TheoAllen 830 Posted June 12, 2014 I recently make some titlescreens of my game which may contains spoiler of my game. For example, the titlescreen shows those actors are duelling with monster of just display one of game scenes. Yeah, it will also happens in game but after you have reached some points. If you ever watch anime, the opening itself tells a major spoiler if you look it closely. And its clearly fine Personally, I have no problem with it. And in my opinion, it will add a bit fun. Such as "Hey, I wonder when I could engage this monster" *points at the monster in titlescreen*. But a friend of mine isn't. My question is, are you fine with titlescreen spoilers? I wonder if the titlescreen itself can be equated with anime opening.
+ Glasses 606 Posted June 12, 2014 Spoiler is not a spoiler until you realize it's a spoiler. I wouldn't have problems with spoilers on the title screen. Only later in the game you'd go like "Oh! That was a spoiler."
Pou-chan 8 Posted June 12, 2014 It's fine since it has no major spoiler in it. Like someone dies or something! But if you judge from anime openings, sometimes they just show the spoiler but you can't understand it. Like in Mirai Nikki 1st OP where they show Yuno in blood but you see only her her feet . So I'm totally cool with it !
Tarq 746 Posted June 12, 2014 The thing is with anime openings is that they aren't really spoilers, they're allusions. Take One Piece (not the best example as its probably the worst directed show I've ever seen, but) for example, they tend to show the Strawhats battling whatever villains are in the current arc but these aren't spoilers because : 1. Its often established early in the arc who these people are. 2. The fight is not canon with how that fight will go down- not just in terms of what moves will be used but also who will be matched against who. 3. The 'spoiler' scenes are surrounded by other clips that do not happen, making it unclear whether or not these 'spoiler' scenes will also occur. Basically, these kinds of things need to be vague enough that without a certain piece of information then their meaningless, but once you have that piece of information it all clicks into place. A good example might be a lategame area that gets destroyed or a logo of a group of people that you only encounter lategame. Point is, make it a doozy, the turning point of the plot, and people will appreciate that it was there, planned, all along.

But it clearly tell you that the battle between luffy and the villain will be occured in some next episodes. Regarding the 3rd, it something like how they encapsulate the spoilers. So, it will look unclear. Ahay, I guess I will try to make it doesn't looks like a clear spoiler xD Thank you guys. If there is anyone who want to reply this topic. Feel free. It's an open discussion.
ron 0 Posted June 12, 2014 I'm fine with minor spoiler, but if it contains a major spoilers(too much picture for scene in-game), It could impact into the game to be reduced.
Euphoria 147 Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) If it's just showing future monsters you may fight, then I think you'll be fine! It actually might make some people excited to find those monsters and unlock the moves used in the "spoiler" Edited June 12, 2014 by Euphoria
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted June 13, 2014 Why, remember Chrono Trigger's first edition, for the Super Nes? After the title screen, lots of spoilers, including battle scenes. And that made me think "wow, I wanna reach that part!"

THEAQIB 59 Posted June 13, 2014 (edited) Don't think it as a spoiler.. Think it as a trailler for the game.. The titlescreen should make the player want to reach that level.. The same way a movie trailer glues the audience to the seat in the theatres.. If you make a spoiler filled titlescreen it'll most probably increase the gameplay rate and hence no of players.. Think logically do magically.. Edited June 13, 2014 by THEAQIB
