Castle Map Screenshots. Ideas needed.

Recommended Posts

Okay so I've been using RPG Maker for a few years now (Had VX when it first came out and updated to VX Ace upon its release). Despite this I've never actually finished a project, pretty much just because I like playing around with editor and making maps and exploring what it can do. I tend to come up with a new idea for a simple game start making a few maps for it, decide on some character names, ect. but never actually finish anything. My latest idea starts in a castle ruled by a young princess, daughter of the beloved yet deceased  king and queen of the nation. I've made most of the castle but I'm running out of ideas on what to add. I also want to know if annybody knows of any shoe-shiner worker sprites? Theres an area on the first (ground) floor that is designed to be a shoe-shiner area but I couldn't find anything online. Also review and criticism is welcome. I don't claim to be an expert and I might consider becoming a mapper for a group project in the future so my work wouldn't go to waste! So knowing whether or not my mapping skills are good enough for that would be very handy to know.

Anyway enough chatter, heres what I have so far: (Note the basement will probably get a massive overhaul and is very unfinished).

F1: (The bottom left area is relevant to the story which is why its odd looking)

Finally thanks for reading! This is my first post on this forum and whilst i've used this site for resources and advice numerous times I thought it finally time to make an account and start contributing back.

Also I posted this pretty late and I have work early tomorrow morning so I probably won't respond back on here until tomorrow evening. Goodnight folks!

Looks good..

Maybe because the present king and queen are young the kindom slowly but steadily starts to rebel against the king..

And soon problems arise when suddenly some mysterious character appears and co-ordinates the rebels of the kingdom to agtack the king..

You can make the main character to be a soldier in kings army who eventually saves the day..

Put lots of twists and turns and voila great game..

Like the idea??

Haha not far off what I orignally had planned! The kingdom becomes divided whilst the protaganist is out and the heads of the army lead the princess out through a secret passage (hence the weird inexcessable part at the bottom left of F1).  The protaganist returns upon hearing the chaos in the next village over where he was sent on one of his errands. He rushes back and either has prior knowledge of the secret route or somehow finds a clue left behind to find it (haven't decided yet). He follows them through the secret passage and into a sewer system (the first dungeon which I've half completed), eventually catches up with the small group leaving and finds them after all those defending the princess have been taken out (last minute hero kind of thing). The chaos was caused by a man manipulating things and planting doubt behind the scenes. I kind of want to develop this rebellion idea but at the same time keep the main focus on tracking down this elusive villain and taking him down. I was thinking of maybe spanning a few years at some point and having this villain have taken over the castle and leading an army. And the best way to enter the castle being back through the altered 1st dungeon. Thanks for replying though. I'm excited as to what this project could be if I can focus on it long enough!
