I should remove or replace some of them. I don't want my character got many skills, yet some of them never been used. I believe that you used all of Soleil's skill, didn't you?

 

About those bullet, even me can not think where she got her bullets. So I will leave it to player. Is she a mage? Well, probably =P

Already did. He is no longer affected with burn and imbalance. My bad I didn't make him resist bad states at this version

Also, there are poison bullets that could stacked 1 - 4 poison to actors at same time.

I haven't played ED in a while, got busy making my own game but as soon as i get time i'll get at it again :P

 

Edit: aaand changed my mind. As soon as i got Cyclone Flame i could see how powerful Soleil is. Slowly, Stella was becoming less useful and Soleil more powerful. But Soleil doesn't works without Lunar, they are the perfect couple. I mean, Barrier+Sun Cloak (if that is the name -- i don't remember the name right now) is such a powerful combination, you're almost untouchable. That combined with Black Hole Force and Curse from Lunar... you then become a titan. To give usefulness to Stella i make her the "Item character", you know, when a character is so useless that all he/her can do is to either heal or use items on actors.

 

I don't follow a "combo" really, i'm not that kind of player, i just use Barrier on Soleil as soon as i can then eliminate the magicians, then i use Stella to give Action Vials (which btw are extremely OP on Soleil) to Soleil and well, just slay them all :P

 

That basilisk boss was somewhat though but nothing i couldn't manage.

 

I'm playing in the higher difficult btw :P

I would say, if you don`t like much skills, replace a few with skills of similar value (damage output or status debuffs/buffs stuff like that) and if you would like to make more (I don`t have to say what I would prefer or? =P) then you should raise the lvl cap and exp and length from the dungeon...(or just increase xp slightly and add skills "regulary"^^)

 

And yes... game balancing is a hassle... it`s a big and annoying deal in a game that does focus on fights...^^

 

And about the stock... normally I do but well... I sometimes forget about items if I have skills that should cure the thing as well as long as it´s not an emergency but I was stocked up...^^ at least 15 from each item and 30 potions from each smth like that +/- 5^^

 

And if the creator doesn´t know that himself... who knows?! This game... it has a life we don´t know about yet.... be aware.... johnny might be back...

 

And sorry for not answering I was reading trough other stuff (completed ace scripts... man.. nice things there... have to try a few next month or in a few weeks...hopefully I can use them xD) and doing other stuff xD

I'm not too sure if i'm in the beggining, right now i'm in the third floor. How much floors there are? o.o

 

And btw, in reality it is supposed to be "Dû Brëiche" not "Dû Brëuch" but i forgot at the moment of changing my nickname :P i'll change it.

 

Right now i'm excited to see what kind of stuff the newer version has :)

Looking good Theo, I still would wait for the final version. I managed to breeze through back then until I reach the floor with looping exit and ragequit soon after and doesn't bother to continue it.

Hmm... well, I should make them getting removed by damage =P

Yeah, Solar Force could break the game balance I guess. Never tried Corona Strike though, I never reach the level because I usually fight the boss on level 12-13. Maybe I should tried to switch my playstyle to be a grinder. This is why betatester / Quality assurance should be added to team lol.

 

Critical is a pure bonus chance I gave for player. Yeah it's 3 times higher than the original value. And it's default from RMVXA itself. It has 5% chance, though, I feel it's kinda often to see critical was poped up everywhere just like why Stella was the actor who mostly targeted. :| ahay I should decrease the chance of the critical then. Bear with it! 3:D

 

Level cap is 20, no more, no less. All I need to do is to manage them properly. I will try to messing around with Stella's skill. Maybe I would change all her skill or deal with it. Okay, this one needs time to consider.

 

Yeah, I also want to said same, I'm sorry for not answering you guys as the player. I got many stuffs to do and I avoid to write more or read wall of texts considering my native language isn't English.

Well, your tactic is also one of the combo I gave to player. It's more like defensive combo. Okay, stacked all buffs (barrier, flamecloak) to Soleil and make them overpowered. But I prefer to separate them. Barrier for Lunar or Stella and Soleil has defensive buff for himself.

There will never be a final version. As soon as I have an idea to expand my battle system script or managed to make my own original resource, I will update this game. I will never abandon my first game :3 At least, I hope so.
