Tarq 746 Posted November 21, 2014 Hey RMers, So I've been struggling with creating large areas of late; as is, it'd be more accurate to describe the city in my project as a street. What I'm struggling with is the vertical aspect (I dont think there's much need for a screenie but I'll post if its requested). Building's in city centres tend to build upwards to accomodate for a lack of space to build outward. In the 2D world of RM this is very problematic; sure we can make behind the buildings passable, but its still consuming a lot of screen. Ideally, I'd like to have a town square kind of situation with buiding's surrounding a centre space, but this creates two problems: -how to make the buildings on the sides aesthetically appealing, and -how to make the builings at the bottom (with storefronts facing towards the centre space, invisible to the player) recognisable for what they are. If you have any suggestions (or better yet, examples) I'd be grateful to hear them.
magic2345 252 Posted November 21, 2014 An idea just popped into my head. Use pictures for the high parts of the building, then when the player is somewhere where he should be able to see behind the building, lower the opacity of the picture so that they can see. You can set which tile will do this using player touch events. Note: I haven't tried this out yet, so there may be problems.
