A character from my Dragon Reign

Recommended Posts

I was wondering about this. There was some one who said that the anatomy of this picture was all wrong.  I think it's just the pose but i don't know.  Could any one do a redraw of this character and point out what I did wrong if possible. Not knowing is bugging me. Also do not worry I didn't steal it. Ky86 is my deviant art name.

Seems fine to me, the only thing I noticed that makes it look kinda wrong is the armor. You see, you need to know how to draw those armor correctly in terms of perspective. Oh the armor I`m pertaining to is the Shoulder Pads. Once that issue is fixed, the character will look great ^~^

Here`s a picture of Tohka Yatogami for reference, her Shoulder Armor is really good though xD

Thank you very much. I think the members here are far nicer than most rpg maker communities. Not to brag or any thing. I just hope the armor is a simple fix for me without having to go back and recolor it. :)

Now that you posted your artwork here. It's time for me to go out with a clear conscious! :)

The armour too was what looked funny to me because the chest where it connects to the shoulder pads looks a little disjointed.

Like they delve deeper to the chest  and it creates that wonky perception that Kotori mentioned.

They should be farther apart where Kotori highlighted so it doesn't look like the armor is creating the Rigor Mortis effect (strong term?)

Other than that, your character is really nicely drawn Rose. :)

No problem ^~^ I am also having a hard time in some perspectives xD but don`t worry, we are all here to help each other ^~^

Thank you LadyMinerva.  I am probably going to redraw the character anyway though because I studied it  and he looks a bit too young. I am still going to keep him young though. I just don't want him to too young.

I suggest a reworking of the hair as well. :) It seems like you've been working hard Rose, because I noticed a lot of cool details in this new portrait that weren't there in your earlier portraits. You're getting better and better ^-^ But just to match stylistically, I suggest you work a bit on his hair. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be white or blue (it's the only thing with a blue outline...but then it's left white...so I wasn't sure) but if it's blue, go out with real coloring! If it's white, remember that pure white is almost never used in human/oid artwork. Dull purple and light blue are great colors to shade with when working with white hair, and here are some pics for reference. :)

Also, your armor has highlights but it doesn't have grain. I'd suggest trying Photoshop with Add Noise (monochromatic)>>Motion Blur a bit to add grain. And the shading on the underarmour (not entirely sure what it is) could be softened, and heighten up that contrast! :)
