open world Blood of Life: Open World Skyrim/Final Fantasy-like RPG

Recommended Posts

I am currently looking for people willing to contribute to my latest project Blood of Life, while I have the rest of my games on hold since Skype is broken for me and I need to fix it to work with my other developers. In Blood of Life, you live in a wasteland, rid of oil and most of its fresh water. Climate change has taken its toll, swallowing up major Islands and lands near water. It depicts the future when we are stuck with no more than miles of dirt and sand, and civilization in ruins near the original battlefields of the fourth world war. By then, the nuclear fallout from such war has caused a few people to gain certain abilities that are either god-like or demonic. You can choose which way to go, but you are stuck on that track until death itself has come for you. Your goal is to claim the blood of the demons you kill, however be aware that the more demons you kill, the more your life goes to waste. Soon, you will have to resort to using cold hard weapons that no longer have much ability to them without your blood circulating through them. Can you explore and conquer all of Chi? Will you run out of life-energy before you reach any goals? It will all be up to you, and remember to save often (around once every 15 minutes), there are certain points where you will easily be defeated since you do not have the necessary power and or the tools. There is no autosave.

What I need help with:

  • Character Design
  • More Story Development
  • Design of Weapons, Abilities, Items, and Such
  • Art
  • Ruby Coding
  • Testers

I am taking a maximum of 3 testers to test the game, write down all issues/bugs, then to report it in to us devs (5 if needed)

I am taking a maximum of 5 character designers to make the characters (10 if needed)

I am taking a maximum of 5 Writers to make the story (8 if needed)

I am taking a maximum of 10 Item/Weapon/Ability/ect. Designers to design weapons and things alike (12 if needed)

I am taking a maximum of 10 Artists to make concept art, in-game graphics, and such (15 if needed)

I am taking a maximum of 6 Ruby Coders to make scripts for the game (12 if needed)

Hopefully I'll get the positions filled up soon, as for I am eager to develop the game further. If I develop it alone, I am certainly to have a hard and long time working on it. I am not experienced in Ruby coding and certain art. However, I can certainly slowly work on the other jobs if needed. Anyone who helps is entitled to a fair share of the profits if sold on Steam and or such, however you do not have to recieve the payments if you wish not to do so.

I will update this post once I get the team set up, it will have the main information of the game included. For now, this will be a placeholder telling of the information of the game and what I need right now.

I would be interested in testing it when its nearing the end of its alpha build, etc... But I wouldn't be able to contribute beyond that. I have SEVERAL projects going and I barely have the energy and time to spend on most of them.

What exactly do you mean by open world? You going to try and figure out a way to do huge maps or seemless map transitions, or is it going to be more like the SaGa series were maps are laid out more like a final fantasy game, possibly with a overworld and stuff, and you simply have very little restriction on where you can go and what you can do in what order?

By open world, I mean that there is a huge 1000x500 world that is the main map (with a few hundred other smaller maps acting as individual houses, cities, forests, mountains, dungeons, ect). It is a large and complicated game by far, but it certainly is possible. I may make a few 1000x500 maps if I want a planet to explore.

Just keep in mind that massive maps can cause a great deal of lag on the game engine, especially if you're running scripts and processes in the background.

Just something to be mindful of before working on them.

How many 1000x500 maps have you made before?

Tiles, and I meant to say 450x500. I over estimated what I was going to do (500x500 is max I can do in game, still HUGE). I've worked on a few experimental games with 500x500 maps, they've worked perfectly fine. If lag becomes an issue, I will cut the map into smaller maps that you can travel through from one side to another through a gate.

Hey, I'm new here but have a good experience in eventing and making maps in VX Ace. I have a pretty much knowledge to make various shops and custscenes. I'll help you but only at one cost that you shall credit me and listen to my advice. After doing up your work, I'd be pleade if you help me out with my game.

My advices -

  • Divide the map into 100x100 tiles, it will ensure lag free gaming and compaitable with various script.
  • Don't think on development first write down your story in detail.
  • Make custom tilesets (I can hellp you out)
  • If you want my help I will continue

Hope we can work together.
