Some screenshots from my project 'Return of the Lost'

Chandelier. :) Our of curiosity, is that font Harrington? I think it's a good choice ^-^-b I think the lighting effects are a little bright--candles aren't like electric bulbs these days ;)

New screenies!

Not sure if I made the hanging candelabra? (I think that may be the word?) Too bright.

Damn, you learn pretty fast. That seems cool but as Tsarm pointed out, it's a little bit too bright. Not too much tho, just a little little bit. I feel that road a little bit too empty but nothing too serious. I like your style :P

  I always thought a chandelier was basically the fancy rich version, you learn something new everyday.

Yes the fonts Harrington. I'm torn between that and Hoperound. I'm worried that some people would find harrington too hard to read, but unless I get a lot of people complain I think I'll keep it. :P

I've tone down the brightness a tad, hopefully now the patrons won't be blinded. I find it quite hard to get the lighting and shadows right, since it's so easy to get it wrong -_-

Looks nice but i see the bottom shadows a little bit too forced, it should be more blurred. Btw, looks like a cools scene

Haha like I said I find light and shadows quite hard to pull off. But I'm improving and I'm sure I'll continue to do so. :P

This map is one of my few parallax maps, it's unfortunate parallax maps take so long and so much space otherwise I think I'd do every map like this

Right, i have some stuff to say about these screenshots. First of all, to remark that they are awesome : ) and second, i will list the screenshots in order:

1) Subtle light effects, i like them. Harmonizes very well with the environment. But once again, that light coming from the door isn't nothing near to realistic or good looking.

2) I simply love that screenshot because of the climate... it seems relaxing and temperate. Dat arabian text tho :P

3) This picture looks very interesting because of the design of the beast and the enviroment itself. Misterious.

4) It has MANY errors. First, the union between the corners is not complete and it is very notable, second, the tint screen makes the rock corners (i don't know hwo to call them in english :P) look completely black and doesn't look good. Third, the entrance is larger than the end of the rock (i don't know how to call them again... cliff maybe?) and it is, once again, notable... looks weird. You gotta change that tint screen o.o

5) Same as second one :P

Good job :) i like the graphics of your game~

1) Yeah making realistic door lights don't really seem to be my strength lol

2)The text is actually from the third screen. It's an Elven script. Thought it was pretty cool for any races where you don't understand the language. :P

4)Changed the tint, but not much I can do about the actual tiles cause that's how they just are. (Damn looks like I'll have to parallax.) I was hoping to avoid parallax mapping as much as possible. :(

Some story screens today. And also I finally got Yami's battle symphony to work! (For now) So there's a screen from a battle too.

Spiders are very big in RPG games. That's a bad thing.

As always, pretty good images. Yup, the graphics of your game are neat~~ But, i need to point out some things before.

First image: i found two problems there. The first one is that you put leaf fog in there but i don't see any trees in there. Well, yes, one in the bottom and the start of another in the top but that doesn't mean it'd cover all with those shadows. That fog is mainly used in forests to reflect the quantity of trees and that make the effect that the trees cover the sun.

Second image: Nothing bad in here in reality, everything looks good and pretty nice lighting effects

Third image: same as above. Everything is correct and you were wise by making the lighting very subtle, it gives a nice feel and ambient and also is realistic as that place is not dark.

Fourth image: that background isn't from the RTP, right? o.o i like it alot, looks cool :)

Wonderful images :)

1: B-but it makes it look pretty! lol I'll change it then.

2: I like my caves as dark as possible, just makes it quite creepy to wander around not quite sure where your going or where the monsters may be. That cave is inhabited hence the lit torches, but I still made quite a few dark corners. :P

3: That's good then, I figured a large tower with plenty of windows wouldn't be too dark. I don't know if you noticed but I like my dark maps. :P

4: I'm pretty sure the background is RTP. I haven't put in any custom battle backgrounds. The floor is grassmaze and the wall forest2.

Really nice mapping and use of your tile sets. I really like the forest area, I wish i could see more of it! Also the tent i love the idea and the concept of how you mapped it out! Keep up the great work!

Thanks guys. I love those tiles, I know a lot of people use them as well but I think that just shows how awesome they are.

And it's amazing how different a map looks with a few shadow and lighting effects. :)

Those lightning effects are amazing. They blend so nicely into the overall image. I wish i knew how to do lightning like that. It adds such an ambiance to the map as a whole.

I use gimp to add lighting effects, it's a free image editing program. And just add them to my project with an overlay mapping script.

There's plenty of tutorials you can find that explain how to do it. I would explain myself but I'm terrible and explaining things so I'll probably just end up confusing you more!

But If I can learn how to do it you sure can. :)

Really nice work! I'm relatively new toVX Ace, but this is some pretty cool stuff. I see that you've worked with some plains, caves, mountains, and buildings. Are you working on other environments as well? (aka: deserts, lakes, volcanoes

)

There will be a point where you visit a desert kingdom and explore a volcano. But that's not until much later on in the game so I'm not working on them just yet.

Sorry for the bold text, must've hit that by accident! Lol, but I'm glad to hear that because my favorite types of games are the ones that are diverse in settings with good gameplay.

I know what you mean! I find it boring when games are hours long but have the same enviroment all the way through.

I'm looking forward to designing the second chapter of my game. There's tons more diversity in terms of regions. (Jungle filled with dinosaurs, desert kingdom, underground cities, a volcano, a ship at sea.)
