I've been here many times and I'm wondering why I didn't leave any post here.

Anyway, this game really looks promising and I like horrors. I'm curious if it will scare me. =P

I'm really interested in playing this, so... best of luck and keep it up!~ *awaiting for the demo and news*

I'm glad you decided to post! It's nice to see the community continuing to show the project some support.

Since my graphics card has stopped working I can't use the RM editor, sadly the demo will need to wait until I get set up at a new job/apartment and until I get a new GPU in. All of that shouldn't take too long though, so I'm hoping to have the ball rolling again soon.

In the mean time I'm doing a lot of concept work with the team writer to develop the city better to make it more of an accurate representation of a 320,000 person city in North Carolina. Since the quarantine zone in the city is only so large (due to having realistic expectations with the size of the game), we're fashioning the story as part of the "downtown" area of Belkin -- a highly busy part of the city that is broken into nine distinct districts.

We've also hired a scripter so in time we'll have the combat system fully planned (and hopefully developed). The action element of the game will be better than I originally thought. Even though story will be this game's strong point I want the gameplay to be as interesting and fun. I'm taking a lot of inspiration from games like Chrono Trigger and Shadowrun (SNES).

As for the horror element of the game I'll be working hard to make many events dynamic and involving. I don't want every moment of the game to be simply scripted and predictable as I want the player to have to think on their feet from time to time. I've seen a lot of horror games that lose their edge after a while because you start to notice simple patterns. To help solve this problem we have Invenio which will make the threat of hostile people/infected much more apparent.

I'll just briefly say that there will be times when running and hiding are a better option than fighting, stealth is something I have to work on to perfect. The environment will actively help you or fight against you. How you use it will be what makes things so interesting.

So, aside from all of these things we -do- have progress! We have new sprites and bases to work with. I was fortunate enough to have had someone capable of doing Zombie Survival Graphics styled sprites which will make our characters stand out among other projects of its kind. I can't post a teaser just yet though. :)

We've also got some great weapon sprites in. We've decided that the demo will have a combat balancing mode (for feedback purposes on the battle system), and the first chapter of the game where Vincent is found by the survivors in the hospital.

In the mean time while I get things sorted out I'll be doing more planning as mentioned as well as some parallax mapping. I'll post some examples when they're ready. There's so much to do it's making my head spin, but I love developing this game.

I see serious business is happening there. =)

Glad you have a team for that and everything is well planned. Good luck!

Looks like it's gonna be a big serious project.

It seems really professional.

Good luck on your project!
