Cheynise 0 Posted July 16, 2015 (edited) This is basically logic planning because I for one, am not too sure HOW to plan this out. I'd really appreciate any help in how this can go around. So I have this game idea for a while now that revolves around three playable characters for a horror/fantasy genre. Now each character has advantages and disadvantages but also have different perspectives in how they see the world: basically one sees colors differently while the other two see normally but one of them is deaf (I've YET to figure out how this can be implemented like visual sound waves or what). Like monkey sees no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil. I've read that switching characters can be done with changing the lead actor but I'm wondering if perspectives can be switched too. Basically like switching to the char who sees color differently while change the world's background according to that (basically parallax mapping for that). Oh and depending which character is chosen, they can use their abilities up front. Is that possible and...how? I'm not too sure I know the answer to that myself. Oh, and this will not have turn-based battles. The switching of characters and their advantages will happen in like real time(?) of the game. I don't even know if I explain this while... :/ If I'm not clear, please let me know, Edit: Btw I want to really limit scripting if possible, even though I can expect this idea to be too challenging for one person-cough. And if this will be impossible or hard, then I won't try this idea. If it can, then I'll talk more about this idea I'm trying. Cheynise 0 Posted July 18, 2015 I'm going to talk about my game idea since I'm not getting any replies (though I'm already guessing what I'm asking is impossible :'[ ). If you guys like this idea and you can tell me if what I asked above can be done, please let me know. Feedback is welcome btw. Title: The Woods in the House Genre: Horror Fantasy Summary: There is a house rumoured to have a forest inside. Three children, upon hearing that, go to it to find out for themselves on a rainy day. One by one, they enter inside and after a small discovery, the house inside is suddenly transformed of another world, amazingly beautiful to them. But the forest also has its darkness and it likes stray children. The three kids have to find each other and get out. Fast. (Think of this kinda like Coraline, Rule of Rose and the Witch's House) Features: - Multiple endings, mostly bittersweet, mostly bad. - Each of the children have their disadvantages and advantages, which can affect the gameplay. For example, one cannot speak so she cannot solve word puzzles, but she's taller than the others and can reach up to high places. Another is colorblind but his disability becomes an advantage in a world he sees in limited colors - seeing secrets in paintings. The last one has a hearing air which has given her a step up in hearing her way around, even in darkness. - Fourth playable protagonist! Woofwoof!
Nhale 6 Posted July 18, 2015 I liked tour idea. Its very original . About what you asked, i think i saw something in yanfly party script that checked the first actor in the party, but im not sure. One alternative i was thinking was using your plot to cover this, like limiting the player to control only one of the characters at time. It would fit in the story if there were some sorte of multi paralel reality, that limitates the characters for not being able to interact directly with each other, but their actions (like puzzle solving) could passou this and affect all their "universes". To put an example: the color blind guy cant pass a certain roon, but if the player switches to the tall girl and she can get a key that was hidden in the roof and opens that door, and doing so also the same door the first guy was stuck opens, allowing him to continue.

Thank you very much. Hm, I'll try out the alternative cuz like I said, I want to limit scripts as best as possible (or try it if deemed necessary). Still, you prove a good point. I'm gonna do a demo to try that out. I just wasn't too sure of the logic how the gameplay would go when switching characters. So thank you. I'll try to regularly put updates on my progress and eventually the real deal. Got a lot to do since this is very raw at the moment, even the story itself is brief at the moment. Thank you again. + Sughayyer 163 Posted July 18, 2015 "Can be done" is not a question, the answer is always yes. If it doesn't exist it can be made. Mostly anyway. See, you added more info and people replied. The idea is good though I'm not a big horror fan. Lastly, to make anything different from what the basic engine gives you, you must either use scripts or be extremely proficient with events. Cheynise 0 Posted July 20, 2015 I'm glad i could help! Please, post updates because i got really interested on tour project. Thank you! It'll be a bit slow cuz of me working on the demo and testing the gameplay out, as well as I'm focusing my attention more on another RPGmaker idea (at least to work my skills at the engine first before I go into this bigger project on my own). I'll do my best in keeping updates.
