+ Lazzamore 54 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) I have finished the first sprite of my game! If you would, critique it so to improve. My Protagonist; Bayheart. I'll need constructive criticism to grow my skills, so don't hold back. -EDIT- I have finished another. Since this threads still open, I thought i'd post it here rather then start another. Again, if you would, I would be thankful to receive any and all forms of constructive criticism. This may or may not make it into my game - or I'll use it as my character in Ace Academy. . + Lazzamore 54 Posted June 18, 2014 Man... No response. Maybe if i bump it back up to the top, it will get the right peoples attention. *BUMP*
+ Archeia 160 Posted June 19, 2014 #1 you use too many colors. Strip it down to 2-3 at most. Rarely use 4. #2 Your character has no skull, study how the RTP does the hair.
+ Lazzamore 54 Posted June 19, 2014 Hooray! A comment! Thank you, Archeia. The only thing; I'm not sure how to reduce the colors on the first sprite; Taking away any major color on it would sort of defeat my idea of his costume... Unless gray scale wouldn't count, then i can make his pants/belt/eyes black.
ihartrpgs 148 Posted June 19, 2014 It might help if you show what kind of tile set you're using as well. Although the sprite above does not match the RTP, if you're using a custom tileset that matches your sprite, then it might be okay.
+ Lazzamore 54 Posted June 19, 2014 I am, for the most part, using RTP, while supplementing it with some custom tiles when I need to, mine and others that I like. You don't think it matches? That saddens me... Oh well, I'll work on them.
ihartrpgs 148 Posted June 19, 2014 Actually, it's not that bad with the RTP. I think the sprite is adorable and would suggest maybe trying to make your own tilesets if you're up for the challenge since I think you'd be good at making them. Something about the sprite reminds me of the SNES era, which brings back memories. I'm not too sure why though.
+ Archeia 160 Posted June 19, 2014 It's all about HSL values and contrast. I did an edit but I accidentally closed and it didn't save so it's all fudge it x_x) I'll try later when I have more energy.
