My shrine of dreams Dungeon

Hey xyx

Just thought I'd give some feed back on your screens.

 

The Good

 

 

- I think the general layouts are good on the maps.

- The maps all look consistent to create a good atmosphere for the area.

- The dungeon seems like it is well designed and with the added water level aspect it can be interesting

 

(as long as its not just a simple switch to lower it down once and then the map is solved... you can really use this mechanic to your advantage and have the player need to put it up and down at varying levels or various points to access certain paths, etc)

 

 

 

Some issues to point out

 

 

- The flooring is a bit confusing and causes some perspective issues for me

     + Ex: Upper left of map 1. The dark blue grass and stone floor look like they are on the same layer

     + Ex: Map 2. The glassy floor should likely extend all the way underneath the statue instead of stopping before (or it should have a barrier fence)

     + Ex: Map 3. On the right side where you can go to where the water is, the stairs should extend all the way to the stone floor

     + Ex: Map 3. The teal hallway that has stone colored border is oddly inconsistent, some have stone bottom borders others don't.

     + Ex: Map 3. The same teal hallways are they supposed to be depressed down like where water was or not.

 

- The details are nice but a bit too symmetric and similar.

     + Mapping within the engine makes it harder to create unique details, like the rocks on map 1 or the statues of map 2/3 for instance, but a few simple edits might help to make it look a bit more diverse in the surroundings.

 

 

 

A couple of suggestions

 

 

- Since this is a dream shrine, you can really go crazy and it would make sense because it is a dream shrine. But it is also an all or nothing sort of situation.. if you are going to go rainbow colors they should be really vivid and everywhere so that you KNOW its a dream. If you are going psychedelic random trippy dream then it needs to be REALLY trippy, If you want a more subtle calm serene dream, maybe make it more placid and starry. Etc.

 

- The Tint is good,but it came off a bit more under the sea than dream shrine to me. I think this is because of a few factors: the mermaid statue, the plants look like anemones due to coloration, and the blue tint.

 

- I would suggest simplifying the flooring choices. There are ALOT of floor tiles on map 1 and 3 and it is a bit confusing at times.

 

 

 

Overall I think this is a good start on the maps. I hope my suggestions can help. I am looking forward to see if you update them!
