Welcome to the world of Etheron - a land of magic, legend and old school gimmicks. Seriously though, this game takes place in a fantasy world that I hope to use as the base for future games. Primarily, this game is to force me to sit down and finish. Which is part of the reason why I am posting here. I want your feedback. I have a demo attached and would love you to try this out. I don't want this to be an extremely long game, but something with a decent story and some fun. So sit back, hit that download button and try it out, please!

Download the Demo here.

In Etheron, legend speaks of the powerful Dark One who once ruled over mankind with an iron fist and a terrible eternal night... The Moon Festival celebrates mankind's defeat of the Dark One as the Lord King used all his life-force to once again raise the light and drive away the Dark One for good. Or so man thought... This year marks the 100th anniversary of the defeat of the Dark One and some ancient prophecies foretell of his return...

In the quiet village of Retrats, Dirk awakens from a strange dream only to find himself chosen by the goddesses and propelled into a quest to once again save mankind...

Excellent, a first game! :) Looks like you're well on your way to learning the tricks and tactics of the engine. Wish you best of luck on this!

Thanks! :) While this is my first game from start to finish *crosses fingers* I've been a lurker around here and with the various makers in the past (vx, vxa, xp, and way back to rmk2003)... love the programs, just been more of a hobby... would love to do a commercial game at some point (custom art and everything), but I'm determined to finish a small game beginning to end to prove to myself I can do it...

Part of the reason for posting it here... some accountability and push from yall to keep me going. :)

It can be rather time-consuming!  I've been kicking around ideas for my project ever since the days of untranslated RM2k!  It hasn't been until this past several months that I've been able to make any substantial progress, because every time I finally started to, a new Maker would come out!

I'll add this to my playlist for downer days when I don't feel like working.  I should get time to play this sometime in the coming week.

Finally got some free time to dink around today so I gave this a run.  As it's still pretty short, I can only make a few observations!

Goddess:  You have to help us!

Dirk:  Why would I do that?

That line made my day, thanks lol.

The Earth Goddess said that she is remaining out of sight, but she is always with you as long as you have her Jadestone.  Have you considered using those stones to summon their respective Goddesses in battle?  That would be kind of a cool use for them, one because you get summon spells, and two because the Goddesses aren't just sitting back and watching, but actively participating in thwarting the disaster they are warning you about.

This could be done one of two ways: Either have it summon a party member who is the Goddess, or just be a powerful spell that invokes her briefly onscreen to cast it for you.  Either way would be neat.

During the Dragon fight, that would be a good opportunity to introduce some sort of battle gimmick, be it Limit Breaks or something.  When you have the Goddess cheering you on and saying that you're doing good, she could also instruct the player about the gimmick, and tell them to use it to beat the Dragon.

Finally, consider installing something like Yanfly's Enemy HP bars, which can incidentally serve as target markers in battles, since the selected enemy will be the only one showing its HP bar, making it easier to tell what you have selected.

I liked how you used the two unrelated battlebacks to actually look like a towertop, that was clever.
