Darthneko 7 Posted February 4, 2015 I'm not sure I'm in the right area - apologies if I'm not! I've looked all over and read all the formatting autotile tutorials I could find, but I still have a question: See the bit outlined in red? How do you make that part for an autotile? Which other parts are you clipping and pasting or cropping to make that part? I'm pretty sure I understand the rest of it but in this example of the rug I'm making I have no idea what to do with that bit in the upper right hand corner. What is it for and how do I make it so that it matches with the rest?
Tsukihime 1,489 Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) I think this one covers that specific part http://blog.rpgmakerweb.com/tutorials/anatomy-of-an-autotile/ EDIT: though, after I read it again, it doesn't seem to elaborate on it. It sort of looks like you just cut out most of the second layer except a very small corner to make up the "inside" corner? Darthneko 7 Posted February 4, 2015 Yeah, that one confused me. I think I could fudge it with something fuzzy like grass, but the geometic pattern is giving me a headache. Guess I'll just keep tweaking it until it works. Thank you!
roccstar1oh1 19 Posted February 4, 2015 you will need to split your picture into a 16x16 grid. i only did the one corner, but if you see the pattern the other corners should be self explanatory.
Warden5 1 Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) you will need to split your picture into a 16x16 grid. i only did the one corner, but if you see the pattern the other corners should be self explanatory. actually you should do 16 8×8's rather than 4 16×16's. That way you get the four corners 2 for each side and 4 interiors, the four interiors pattern repeats as if it was one, as do the two per side. I'm on my phone now so I'm not able to put up a picture. This method worked for me, try starting with something simple like a checkerboard rug with a boarder. edit: it is 16x16. i was on my phone as i said and only could see the lines and actual grid pattern >.< sorry about that. at work with time constraints and all.... Darthneko 7 Posted February 4, 2015 Thank you! I will try this.
Warden5 1 Posted February 4, 2015 ok. so we start out with the full thing then we split the normal single tile, the inside corners, and the rest of the autotile finally we split it into all of its components and put a few together for a demonstration the rest is described in my previous post, and i dont feel it needs picture demonstration, just keep in mind that it will always keep that checkerboard pattern. Warden5 1 Posted February 4, 2015 glad that made it easier for you, my project is currently on hold due to the team not being in the same state at the moment so feel free to ask if you need anymore help (I'll still help once the project restarts, just might not be as quick)
