Storyline
Reni and her brother Kyn live in a small village in the southern part of Unda. Machina and anything to deal with it is outlawed in south. Reni was told by a passing dwarf that it was the people that had corrupted the machina and used it to get whatever they wanted in the past and cause a war. This made Reni question the way that her people thought and decided that the dwarf was right. She and her brother begin to do quests to collect the money they need to collect machina parts. When it is found out by the townsfolk that they were doing this they were banished from the town and told never to return again and put on the watch list.

Lore:

The people of Unda are a diverse people, comprising of elves, humans and dwarfs. They all mostly got along each helping the other to grow and expand the civilization. The dwarfs helped by building machina that could build things faster, and destroy monsters in their way. The elves helped with their magic and the humans helped with their ambition for more land.

The elves developed into three almost completely different races; the High Elves which mainly use magic and prefer to not interact with the other races of Unda, the middle class elves which are the merchants and warriors and don’t mind the other races, and the Dark Elves who are the assassins and stay to the dark.

The dwarven society has three ranks that are normally acknowledge; The nobility that rule the dwarves and would prefer that other races stay out of dwarven bussiness, the worker class which is the merchants, warriors and such that deal with other races as needed and the surface dwarves which all other dwarves hate and believe the surface dwarves have betrayed the dwarven race.

So they grew and expanded until a war happened between the north of Unda and the south. The people of Unda had gotten greedy and wanted more for themselves. They used the machina that were created to help people were used to rob and kill to achieve power and fortune in any way possible. The war ravaged the southern part of Unda, turning it into a desert wasteland. Many of the small towns and cities were destroyed and abandoned to the desert sands and lost to time. After the war the North became known as the Fair Land Region and the south became known as the Hollow Region.

Many of the people of the Hollow Region of Unda hate machina and believe that they are the root of all evil. The Fair Land of Unda believes that it depends on the user and that they can learn from the past. The dark elves completely hate the other races because the war destroyed most of their forests.

Deities:

Lumina: The goddess of light, she loves order over everything. She guards the hope in every person and is a benevolent goddess. She respects her followers and her followers are rewarded by their prayers to her. She blesses them with the ability to convince others not to give into darkness and they can illuminate a dark area for a time being.

Chaos: The god of darkness, chaos, un-order, and destruction. He loves to create chaos and hates the order that Lumina loves. He and Lumina are always fighting and the followers of each other them hate each other with a passion. Some people even believe that he gave the knowledge of machina to all of the races of Unda. His followers are blessed with dark powers to take away someone’s hope and have them give into despair.

They rarely fight as most of their followers don’t live near one another. Most of Shiva’s followers live near the top of the continent where it is always cold and covered in ice and snow. Her followers are blessed the ability to with stand freezing tempers in little clothing or armor.

Most of her followers live near ports or in port cities. Her followers are blessed with the ability to swim well not matter the race. Sailors pray to both Undine to control the waters and Sylph to control the winds during their travels at sea.

Terra: The goddess of the earth and forests. She protects the dwarves and the elves. The dwarves only believe in Terra and believe that all othher deities are lower than Terra even though that isn’t true. She helps things to grow no matter where they are. Her followers are blessed with a green thumb ability and the ability to find minerals in the ground.

Sylph: The goddess of air and wind creatures. She controls the winds and sailors come to her before departing to seek wind to favor them in their travels along with praying to Undine for favorable water conditions during their travel. Her follows live all over and don’t really fight with anyone as they are peace loving people. Her followers are blessed with high agility.

I tried and finished the whole demo. Took about 20minutes to complete. Here are my uncensored thoughts as I played the game. I hope this will help

The intro was short and I would've been nice if it had more than just 1 picture and maybe sounds or music. Maybe a little more meat on the bone too.

The mapping isn't good. It lacks thoughts, life and details. You should try to check out some mapping tutorials, they're great.

My character can go through a lot of stuff  (fence, desks, items, furniture) in this game especially in the village.

The music choices were good, except the boss ; I wouldve expected another theme than the normal battle theme.

I found another village in the mountains. Talked to one of the dwarves there and my game crashed. Then I came back  and noticed that the whole village seemed very buggy and unfinished. I don't think you wanted us to see this part... you should remove it from your demo if it's  the case.

All NPC are bland with 0 personality. The neko and the brother also have 0 personality at all too. The main character's personality is a little better but still very minimal and could also use a lot of work.

The battle system so far is very simple and lacks of any depth. It might be because it's the beginning of the game though. Battle are always easier and simpler. The way the gold/exp/enemies are balanced is weird. Some are useless muppets and others are way tougher. The very easy scorpion quest give you ~1500gold which is enough to buy all the best armors/weapons in the game and even some items.

Neko spell should cost way more than 4mp this imo.

Thank you for everything. I will be looking into all of this, I plan on the intro beginning longer and the dwarf village wasn't supposed to be there. The point of getting that much money is to actually get a machina part, which is mentioned in the tent with the brother. There is a black market seller in the same place that you get the quest. I was wondering if you saw the part about the two main characters getting kicked out of the village?

Yes I saw that machina thing it was 1000$ i think. When I saw the price I shrug'd it off my mind since it was way more than what I had and then completly forgot about it. I figured it was the kind of items that you purchase for later parts of the game so I just bought all the best armor/weapon with the quest money. Yes I saw this part, wasn't it a forced scene ?

Oh and one more thing I forgot to mention in the first post; the scene were you get captured and tossed into the royal prison.

When I got there I was looking around thinking about how I will escape this place... then I just clicked 1 button and got out instantly. That was a very disapointing prison break.

I plan on making the prison break a longer event. I just wanted to make sure that scene worked because I haven't done many forced scenes before. After the prison break you can't actually go back to the town as the king is going to put a warrant on your head.

Sounds like it could go somewhere. I'd love to be a mapper/spriter. I would say character art, but I haven't mastered profile pics yet. I have created some facesets.

What's the conflict of the story? I know they were kicked out of their village, but is that the climax of the story?

PM me and I will give you more detail to the story as I don't want to spoiler it for anyone else.

This project is staying a VX Ace project and I'm working on it along with Suikoden Ace as Demon Seals really just needs some polishing before I release it in December. I also have a new position at work that has also freed up some of my time to work on them both.
