+ LadyMinerva 998 Posted January 16, 2015 For now it looks very very nice~ The only thing I can see is in the throne room (2nd picture) the perspective on the walls are a little wonky, targeting mostly on the left and right side. It's mostly intentional to put the roof tiles on the left and right side because you can't see walls on a bird's eye view~ I can't really say much to be honest because you pretty much have the standard mapping for these as of now~ Great work! There is something about the castle walls on the very top of the first picture but I can't put my finger on it right now....
Baltorh 8 Posted January 16, 2015 First of all thanks for the fast reply Lady Minerva By covering the left and right side walls do you mean i got to cover all the blank area or just the top of these walls with the roof tiles?
+ LadyMinerva 998 Posted January 16, 2015 First of all thanks for the fast reply Lady Minerva By covering the left and right side walls do you mean i got to cover all the blank area or just the top of these walls with the roof tiles? Something like that~ Here is a sample screenie at what I'm hinting at~ Basically, since you don't see the left and side walls, you want to cover them with a blank roof tile (of your choice). Since it's also an interior type, you normally don't see the outside walls, but the bottom walls can be an exception since some games do it~
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted January 16, 2015 The thing about the castle walls it that due to perspective, they make look like the forward block battlement thingies connect to the main part of the castle, but if you "tilt" that perspective in real life and view it as if it were real, the top of your battlements don't actually connect to the main body of the castle! I would extend that set of 3 tiles of the main castle wall (above the orange flowers) down a tile or two, and it'll look and be much more connected
Baltorh 8 Posted January 16, 2015 i think i get it i will work on that thanks alot to both of you , if you got any other tips please tell me i look forward to it You girls rock Thx senpai!
Knighterius 502 Posted January 16, 2015 Yeah, probably just the perspective of the second map x). it kinda throws the room off quite a bit. Don't forget that the rtp comes with roof and walls where I think you've only used walls which kind of makes it hard to judge the perspective as well. Remember that as a player we are kind of at an angled birds eye view so with that in mind just work with perspective to execute your fantastic maps to their fullest. Keep up the good work~ -Knight
Radiant Arin 412 Posted January 16, 2015 I would also like to toss in a little something. For your castle, in the first screenshot, I don't know if it's either cut off and we can't see all of it, but most (if not all) manmade temples and castles usually tend to be symmetrical. The west side of the castle is 4 tiles wide, while the east side of the castle is 6 wide. It would look better if you shaved off one from the east side and added 1 more to the west side to balance the perspective a bit. It might screw with the garden and the ramparts of the castle/temple, but if you make it look symmetrical it will make more sense, as opposed to just having it be bigger on one side than the other. And for the second map, it's necessary that you put the corresponding ceiling tile for that wall. Otherwise, you'd be able to walk down onto the walls and off the map; that's another reason why it's important to put in ceiling tiles.

I knew there was something about that first map that gave me the fruits...it was the symmetry or rather the lack of symmetry. Good pick up

Knighterius 502 Posted January 17, 2015 Thank you Senpai! ^.^ One day i will be ready for the parallax mapping! XD ...You're welcome Parallax mapping isn't "all that" but it's definitely a great way to get extra immersion. I enjoy parallax mapping if you ever do decide to go down that road be sure to check out the Minerva Method. ^~^
