Lukinobu93 10 Posted March 3, 2015 I've been working on this game since forever, first on XP, then on VX and now VXAce, and still haven't finished it yet. Mostly because I keep improving my mapping skills, change charachters and bla bla bla.. The following screens are of the first town, I wanted it to seem very familiar and "a happy place to live", so I took inspiration from the main town in "Children of Mana" for the nintendo DS and made it more Rpg style. These ones are of the second town, wich is supposed to be half destroyed by overgrowing plants. Finally, some screens of special effects in battle, costumized title screen and main menu(depending in wich city you are) ecc. I didn't post every single map I made for the game, but for now it's pretty big XD vut I'd love to know what you guys think
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted March 3, 2015 I really like how you made them! They're very bright and pretty as well I especially like the forest map you made! It's a clever technique that kinda mimics the RTP forest tree autotile and I like how it looks. Really beautiful and detailed screens as well. ^-^
magic2345 252 Posted March 3, 2015 Whoa, you reeeaaally succeeded in making a happy place to live. The first batch of screenshots look seriously cozy. I'd live there in a heartbeat. For the 2nd batch, I love the eerie and lonely feeling the houses give me. Especially the one with a huge tree sticking out. For the 3rd batch....you may want to consider upping the transparency of the background in your menus. As they are right now, reading the text is sorta hard. I almost didn't notice the gold and the LV of the characters.
+ Chaosian 617 Posted March 3, 2015 Extremely well done, awesome use of color. Parallax mapping I take it? The only issue I can see is that the Inn in the first set of screenshots is having some foundation troubles. One of the corners lies on a rounded edge. Also, the Inn has no road to it? The second set is absolutely awesome. Image 2 in particular is stunning. The third set looks good. Good face value.
TheoAllen 830 Posted March 3, 2015 I have no comments for those maps. They're all great. Good job But something that bugging me is if you make the menu transparent, at some point, it would be harder to read the text
@Monkeysnow55 8 Posted March 4, 2015 At first I thought you meant your 5 year old was working on a game and I was like: "Aw, cute!" But then I read it, very nice maps! Bright and colorful
+ Sinathor 72 Posted March 4, 2015 Really awesome mapping! How long did it take for you to make each map? Obviously it varies, but approximately? I'm starting to spend dangerously long times for mapping.... I have to learn some efficiency
Gui 61 Posted March 4, 2015 Nice stuff overall: keep up the good work!
merdouille 21 Posted March 5, 2015 This looks amazing! I could easily see these maps in an epic jrpg! I especially LOVE the forest!
Lukinobu93 10 Posted March 5, 2015 Well, what a success I see :3Then I'll post a few more, especially of the lonely city XD Extremely well done, awesome use of color. Parallax mapping I take it?The only issue I can see is that the Inn in the first set of screenshots is having some foundation troubles. One of the corners lies on a rounded edge. Also, the Inn has no road to it?The second set is absolutely awesome. Image 2 in particular is stunning. The third set looks good. Good face value. That could be true, but if you pay more attention, there's a root under the corner. I wanted to give the illusion that the house is built on the roots of the big tree behind it. Really awesome mapping! How long did it take for you to make each map? Obviously it varies, but approximately? I'm starting to spend dangerously long times for mapping.... I have to learn some efficiency Well, for the big starting city, two weeks. Mostly for the house designs and a LOT for the grass, details and flowers. But for the interiors, half a day. For the sad and lonely city, A LOT. like two months (The city is divided in 5 maps, one on the center and one on each side) This looks amazing! I could easily see these maps in an epic jrpg! I especially LOVE the forest! Thx unfortunately, it's just a transition map. You will see it in the game only for 5 or 6 seconds XD Overall thx to everyone for the nice comments! Hope to hear more soon!
merdouille 21 Posted March 6, 2015 The town is really incredible! There are so many things that intrigue me in it, and it honestly makes me want to know the story of that town. To have only maps creating such an atmosphere is a rare thing: usually music is a big part of it. I hope you continue making these maps, you're really good at it! Message me when your game is playable
+ Myst88 87 Posted March 10, 2015 Wow these are looking really good so far. Especially loving that forest. Are those 3 characters the only characters you play as? If so might I recommend Yanfly's party sized menu. It will resize the menu to fit however many party members you have. Just so you don't have that empty space where a 4th character might be. Knighterius 502 Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) *quits game making* Nup. I'm done. These are beautiful. I did sense a Secret of Mana vibe about them. Edited March 10, 2015 by Knighterius
Darthneko 7 Posted March 11, 2015 These are gorgeous! the first set especially, and I love how you did the forest in the second set. Like some other people mentioned, the transparent menu is a little hard to read, but other then that it looks great!

Not really. I mean in my game you travel trough dimensions, and in some dimension you will have a 4th character joining and then quitting a soon as you leave the dimension (or dies COUGH) Thanks everyone for the great support! OogieBoogie765 12 Posted March 16, 2015 These. Maps. Are. B E A utiful. lol I really love the way you did the second town with the plants The tree sticking through the roof and everything else actually looks like it belongs there. Most maps I've seen with nature and architecture intertwined made in RM look very forced and strange, but these are phenomenal ^-^
