A good place to start is to do some of the beginning tutorials that can be found:

http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/support/products/tutorials

Try to go through those and then you can search the forum or ask questions here about certain things that you do not understand.

Here's my tip dude. http://www.rpgmakervxace.net/topic/29737-could-use-a-mentor-to-help-me-start/

Have your own organized goals before watching all the tutorials. It would just get you confused all if you did not.

Example:

Goal 1: I'll learn all about the rpgmakervx ace interface. How all the buttons work and such.
Objective for Goal 1: I'll watch tutorials on rpgmakervx ace interface.

Then: Try it for yourself. Test all the buttons.

Goal 2: I'll start building my characters.

Objective for Goal 2: I'll watch tutorials all about character building.

Then: Proceed to the database and create your characters

Goal 3: I'll start learning events.
Objective for Goal 3: I'll watch tutorials about events.
Then: Try making one simple event for yourself.

So on....

My post on the link i provided is just similar to this one. So keep it in mind that you can not do everything in one sitting. Focus on one area then move to another.

Remember this is just a tip to avoid getting too much exhilaration and/or confusion. It's all up to you man. Good luck. ;)

In a game you need to set milestones an goals for example!

Goal 1: I will start my mapping with all my maps to be made for chapter one, then apart from that I will get my main characters and make sure they are all suited to my needs!

Goal 2:I will search around for scripts to see if I can make my game better for playing experiences, then I will add them to my game to see if they are suited to my needs.

Goal 3: I will out all of this together  and start development.

MILESTONE REACHED!

It is all about setting goals for yourself and your game

Most of the time learning "on the go" is a good method. Make a small project and get used to the interface.

Gallade makes a good point. I've learned most of what know by just tinkering around in the engine.

"Hmm... I wonder if its possible to make this with events...?" And then I just experiment with different ways to make it work.

You'll be surprised at how powerful events are and how much you accomplish with them.

I agree with you guys. However, I was talking about personal motivation on continuing on your project on the long run 'cause no matter how you many knowledge you acquire but when you dont have enough motivation or inspiration you might not be able to finish your project very well, or maybe even finish it for good. I mean it's how I go about things. It's up for the user whenever he feels like he wants to use my method.

I understand guys. Anyhow, thank you very much. :P;)
