Falcao Pearl ABS and Victors Pixel movement compatibility.

Recommended Posts

I have a game long in the making that has become pretty dedicated to the Pearl ABS system. Meaning I'm reluctant to ditch it for another ABS, as it is in my opinion, limited mostly by your imagination, and it's ease of use is an obvious draw. I really want to utilize Victors Pixel movement, for two reasons: First, the custom hit-boxes. Something I still can't believe isn't a basic setting of the events in VX Ace. I've found long dead threads with links to scripts specifically for hit-boxes, but they always give me the old 404. Second, Victors Pixel movement is required for his moving platform script, which is brilliant, and I'm gonna die if I can't make use of it in my game. Basically that's where I'm at. Reduced to making childish suicide threats on the internet.

So the problem seems to stem from hit detection. The events tagged as enemies for the Pearl system seem to only register an attack if they are directly lined up with the center of the PC. So I'm play testing and I run up to a baddie and we both start laying into each others shoulders to no avail. Move to the left four whole pixels though, and it's game on. So I'm not sure if the answer lies in trying to adjust the ABS, so that events register attacks on all points of their hit-boxes... Or if it would be easier to find/commission a whole different hit-box script and moving platform script.

I'm open to any suggestions here. So to recap:

-I'm keeping the pearl ABS.

-I need to define larger hit-boxes, smaller too would be great but the big ones are the important ones.

-I want moving platforms that carry the player with them.

Thanks for your time.

Try a different pixel-movement script andthe advanced collision script (you can find it in the completed ace scripts).

The Pixel movement isn't even really what I was after, and I tried using the advanced collision script, but it seems to be a bit beyond my skill level. Thanks for the suggestion though, it's nice to get a response.
