+ Sughayyer 163 Posted June 29, 2015 Iter Impius (Evil Ways) Iter Impius is a sci-fi, J-RPG style game based on the universe of Adamah. It is basically a dungeon-crawling game with a mission-driven story. There are six characters plus the main character whom you can select from to assemble your party in different missions, each one with its own special features and abilities. Abastract: When the world of Adamah was ravaged by human greed, a group of people escaped to the moon where they have erected a city - Opet (the city on the moon, not the death metal band Opeth!). In the City of Dreams - as it is called - an utopian society was built under the reign of Selenia, the Great Mother, a goddess who guided the people out of the withering world of Adamah. In order to maintain peace and keep the city organized until the time they can finally return to their home, this society is strictly divided and all citizens have their roles. The whole city is maintained through the powers contained in the moxen. These objects contain an enormous amount of energy that manifests itself in different ways, from powering machines to altering children in their mothers' womb. You play the role of a Judge, an agent under the surveillance of a Commander who takes his orders from the Central Government. As any citizen class, Judges are prepared and genetically altered since birth to better serve their functions. But suddenly, things start to feel out of place. What are we waiting for? What makes us keep going on day after day? After an occurrence in one of the bioengineering labs (responsible for the maintenance of life in the moon), something clicks on your head. How long are we going to mindlessly perform our tasks, waiting to be consumed as sheep who walk towards the butcher's house? Will we all see life through this veil and find our place in the universe or are the heirs of Adamah destined to fade into oblivion? Characters: You: You can select your name, gender and appearance. As any other Judge, you had special education as a child and went to the special forces academy at 14. The special power of the main character is the ability to change shape. In addition, you have access to a couple offensive, disruptive and recovery abilities. Surge Ability: Morph. You start with a basic form but will acquire more in the course of the game. Cray: Cray once ascended to the highest post under the current commander, but fell from his post after successive reports of misbehavior. He is a depressed drunk who feels he failed to a person he was fond of. Since the Judge position is for lifetime and unrevokable, he was simply cast aside and forcefully retired. He is specialist in melee fighting and his movements are totally unpredictable. He has the power to use a limited form of metamagic in his attacks. Surge Ability: Element attack – Cray has six different element attacks. Lisa: Lisa is an old acquaintance of Cray. She profoundly despises him for deserting someone they know in the past. She is extremely hot-tempered, a result of her metamagical infusion gone wrong. Being more magically capable than Cray (she is able to use some defensive magics), but less experienced in battle, Lisa tries to be the perfect example of a Judge, but the lack of ability in controlling her emotions make her fail catastrophically. She has the ability of tapping into her inner self to increase her powers or to crush her enemies’ spirit. Surge Ability: Darkside – Lisa taps on her inner power to boost her stats. Catastrophe – Lowers enemies’ stats. Farrah: Farrah is a Judge specialied in stealthy and subversive jobs. She knows your character and acts as an older sister. Though usually more interested in the payment she gets by performing unnoficial jobs than anything else, she's not evil at heart. She can get top laces where most people can’t, and has a keen eye for finding stuff. Surge Ability: Mutilate – gradually lowers an enemy’s Max HP Doom Blade. – Creates a blade from void with a sudden death effect. Hawk: Hawk is a Judge under surveilance for destroying government property (a war machine) in a shady incidente which was never totally revealed. Somehow the Commander interceded on his behalf, and that saved his life. The common people look up to Hawk as a hero, but most ranked government workers are suspicious of him. Surge Ability: Grand Guard – protects all party members. Vendetta – damages based on lost HP. May: May is a young agent whom you meet and guide in her training mission. She’s naive and looks up to you for guidance. May thinks everything is novel and beautiful, overwhelmed by her new job as a judge. She uses healing and disruptive magic, and has the ability to help her friends or wreak havoc on her foes’ minds. Surge Ability: Invigorate – recovers HP and MP to the max (for one party member). Mindbreak Trap – induces all mental-state ailments on all enemies. Lucius: Lucius is a veteran judge specialized in metamagic. He’s acquainted to Cray and also tries to act as a conscience to Lisa. He tries to keep away from the spotlight as much as he can. He uses very powerful magic attacks. Surge Ability: Pyroclasm – extreme fire damage. Glacial Chasm – extreme cold damage. Supporting Cast: Commander Connery: He is in charge of the operations in Opet. Since the central government seldom make appearances, Connery is seen as the most important public figure in the city. He tends to trust his men even when this puts him in dangerous situations with the government. On the surface, though, he plays the stern commander who keeps everything in line. Asa & Mara: These two judges like to work together but sometimes work separately. They have a very narrow view of the world and the society, selflessly working to fulfill their orders to the best. They actively go out of their way to punish, repress or protect people, but they always seem to take the easiest and most obvious path. Maybe their loyalty is not a sign of blind faith, but plain lack of analytical thinking. Pata: Pata is your pet cat. She can talk and is very smart and curious. For some reason, pets were recently outlawed and most were collected by the government, but you managed to keep her. Malco: Malco is an old man who roams the South District slums. He screams about prophecies and people who will “save us†whatever this means. He is never taken seriously because he says to every single person he meets that he/she is the “chosen one†to “deliver themâ€. No one knows exactly why he became insane, and all attempts to have a conversation with him end miserably. Gameplay: The gameplay is very traditional – the story advances as you accomplish the mandatory missions. Side missions are also available to collect experience, money, items, etc. Early in the game you meet all characters and you can assemble your party according to the missions – some characters are better at certain situations than others. In addition, having certain characters in your party will yield different results in some missions. The characters have inherent metamagical abilities, and some of them can cast “spellsâ€. But all of them unleash special attacks when they get into “surge modeâ€. + Takeo212 1,079 Posted July 2, 2015 Seeing your progress and such on this game, I'm surprised it isn't submitted to "The Showroom" section. I like the idea you have overall. You gave an abstract of the story, thats good, but you haven't really explained any features or such, which might be why people are "uninterested" (probably not that case by the way, people just like lurking more than commenting lol) You say the game is a dungeon crawler with quests and such. Do you have any unique features (besides the battle magic idea, I like the sound of that and would like to read more on your magic lore and such). Maybe a few screenshots to demonstrate what you have? I am interested, but your haven't really shown off your game to the audience by basically saying "generic dungeon crawler". Also, don't reveal every character! Name the first maybe 2 you meet, and leave the others as a surprise to your player! Knowing everything that'll happen in your game takes away the eager adventurer spirit! Overall, I like how your story and abilities are, just maybe a bit more detail (not full story) on some magic/ability origins, and less character give aways Atleast, this is my opinion. I look forward to reading a bit more if you share :3 (I suggest making a Showroom post also since your so far through your game. Maybe a short demo to catch the viewers attention - of course, thats your call)
+ Sughayyer 163 Posted July 3, 2015 Right, I'm going to describe the game's mechanics now. I'll probably save the screenies for the Showroom post since I'll probably need a weekend to take them. Overview: The game is, as stated before, essentially a dungeon-crawler. There are missions to be accomplished, and as you finish them the story advances (much like Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Zero). Of course, there are optional missions - some of them require you to replay through a dungeon, others present you to new areas. At any time you can choose to go back to somewhere you've visited before in order to get more experience and items - and there are quite a lot of them. These missions range from breaking inside labs, fetching items in alien forests or invading government installations. Items: There are many items you can find along the game. Some are the typical recovery items (believe me, in this game you'll need them), some items have special effects during battle. Other items are merely quest items, but that doesn't mean you can't sell them instead of fulfilling your quest. The weapons and armor have random special slots where you can attack the moxen. That means a better weaon is not necessarily better, because a slightly weaker weapon can have mroe slots so you can attach more of them - thus making them more powerful. About the armors, it's not so simple - not only they have their defense value and their own mox slots, but they have yet another trait: different kinds of armor are made for different situations. A kevlar jacket is a good option against firearms (as well as a titainum frame), but lasers will bear holes through it. A refraction suit will make you immune to laser, but a blade or a beast's claw will tear you to pieces nonetheless. Sot that's yet another factor to take into account. Abilities: Each judge has a level of metamagical abilities infused into them even before they are born. These abilities not only make their bodies strong and minds keen, they can also be unleashed when they go into Surge mode. Other than that, some characters can effectively produce effects in the natural world with this power (one could call that magic). Plus the characters have their own traits. One character can pick locks (so you can avoid the trouble of finding keys and cards), another one can protect the weaker allies. It's up to you how to assemble your party before each mission, since you already have a good idea of what you'll find ahead (most of the time, anyway). Characters: As you gain experience, you gain ability points These are used to build your characters - their traits and magic (when available). New surge abilities can be unlocked, but these are harder to find and usually require a special mission - you have to be at the right place and at the right time. Certain characters can also unlock specific paths in the places you explore. All characters gather at a pub near the Central District (more on that below) so you can check on them and rearrange. Opet, the City of Dreams: The city is divided in five districts: Central, North, South, East and West. West District is where all stores are concentrated. South District is exclusively residential. East Districts is where the Domed Farms and Biosystem labs are located. The power plants are in the north. The central area is where higher-class citizens live, and has the best hospitals, pus, and also the Central Tower. To move around the city you have to use the subway system. But don't worry, if you get lost the subway clerk can give you directions. Combat: Being a dungeon-crawler, J-RPG based game, combat is very important. you can spot your enemies in the map, and combat is the classic turn-based, sideview system (I'm using TSBS because it's simply one of the best systems). Of course, not all missions require combat to be completed - some of them can be fnished with no combat at all. Well, that's it, I think I got all the basics covered. I'd be glad to answer more questions about it (if there are any) as well as post screenshots. As soon as I post it in the Showroom I'll add a message here too. If you have suggestions/comments/questions feel free to post here!
