The ESP Challenge

Recommended Posts

Summary:
You have to beat my ESP Test game:
http://www.rpgmakervxace.net/topic/26368-the-esp-test/

Statistically, you will get an average of 4.8 correct guesses per round, so this is a very difficult game. You have infinite tries. The first person to win this game is eligible to win a prize, yes, a real physical prize. Honestly, the chances of winning are extremely small. You don't have to accept the prize or even tell us that you beat the game if you don't want to. The information regarding claiming the prize is only available to those who beat the game. There is no such thing as cheating in this game.

Mostly, I think it would be fun to try to beat your own score and to beat other people's scores. See who can get the closest to winning. Actually, if you give us a screen shot of your score, we would be willing to host the top score.

Strategies:

There are three main strategies to win:
#1. Actually having ESP and having the right kind of ESP. Not to mention having a high the degree of proficiency with that skill. It's highly unlikely that anyone has all those factors, at least not without already knowing it... and if you know you have it, why are you wasting time with this and not at a casino?

#2. Play rounds without correction. This means that you can click the buttons as fast as you like and even extend the amount of chances you have (the most I've seen is 26 tries in a round.) This allows you to win the game with a score of 24/25 or 24/26 or even 26/26. These rounds can be faster and that allows more tries in a period of time.

#3. Play rounds with correction Although statistically, the different slight variations should be the same, I personally noticed that I score higher on average with the corrections than without and that I answer correctly in streaks of three or four at once. There are only two rationals reasons that I can conclude from it. The first is that from playing with corrections, the individual's subconscious mind responds to the negative and positive stimuli and attempts to find a pattern (which theoretically exists in a complex algorithm.) Of course, no one could ever fully know that pattern because there isn't enough space in a round to know where you are in the pattern. The second is that for some odd reason, maybe the fact it forces a longer time between functions in the code, the computer ends up just being more lenient.

Odds of winning:

You have a 20% chance of scoring with each card. You have a 0.00117216repeated% of beating my game. So the odds of winning are about slightly better than 1 in 100,000. So, you are equally as likely to be killed by a bee sting as winning my game.
The chances of winning the lottery is about about 1 in 120,000,000. So you are far more likely to win this game than a lottery... and this game doesn't carry so much risk, you don't lose anything by playing.

Prize:
The first person to win gets a free Tshirt, a book on ESP/parapsychology... As well as $20.
And all lower categories of prizes.

The first five people:
A free copy of my first commercial game (when it comes out.)

Top 50 get main characters based off of them in other games of mine.

Current highscores are kept on my signature.

Congratulations to Glasses for winning the Grand Prize!
