Screenshots From My Project

Recommended Posts

Hey there,

I've been using RPG Maker VX Ace for a while now, but I haven't actually completed a project, like ever. So I thought, you know what? I'm gonna grab life by the line and see if I can actually change that. I have a little bit of experience with RPG Maker, but I still would like feedback on how I can improve my maps (:

The tilesets that I am using are from Mack.
While the sprites and facesets/bust are from Kaduki.

Good mapping. I see you understand the concepts of staggering and attention to detail. Things a lot of newer people don't do. I can tell by your screen shots that you HAVE been working with rpg maker for a while now, but just havn't released anything yet. Don't worry, I'm in the same boat as you.

They are very nice maps without or rarely any parallax.  ^_^

Just a couple of things I noticed:

Village Kazea Pic # 3, there's a window that is literally resting on the border of the wall on the house to the very right. which looks strange to me.

The house beside that one is just missing the tip part of the attic window/roof.

That's very much I have to say for the general idea, these are off to a great start at your level!  :)

Edit: Oh I just took a quick glance and noticed in Village Kazea Pic #1  the red building is just overlapping (or cutting off) a tree.

and in Village Kazea Pic #2 the upper right corner, there's a tree just cut off by the flower tiles.

Damn. I wish I could map at this level. How did you pull of having animated pictures of your characters during dialogue? Did you hand draw them and add them in manually or am I missing something lol? Anyway, not too much I can see that needs improved as it all looks really good so far. I'm still new to RPG maker though so Probably not the best advice giver anyway. Have a good one.

Amazing mapping..

I would say you had a lot of experience before hand..

They look very professional..

Just check out the map and events before you make a new element

The mapping looks fantastic, particularly in the cave. I love how the lighting creates just enough light to see where you're going, but still makes the surroundings look very dim.

I'll admit that I'm a bit of an anime geek, so the character designs really appeal to me. The dialogue doesn't seem too bad either (I didn't see any spelling or grammar mistakes). Story is a big thing for me, and the game looks really nice.

Can't wait for completion!

Actually, the characters are from Kaduki, I just did a little bit of recoloring :P.

Thanks! Hopefully I can actually finish this game before I just get lazy and stop working on it halfway, which I usually do with every project I do :P.

I think that's most artists, save for the extremely dedicated and those who are able to pay the bills on their art alone.

It would be a shame to see such good mapping go to waste though.

With maps like those, it's making me want to improve my own! Right now I have a problem doing large zones and thus have shifted mainly to doing multiple smaller maps.

Keep up the good work!

I don't think there is much to improve in your mapping skills! Just look on YouTube if you want a more realistic map type thing. It takes more time but I've seen that you can draw a back ground to walk on. You use invisible transparent tiles that you can walk on to make it look like you're walking on the picture. Make a transparent tile you can't walk on for the tree so you can't walk through trees. I don't expect anyone to try and do that though lol. But if you have the time and inspiration go ahead!

Your maps are looking really good so far! Keep up the good work! I really like your little town map. I hate making towns they always look like a box.

I would add more plants, especially in the forest. Other then that it's all looking good.
