Your maps are very impressive, and it looks like you have some 3/4 angle sprites too, which I'm sure will add another level of graphical and animation quality to the game.

The only thing I note is that the last image on your most recent post, where Lorelle is talking in what I assume is some kind of patisserie, appears a tad bit too empty. Can't think of any reasonable place that has four tables. I understand in RM that square movement means you need to force some space, but the place looks big enough for another row of tables somewhere. But that's just me.

I think it's a thing a lot of people underestimate; the appeal of well managed space. A bunch of parallax'd clutter objects can look nice and does show some attention to detail, but a place with a variety of objects and textures that is neatly put together looks just as good. I think you have a good sense for that, especially in that third image with Dawn talking.

I hope you can find a way to put all your skills together in an exciting game.

I'd have to disagree, I like how de cluttered it is and the quality of the room makes up for it. I wouldn't want it overly clumped because of the setting and what's going on in it.

Right, that's what I meant. I misspoke. Clutter can look nice, but, a well managed space like in these images looks just as good if not better. I just thought that last image could use a few more tables.

Ooh, thanks for all the feedback! :D I love addressing these individually.

Oh wow....they are sensational!!!!! :D ^~^ Tsar, you're a flipping geniusly appletastically apple with a massive slice of molto bene!!! Like wowwoooooO!!!!!! ^~^~^~^~^~^~~^^~^~^~^~^ The first one with the tree and the outside and Ariel I was like HOLY CRUMS OF A BACON PIE THAT'S GOOD!!!!!! ^~^ B-e-aUTIFUL!!! PArallaxing!!!! ^~^ I LOVE IT!!! YE YE YE YE!!!!! ^~^ And are those sprites made by you cause dammnnnnn girl, das gooooooodddddd work!!!!!

Thanks!!~~ ^_^ *happiness* Tankyas to the max *huggy* The sprites come from a variety of sources, but all of them have been well-to-heavily edited by myself. I want original characters after all ^-^ I DO have to thank Celianna and EB though, along with a truckload of other people who I'm sooooooooooo grateful to :)

Out of curiosity, have you ever actually tried a bacon pie? It sounds kind of....unusual. O:)

Your bakery point is a legitimate one and definitely one that I was considering while creating this map. ^-^ (Despite the fact that I do know a place with four tables, that's irrelevant in this matter. They have really good ice cream though....) I might be able to squeeze another one in, but I probably wasn't satisfied with that arrangement when making the map. (I made it quite a few months ago so I don't quite remember.) Thanks for your advice and I'll definitely keep it in mind! :D There's always a difference between cozy, cluttered, and dump truck management of space.

*huggy* ^~^ I love addressing people in general :) Well!! If they helped you make your game what it is!! ^~^ Then I love them :)

I'm not sure how different pies can be made in Apple and Peach land, but here in Australia yes bacon pies can be made and they are delicious :) ^~^ My sister made me one once. :)

I really just wanna get some mapping done. :( Too bad I don't have any time recently.....

Still, positive motivation is HUGE in this endeavour....all because of people like you :) I can keep going!

I think I'll drop THIS here as a sample. No idea if I'm going to use this format or not, but I seriously need to make it larger, at least. >_<

Looks very nice. Although the black swirly lines in the middle-right look kinda fuzzy. I'm on my phone ATM so I can't tell if it's the background giving it that effect or not. The entire layout looks very clean and professional. Do you have any more examples with different characters?

It actually is kind of fuzzy, when I uploaded the image it seems to have lost some of its quality. :( I only have this one so far, but if I play around a little bit with various formats, I'll decide on which one I like best and go from there. :)

At least, that's my plan.~

OMG those screen shots are amazing, Tsar! My gosh, Dawn's bust is stunning! Dat hair! *Q*

I agree with Blindga, your grip on mapping is firm in more ways than one~ I noticed it in the early screen shots, but I couldn't articulate what I was seeing. Now, I can! You're good with space management, which is a topic I've never seen discussed in mapping threads. (Parallax or not.) It's an interesting note! Like you had a skill before it was even a skill, so...+50 points for that!  :D

I think the bio template looks good, only the light part of the gradient makes the blue lettering hard for me to read unless I'm close~ That's it though, and I'll be excited to see more characters~

I can't wait for a demo to come out! (I know, the poor thread isn't even done and I'm visualizing game play.) But I just want to experience this world you've crafted. I can tell you've put a lot of thought and feels into it; that makes me just as excited as the visuals~ Plus, picking a story line with or without fighting based on the character's position in the world is just...amazing! Can't wait to see how it all gels together.

Keep it up, dear!  :D

(Also, how's your tablet doing? Q^Q)

Thanks Allusion =^-^= To this day I think Dawn is one of the best portraits I've ever done, and I STILL can't replicate the way I did her hair on anyone else. Nooo, self, whyyyyy TT_TT

Awww, so sweet >w< Tankyas much~ I really haven't been parallaxing--or mapping in general--for very long. I've used this editor for a year and I haven't done much with it lol because I'm so busy. Now that you mentioned space management, I guess I'm just really organized? lol. My clothes drawers at home are color/style coded hahaha.

Ooh, nice point about the gradient. I knew something was bothering me, but when you stare at something too long it tends to lose meaning hehe. I'll be sure to work on that. :)

Thanky shanky soooo much TwT You have no idea how much I appreciate the support. I wish I had more time to program all this in, though! (wah)

ps. Tablet pen is back in commission! Just trying it out and getting my tablet to cooperate. :D

Look, a really messy scanned sketch of Mathieux and Gisele! (For those of you curious about what they look like)

These look great, especially the girl. As for the mapping, I'm amazed that you parallax all the interiors.
At my game, we've only done exteriors so far, as we think it's crazy to do interior aswell xd.
So I compliment you on doing that, plus, they look great. A bit crampy for me, but that's my fault, not yours. I just have a hard time in real life with too many things around me >.>.

I might edit this comment tomorrow when i wake up, to give some more (and better) feedback.
For now I'll say: make your dream come true and complete this game, but don't rush it! Take your time and enjoy creating it!

EDIT: Well it's not much, but I do like all the bread. It does make you feel hungry, so that art of yours, really hit the spot.

+ sweet tables, but it does seem like that redhaired char is sitting at the edge of her seat :). That may seem a bit unnatural. (ofcourse, this all meant well :)! )

Thanks, crystal. :) I actually find parallaxing interiors easier than exteriors, but I use battlebacks for my exteriors, so that can get kinda tricky. :) Yes, I prefer it cluttered. Or, as I like to say, cozy. ;)

I just drew up Mathieux and Gisele fairly fast. They're not even related by blood, if you check the Cast section, but...well...people are people. Connections form. ^^

Thanks for the support, though! I appreciate it. :D

Thanks to l'insomnie's base, I was able to work on this gorgeous campus~ :)

Ariel's school campus is so flowery it is unfair. I want a campus like this. ;w;

Oh. My god. Sorry I was late for the party, hun, but that is [CENSOR'D] incredibru. ♡♡♡ The colors, arrangements, what's not to love?!

Base near the flowers at the bottom left and middle are a bit cut off though. Apart from that, darn that is just the prettiest lil thing I've ever seen.

And now I need to get back to work on Fantasy Impromptu. More maps for us, por favor? ♡

Damn. I want a campus like that too.

Heeey! :) So I finally get to see your face on here ^-^ Aww...tankyas. >////< I did quite a bit of work with layering the grass by stamping battlebacks all over the place, which is rather my style. (lol)

Yeah, now that you mention it...*peers at screen* It is cut off. Hmee. I think I might have merged my layers in the wrong order...whoops. Better get to fixing that. >.>"

Have fun! *waves* Of course. Mapping is my joy ;)

Just art in general is mine, but if you do wanna see what's coming up soon, I'm replacing all graphics in Fantasy Impromptu with hand-drawn ones. Won't look half as detailed as Ariel, but I'll try. :)

Yeah, that includes big maps. I'll keep you guys (and this talented, lovely gurl) updated.

Hand-drawn? Like on paper or what? :o That's cool. I'll be looking forward to updates :)

I fixed the map. And added light and shadows...very hurriedly...hehe. :3

Digital artwork. All of it is sketched straight from Photoshop or SAI. 100% original; with a few inspirations. It'll be tricky and ambitious, but I do plan to switch to new direction in art.

Looks great now; perhaps a shadow cast over the large building would finish it off. :3

Ooh. That reminds me a little bit of A Piece for the Night (a game on here that I've seen. Hand-drawn.) Can't wait to see it then :)

I wanna get to work on character profiles and organize the battle thingies. Varying battle systems...this will be a pain....><

I always thought your game would be more pacifist and involve puzzles than all out combat, :P

I'm working on a battle system with Theo and Richter. If we have any results, we'll release them in due time. :)

Only some characters have a legit battle system :) Most of them have a very elaborate choice-based battle system, which is going to be a pain. XD

Sounds kewl. o.o I didn't know you could script :)

---

Well, today I'm working on some more mundane stuff...skills and all that....so much paper on my desk right now haha. ^^

Woaaahhh! das a cool looking map, Tsar. I've gotta' keep more active on this thread xD. How is the compatibility when walking around with the map? Like it looks like it could be very glitchy.

Also!! How come Spectre can call you hun? Is it cause he's flirting? :( Well...well...Well maybe I don't wanna' call people dearest anymore *hmmph* Dx
