Project So is a satirical game and as such; it contains strong language, gore, nudity, drug use and may also deal with subject matter as well in a fashion akin to South Park. It should actually be noted, however; that the content in the game does not necessarily represent the opinions of me and all depictions of public figures are entirely parodic or coincidental.

WTF is Project So, anyway?

Project So is a Role-Playing Game set in one of the United States located in the Midwest, and will have players play as various characters; with different perspectives in a manner somewhat similar to Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number.

 

It will also be a satirical video game and like most RPG Maker projects, it also has a turn-based battle system but will have inspiration from Deus Ex, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, EarthBound, the Hotline Miami duology and Fallout: New Vegas.

 

Genre

A role-playing game of sorts, pretty classic thing but you could also say it breaks tradition as you play as various groups of characters during the entire course of the game; who all have different goals in mind.

 

Game Progression

Well, I have completed work on four chapters (not counting prologue); and I am working on the fifth chapter and may add at least up to four chapters but the game is running fine, I do take breaks in order to keep my sanity since I do like playing other RPGs; and that even helps me build my games too. I am using RTP, DLC and Game Character Hub (bought myself) resources but I can't wait for my game to look glorious and worthy of the PC Master Race characters you will encounter. There may be a demo, but demos are only for game testers so far; and I only pick those I know closely as such.

 

Recruitment

Sadly, my budget isn't within the ability to hire others. It had cost me like $10 so far to even work on the game so that is why I am using resources that are freely and legally available to me, that could change depending on the budget but I may recruit for bigger projects. A shame RPG Maker VX Ace doesn't have a collaboration system, though.

 

 

Story, and Setting

Story: You play as various characters throughout the game; who discover that some crazy things are happening, clone attacks, cheese-hating terrorists, a company terrorizing a city and personally going after someone, it's never a dull moment as you play as various characters who face these crazy, yet bizarre threats in order to save themselves, the state they are in, and even the world too. You even must find out why everything's all crazy.

 

Setting: The game is set in the Midwest Coast, and in one of those states; let's also add that it's set in 2027, where everything you like, hookers and pot (gay marriage is already legal as of 2015) is all legal in the US; but on the downside (because we gotta take the bad with the good), the US has suffered some catastrophic, shape-changing earthquakes and Earth itself suffered bizarre events several years ago too. Currently I don't want to give away the location but it is pretty interesting; and will also have players visit other places too even for the briefest times, though I also can't give their locations; but they'll be just as interesting, and I could even revisit those places in future games I make and content updates as well.

 

Characters - I am only mentioning characters who appear during the first chapter, so you won't hear about characters who first appear in second chapters or so or characters who seem unimportant but actually are. I am also writing this like a video game manual but you can hear more about the characters as you progress through the game.

 

Ace: The main protagonist of the game. Ace is a Hispanic person who is bi-ethnic (Mexican-American), and has green eyes, and dyed blue hair. Ace lives with his best friend Daryl in a small house and also suffers from amnesia, although he knows that Daryl is his best friend but can't really know much about his past; nor does he care to. After Ace and Daryl got attacked by a member of the cheese-hating terrorists named Team Evil; they both decide to warn the governor, but find themselves working with a FBI agent named Kyri and a prostitute named Sarah who works for a brothel. Ace also tends to angst about his virginity.

 

Daryl: The foul-mouthed, pot-smoking best friend of Ace. Daryl may also seem to have a bit of amnesia; as he doesn't know Ace's past either, but is somehow his best friend; either way, Daryl; an autistic, bisexual Native American with medium-long hair, and brown eyes teams up with one of his best friends, a FBI agent and a prostitute who he has connections with as well. While Daryl will work with his team, he also manages to slip into some bizarre occurrences by himself as well; like getting abducted by ducks for example.

 

Kyri: A FBI agent who teams up with Ace and Daryl after being tasked by the FBI themselves to investigate Team Evil. Kyri is considered to dress up promiscuously for a FBI agent; and is even a great socialite, although she is completely uninterested in sex. Kyri is an African-American with blonde hair, and green eyes who quickly becomes friends with Ace and Daryl after a while; but Sarah, the prostitute doesn't really like her, probably because she a FBI agent.

 

Sarah: A prostitute who works at the brothel, Sarah got her job at the brothel as part of having to go undercover with her boyfriend Kard after an encounter with the KKK in Illinois that caused both of them to migrate to another state; although Kard continued college. Sarah is a pansexual Asian woman who actually enjoys her work at the brothel, although her boyfriend actually minds, in addition; Sarah is actually flirted with by Daryl, although Sarah tries to ignore it; and Sarah even has issues with Kyri, due to her being a FBI agent.

 

Alex: Daryl's other best friend; Alex has known Daryl for years, and like him; he's foul-mouthed but even more so, and is also someone who has a criminal record and adding to that; he isn't really a fan of white people. Alex is a Native American male who has a girlfriend he frequently hangs out with, and is actually had his longest stable relationship with her. Despite Alex's flaws, he and Daryl do hang out; and Alex even knows other things that are going on, although Ace thinks he's making things up and also loses respect for him; although Alex is right. Let's also add that a company's actually trying to hunt down Alex too.

 

Selene: Alex's girlfriend for probably the longest time, but that doesn't just describe her; Selene's also an unlicensed doctor who has patched up Alex since he does get into fights, and she'll even need to use her skills even more now; even if she doesn't have the license for it. Selene has stuck with Alex for several years, and considering what they are up against; they're really gonna have to stick together now.

 

Switch: A rather, silent type. He is Alex's bodyguard but you don't really hear him talk, like; what's his backstory, what does he like, what does he even think of his situation? Is Switch an alien from the Illuminati planet Mars? As long as he doesn't talk much, no one may really know.

 

Vice: One of two primary antagonists. Vice is the leader of the clones, and the blue one too. He is an omnicidal maniac who seeks to destroy the entire civilization so that he can prove that his kind is the master race. It is unknown what he really is, which is why you play the game to find out.

 

Raze: A Neo-Nazi who hates cheese, and one of two primary antagonists as well. You know how much he hates cheese? More than I hate dogs. That's why he's so angry he's willing to destroy an entire state. Because he, like most villains like to sit and wait for the hero to reach their lair; he's actually hired loads of men for the job, including a trusty top enforcer named Sven; who thinks everyone is "Ace".

 

Sven: Raze's bodyguard, and also a Neo-Nazi too. Sven is tasked with killing Ace, but the problem is; he thinks that Alex is Ace, and is trying to kill Alex instead. He addresses Raze as "fuhrer" and intends to succeed in his mission, and not much is known about Sven; although based on his skills, he could possibly have entered in martial arts classes, military training and even ninja training too; if that's still a thing. Either way, Sven is probably more stable than Raze; even though Sven is loyal to the wrong people.

Features

-Various characters, with various perspectives. So you play as diff characters throughout the game in a manner akin to Hotline Miami 2.

-A modern setting which makes sense (to me) for what I'm going for, although it is quite a crazy version too.

-So far, a music soundtrack which sounds like either Hotline Miami or Tron but that could change.

-Over twenty characters to play as.

-Satire that is a lot like South Park and Postal 2, although it'll be its own thing too.

-A game engine that really should have 8K resolution as a setting, but we can't always get what we want; now can we? XD

-Over two-hundred maps to explore.

I can't wait to improve on the game graphics; I know it doesn't look like much but I still am excited to work on this project and hope to put this game to its full potential, even if I can get access to different tools.

 

Possible System Requirements, because the first PC I worked with had issues running the game:

Operating System: Windows only, XP and above supported. 32-bit and 64-bit versions supported, RPG Maker VX Ace does not supply 64-bit executables.

VRAM: A graphics card that is 100 or above on PassMark

RAM: 2GB or more is recommended

Processor: 2.0GHz Dual-Core Processor

Disk Space: 3GB Free
