@Spec: Daaaaaw, why are the Dingbats so cuteeeeee?! I want a plushie of one~! :wub: Everything is looking great~! I'm super excited to see what the finished 'sprite' looks like. 

 

@Tsar: Oh my gosh, those pictures are so lovely! I love sketches, because I feel like they tend to have a form or 'presence'(?) that get's lost in the world of strict line art and uber-specific coloring. Lady Finnghers is gorgeous! I'm totally looking forward to more! (Hows your tablet, by the by? I assume it's either been fixed or replaced by now?)

 

And that indoor/outdoor map is so pretty! Beautiful sunlight effect~ I've been trying to figure out how to make an indoor garden kind of place for...a year. Oh my gosh it's 2015 and I still haven't gotten it together!   :o

Thanks! I had so much fun drawing her XD Sketching is really relaxing! I mean, I love linearting and color and all that, but there's something nice and free about sketching that I can't get over. Hehe~ 

 

My tablet has been fixed and is up and running--and better than ever actually :3

 

Don't worry about that map ^-^ Don't rush things! Like you said...rushing things never turns out well! So take it easy :)

Just to show off how much you can do in 2 and 1/2 hours....

 

NPC Lavender the gardener. I know it seems I'm spending an awful lot of time doing random fanciness with NPCs, but 1) it's a good opportunity to practice my spriting skills, and 2) it's all for the immersion! Since SS is a relatively small game, I can afford to use some super-customised graphics to make this game seem all the more real and all the more impressive! Though maybe I should be spending more time on the PC sprites whoops well let's just ignore that for now~

*squeals* that sprite animation is too adorable! And you did all this in under 3 hours?! The sprite alone would take me that long, at least! Lavender looks like she'll be beautiful and charming. Is gardening/farming going to be an actual feature in the game, or is it just her personal job? :)

 

And I'm so happy to hear your tablet is better! Enjoy it, lol. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. <3

As far as I can tell, it's just her personal job XD I bet Spec and I could implement that system, but I'm trying to keep Sugar Sweet simple. And he's already made it more complicated. *glares* ;) jk jk~ it's true though...hehe. 

 

I use up so much time making dynamic poses for my NPCs X3 But it's so worth it. The game is going to be so beautiful X) ...errr, assuming I can figure out how to put in all my stuff. I have troubles with that sometimes. Whoopsie! 

 

You're so right, though. Even when my tablet goes wacky (it still does...sometimes...bleh) I don't get annoyed at it anymore ^-^ I'm just happy to have it back! <3

Don't worry about all the bits and pieces. Tsar and I are in the process of placing them all over the place. Well, mostly me. She just churns out the NPCs and pretty graphics, XD (aaand pretty much everything important. I'm just here for the database :c )

Aaaand....the battle system which is pretty much the biggest part of the project ;) Don't underestimate your influence!

 

SS is taking a break today...at least from my relentless graphical testing. XD I'm really enjoying this project! Ariel is so heavy I don't think it's realistic for a one-man job, and this is much easier especially with a partner to work with. :3

Hokay, everyone, speaking of combat, I've made a major update.

Introducing to you the first 2.0 Sprite to hit the world: Brie.

Every single frame you see here is hand-drawn, and every movement tested for maximum fluidity. The result: a fairly large animation, but one that boasts fluidity unparalleled by any other RMVXA resource online. Brie is just the most fluid of them all, since her attack animation is especially slow.

Moreover, every single battle you see in the game will have a similar consistency: a hand-drawn combat "sprite" for maximum authenticity and cuteness.

 

That being said, it'll take awhile to make all of them, but rest assured that this is what you'll expect when you play Sugar Sweet.

 

Terms and Conditions for 2.0 Sprite Usage

 

 

I will not take free requests for 2.0 Sprites. They will be released to the public if available.

All Sprite Commissions are not entertained at the moment; at least, until Sugar Sweet is out of the way.

 

All 2.0 Sprites created in this thread are property of Spectre Studios and M.I.S.T. productions, and are not to be used in other projects.

Sprites created are compatible with Kread-EX's Animated Battler Script. I will not be making demos on how to import them to your projects.

Ah, most of it's random junk files from all over the place. After a bit of chopping we've reduced the core modules (sans music) to about 100+ MB or so. We're expecting a final product of 400-ish.

 

The price you pay for heavy customization, hehe.

Still I love that you try to make it as custom as possible. :3 Now that is dedication despite the size hehe~

BTW, which reminds me, Knighty, if you could send me a spritesheet of your apple knight via PM (with walking animations), that'd be great. Min, I'll need the touhou character you chose in our PMs, preferably Ace style.

You'll find out what it's for eventually, hehehe.

 

I digress. Here's an update:

Meet your Power Pip vendors, Vanille and Koko! They'll be selling the only equipment you'll get in-game: Power Pips, delicious Japanese konpeito with an added magical kick. Each one adds unique properties, and you can equip up to 4 of the same Pip in battle, per character. :3

 

A few fun facts, though!

- Vanille's favorite song is You Keep Me Hangin' On by Kim Wilde (covering Vanilla Fudge). Koko's is Chocolate by The 1975.

- Koko has a degree in gastrophysics from Chocsford University.

- Vanille is a black licorice belt, 2nd dan at Chew Jitsu.

- Oddly enough, Vanille's favorite drink is Bailey's Irish Cream. Koko's favorite is Liquore Galliano L'Autentico.

I love how you drew them! You've improved a lot Spectre. :D They're so pretty. \o/ (!)

Story progress is really sort of on hold as we get all the graphics in. ....Well, not really all the graphics. more like, just the big graphics that we need for now, because I'm too lazy to draw everything, and Spec is working harder than I am on this project, which really isn't fair to him, though it's turning out beautifully--

 

--Err, I mean...progress is great. Very great. :D

Aww. Thanks love. I actually took inspiration from your friend Sessie and yourself (^~^), and I thought I'd try something with cuter features and a mulatto as a base rather than "Japanized white chick". Gotta say I prefer Koko to Vanille (don't tell her that, she's sensitive).

Y'know, now that you mention it, she does look a lot like Esmerelda (I had to google who she was though. Shame on me.)

HOWEVER, I might have an edited spite up for you guys today! ^-^ It's about time Ashure got a sprite that wasn't so...RTPish and strange. (No offense to her! But it looked a little odd :()
