LordSquirrel 150 Posted September 27, 2014 This is something I did on the status feed a few days ago and some said that it might make a good off-topic thing. This a game I like to call Random Project Facts. There are only two rule: 1 You must post three facts per post (and only three) about your project, and 2 if you make another post you must list three more facts. These facts can be from any project that you've ever worked on, they can be about anything, and all three facts don't even have to be from the same project. I'll begin. All of these are about my current project The Plague. 1. The weapons and skill main character Zendan were inspired my character's like Thor with her main weapon being a war hammer and her primary magic being thunder. 2. The werewolf party member Solif has gone through several incarnation from villain to random Npc to now full fledged party member. 3. Almost every name I use in the game are names I came up with by randomly putting different letters together.
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted September 27, 2014 1~ Ariel, my current project (currently in Theory/Dev) was originally a story thought up when I was around eight or ten years old. ^^ 2~ I once tried to make a game about Great Expectations. I haven't finished it yet. 3~ Couplets and quatrains are great for dialogue, unfortunately some of my poetry seems unnecessarily deep for some pieces of text.
Nekotori 739 Posted September 27, 2014 Facts about Anime Horizon: -It's a game... no seriously xD It's a game that will be using a similar fashion to card collecting games/apps. -It will be designed for the casual players, sorry hardcore rpg fans xD -It will also feature non-anime characters as extra goodies
LordSquirrel 150 Posted September 27, 2014 Death to the hardcore! Uh, I mean it's good that you've set what audience you're going for. And now that I've done another post... 1. My first project was a medieval fantasy game about a school of magic users and was meant as a sort of homage to the persona series. 2. The first combat area of The Plague was originally just a straight forest road. 3. The stream project I'm working on called The Vallenfell Chronicles was named after a character in a short story I wrote.
SpookyMothman 361 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) But soon, your stream project is going to be called "Spooky Derails Squirrel's Stream, Starring Franker Z". I kid, of course. I like your stream. This is gonna be tricky for me. I haven't said much about Home, so I'm not sure how much context anybody has for this. But here goes, anyway. > I've been working on Home for, like, two years (progress has been very slow). It's gone through a lot of changes, and the only thing that's been consistent this whole time is the lead character, June. Characters, settings, tones... everything has changed, except for her. She's been the lead character in every project until I started working on Home. Her design and personality have remained unchanged this whole time. She's just become more and more developed since then. ... um... the leftmost girl in my sig is June, by the way. > I had only three main characters for a long time, and I had trouble coming up with a fourth. I talked to my older brother about what I was missing, and he jokingly said "I dunno, just put a tsundere in it". So that's how Lyn happened. ... she's the far right girl in my sig. That's Lyn. This doesn't count as a fact, I'm just pointing it out. > Home is kind of an experiment. I want to see how much character development can carry a game's progression. I'm also really bad at writing stories, so that probably has something to do with it. Edited September 27, 2014 by SpookyMothman

Milton Monday 63 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) 1) I just realized haven't worked on my project for almost two months. Well, damn. Life has been keeping me busy. 2) In it's very earliest stages, the game was going to be about a little girl who builds robots to fight on her behalf. Somehow it ended up being set in a high fantasy analogue of Wales starring a twenty-something sorceress. Go figure. 3) A large element of the plot is a sort of homage to/rip-off of "The Keys of Marinus", a story from the first season of Doctor Who. TheoAllen 830 Posted September 27, 2014 My turn then : My only complete game was my 4th game I attempted to made. The rest are either hiatus or canceled. It was not intended to make a game. Just a script demo. But as the time passed, I suddenly wanted to make it as a real game After I finished the game, I was really burntout and I abandoned completely RPG Maker for two weeks.
Mei 78 Posted September 27, 2014 - I came up with the idea for my current project's plot, Apple Pie, while remaking a map of my first game.- Also, the plot was loosely based on a really bad and glitchy game I made once, called "Kind Heart"...we don't talk about Kind Heart. Ever. - I often think up AUs and ridiculous situations for my game's characters...the main character became a goddess, and started a whole religion...I want to somewhat reference that in the actual game, dunno how, though.
Knighterius 502 Posted September 27, 2014 Indie Horror: Twin Souls 1) it was first based on a doll who was made from different girls body parts 2) I got the name from the game: Beyond: Two Souls 3) I also have some elements of the Witch's House
TheoAllen 830 Posted September 27, 2014 The short-hair blonde girl who appears in my signature was came from my project, Journey to Skynesia She was based on my ex Her name is Nella while the guy in the right one is Allen. Well, both names are anagram from each other lol
SpookyMothman 361 Posted September 27, 2014 - Also, the plot was loosely based on a really bad and glitchy game I made once, called "Kind Heart"...we don't talk about Kind Heart. Ever. I think you gotta, now~ > Home currently has 22 Wait commands for enemies. It also has about 18 different Normal Attacks for enemies, all with the same damage formulas. I really like flavor text. > The first tilesets I made for Home were for a sewer dungeon. Aw yeah, weirdly labyrinthine RPG sewer systems! > I tried to make a Shin Megami Tensei fangame once. This was long before I had any idea what I was doing, so... it was bad.
TheoAllen 830 Posted September 28, 2014 > Home currently has 22 Wait commands for enemies. It also has about 18 different Normal Attacks for enemies, all with the same damage formulas. I really like flavor text. Lol, it's good to know that not only my game that enemy has different normal attack yet it has same damage formula xD Mostly I made my skill damage formula to me more something like this "(a.atk * 4 - b.def * 2) * 1.5" << Depends on the skill. The stronger skill, the larger number I put xD There is no fixed amount of number in damage formula. The more your character level up, the more bonus you will get. Even H.pot The actors was named Sun, Moon, and Star
digitalstorm977 2 Posted September 28, 2014 Ok, let's go: I'm torn between using front-view and side-view because I'm using custom characters and don't want to trouble anyone to make battlers as I can't sprite(and I feel front view only really works for immersion if you are using a single silent protagonist). I'm torn between two ideas, one about psychic powers, and the other one about life after death. I only have one map made, but it has a few bald spots on the landscape so I won't let myself move on from it.
magic2345 252 Posted September 28, 2014 Fun facts: - I have been trying to make a sideview battlesystem work for my game since RMXP, Sadly, I underestimated the amount of work and burned out multiple times. - I have this tendency to like and usually take interesting story paths in games and in real life, which leads to trouble. - My first ever game title (on RM2000) was Tales of Aulice : The Seven Elements (GAH). The title screen's background was a....Kingdom Hearts wallpaper. Dang, thinking about it now, it was really really embarassing. XD
Spectre 829 Posted September 28, 2014 (edited) Speaking of which, I really should get back to Fantasy Impromptu, but eh. Whatever. - The game was inspired by Final Fantasy, just as Austin Powers was inspired by James Bond. - The game is called Fantasy Impromptu because everything in game was made up by me on the spot. - Grinding is not an option. - This is the first game I've made where a necromancer joins your party. - The character Guillaume was named after one of my favorite filmmakers, Guillermo del Toro. - I originally wanted to make full-body, vector sprites, but they turned out surprisingly bad. - I am revamping all map systems so everything has a more inky feel. + Retired 274 Posted September 29, 2014 1) Promise is my first rpg maker project which was originally based off the tutorials on rpgmakerweb 2) Character designs are based off several anime characters / video game characters which I have enjoyed recently. 3) The gears in the Promise logo aren't just their for decoration.
Quasi 54 Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) My project doesn't really use stats/levels. Levels are only to learn new skills, stats do not change. After you beat a certain part of the story ( usually a boss.) you will receive an upgrade point which you can use on your equipment to increase str, def, agi or int. You can only increase each stat up to +4. At 2, 3, and 4 you get extra bonuses besides the stat increase, like a new passive or unlocks a skill. Stats can be reset before every mission. Battle system is an on map battle, like chrono trigger, and it is a bit unique. You have multiple actions per turn. The amount of actions depends on your stats, by default it's 3 ( ex: agi can inc the amount. ) Some actions cost 1 while others cost 2 or 3. Action times were rewritten so actions don't all run one after the other, instead it is like: Player Action1 then Enemy Action1 | Enemy Action2 then Player Action 2 | Enemy Action 3 then Player Action 3 where they are split into turns and actions with faster speeds run first. Milton Monday 63 Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) 1) There are eight equipment slots per character. They are all labeled "Item". This is because they will all accept any type of equipment. It's complicated... Well, actually, it's really not. It's kind of like the early SaGa games, but without breakable weapons. 2) I was originally going to include item crafting/enchanting. I decided against it because... ( A ) I want to finish this game eventually, and... ( B ) it detracts from the anticipation and excitement of opening a chest if all you're going to find are boring materials and equipment substantially inferior to what you're going to cobble together out of random garbage and scrap metal five minutes later. 3) There are random encounters. This is not negotiable. I will not apologize. Yes, I have the know how to make a touch encounter system, but I'm not going to. I happen to like random encounters. So there. Darkanine 116 Posted October 2, 2014 -My project was inspired by a few things, a chat between me and a few friends in a chat room, Harry Potter and the anime Soul Eater. -My games characters are split into several school dorms, all are named after mythical creatures or figures (Phoenix, Leviathan, Spirit, Sphinx, Goliath and Drac). -Some of my side-characters were inspired by historical figures, like a warrior based off Alexander the Great and a hunter based off Boudica, a Celtic warrior queen. LordSquirrel 150 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) Nice to see all of the facts being put up. 1. In The Plague there was original only supposed to be one party, but I recently decided that at certain points there will be a choice to switch between other characters in the story at different locations. 2. In one of my first projects Crimson Souls the main character of the game was one of the main inspirations for the main character of The Plague. 2B. Crimson Souls was also the whole reason why I started working on the game that The Plague came from. It was originally supposed to be the start of the timeline for Crimson Souls. 3. My third project was supposed to be a murder mystery game set in a medieval village where you played as an investigator for the kingdom's mage guild named Shepard who was named after my grandpa's dog. Maliki 33 Posted October 7, 2014 Ummm... - I have been working on my game Calibur A's for the better part of 5 years (Loved me some Nanoha!) - It used to be called Calibur VX (So original...) - I'm realizing more and more that I'm basing the gameplay on the Souls series. LordSquirrel 150 Posted November 24, 2014 1. My current project originally only featured a single party, but now features four parties comprised of different character with their own goals. 2. My game's back story has many similarities to dark souls but the majority of it was written before I had even heard of dark souls. 3. The werewolves in my game were originally meant to be able to shift between, a human form, a were from, and a wolf form, but it has been changed to where they are stuck in their were form. Spectre 829 Posted November 25, 2014 Right. Fantasy Impromptu. Let's see... 1. I named one of my characters Ballantine when I was browsing my home liquor cabinet. 2. The city of Hathaway is named after Anne Hathaway, and the district of Hewitt after Jennifer Love-Hewitt. 3. My project was based off a random idea I coined in the shower, but the amount of research on governance, politics, aerodynamics, mechanical engineering and Victorian era military alone easily amass 3 days. + MinisterJay 73 Posted November 29, 2014 Three facts about our current project Bobbi Ficus (Paglalakbay ng Diwata). 1. The game will introduce the Swarm Effect: Each additional team members adds different attribute bonuses to the other team members. 2. For the final Boss battle, there will be 8 party members. 3. In the middle of the game, Bobbi's class will be determined by the composition of other team members, once there are over 5.
