Chu went inside, and immediately headed towards the pond. He tested the water with his foot, took off his belt, and then slid all the way into the water. "Your pond is a life saver." He said. "I'll get to fishing in a few minutes." He added. "Just give me some time to unwind. I won't be long." He said. "Before you go, could you tell me about that chain guild thing you're searching for?"

"Well, I really don't have much info about the guild but they said that the help people in need by giving them jobs and such.." Alistair said. "By the way, tell me about your race, I'm quite interested about it." she added with a smile.

Chu smiled lazily, hanging in the water like a salamander, with only his head poking above the murky water. "River Sprites? Where to start?" He said. After a few seconds he made his decision. "We're not the largest race out there. There's not a whole lot of us, but where there are River Sprites, there's always more." He said. "We live near rivers, hence the name. Our kind lays their eggs in the water, and we spend our early childhood as aquatic creatures. Eventually, we grow legs and arms, and our gills become lungs." Chu said. "Some say our kind are like giant frogs. I find that rather insulting myself. But there's an undoubted similarity my kind has with them." Chu blinked, and splashed water on his head. "Our culture is rather...primitive...compared to this town. We live in small communities, with two or three elders to lead them." He continued. "As for the rest of the community, we make our livings off the land. When it comes mating season, males fight over females. I've never really wanted to get involved in that, because I'll admit that last part is quite a bit like frogs. But...that's just instincts. moving on, Every River Sprite group has one who communes with the good spirits of the water. A priest, in your words. They practice water magic and alchemy. I'm guessing that you know which one of those people I was." Chu sneezed. "We mostly eat fish and freshwater crabs. We rarely ever eat plants, but, they do make for a good way to soothe an aching stomach." Chu chuckled. "I was going to become the next elder, but I left before I had the opportunity."

"Is that so? That quite an interesting race you have." Alistair said with an amused look. "hmmm... I smell something.." Alistair said as she smell something or someone inside the hideout, alerting her senses around her.

"I wonder if that's me. Is it fishy?" Chu asked. "If it isn't, then I don't smell it."

"Not sure... But it smell like.. Blood." Alistair said as her eyes turned red.

Chu said something obscene in a different language and slid his head into the murky water, practically invisible. The Dry had said she had a bit of werewolf in her, and that's all Chu needed to know. He, being a River Sprite, had gills behind his head, and with these he breathed, hoping she wouldn't get violent. If she did, then he may have to take desperate measures. he mumbled an incantation in the language of the River Sprites, and felt the water bend to his will.

Alistair went to find the source, as she found the source of the smell she returned her senses back. "Oh, it's just a dead animal..." She said. "Wait... How did this thing get here?" she added, "anyway, it's just a false alarm." she sighed.

Chu poked his head out of the water. "I think I'll go fishing now." He said, getting out of the water and putting his clothes back on. He put on his hat, and left the hideout.

As Chu left the hide out, he noticed the dead creature, and then he noticed a very alive creature leaning over it staring back at him. The creature straightened out, revealing a fat frame that was much taller then Chu. The clammy blue-green thing before him was covered in darker spots and sported big, expressive hazel eyes, that protruded above his skull like a frog. Chu had not seen anything quite like it, but you might think it could be a Yokai: An egg-laying race that's genes are so recessive and complex that children can come out with hair, fur, scales, feathers or even whole new appendages. If this was a Yokai, it came out looking quite like a giant tree-frog. The animal below was freshly killed, and now recently half-eaten. Yokai like to eat their food raw.

 

Then the creature spoke, speaking the common language of Tykron, albeit very poorly. "Uh... Hi." It waved it's hand. "Who uh... I mean, I am Ichi. Who are you?" it said very awkwardly, with a deep male voice and heavy accent.

"I...I'm Chu. The River Sprite." Chu said. "Pleased to meet you." He said.

Ichi stood silently for an uncomfortably long amount of time. Finally, he began to speak, but swallowed his words. He began again. "Um, could you two... Maybe help me? I lost my friend, Ni. She's a human and she doesn't remember where she's from, so I'm worried about her. She went for a walk earlier this morning and she never came back."

Chu smiled, nodded, and went back inside. Chu was happy to help those who were of aquatic looks. He entered the hideout, grabbing Alistair's arm with a slippery four fingered hand. "Hey. I need your help with something. Come with me. Also, have you ever heard of a human named Ni?"

Alistair looked at Chu, "Huh? Sure, I'll come." she answered. "Ni? hmmm, I don't know who that is, why did you ask?" she said in a curious tone.

Chu spoke as he led her back to Ichi. "I've met a Yokai. He looks like a River Sprite. The good spirits of the water tell our kind to help those who resemble our own. He's lost track of a friend of his, a human named Ni." Chu stopped in front of Ichi.

Ichi seemed nervous when Alistair was brought to him, perhaps because he left an animal carcass on her porch. "Um... Hi. Sorry about the.. uh, animal, over there... Do you guys want some of it?" he motioned to the half-eaten raw animal corpse. "Anyways, we need to find Ni." he brought himself back to the task at hand "She went missing this morning, and I've already searched the river, the woods north, a little bit of the woods south, I even searched where I found her; in the ruins of that town rich northerners live -er, used to live..."

Alistair looked at the Yokai, "Do you have something of her belongings?" She asked, "It might be helpful for me to find her is I smell her scent from her belonging." she added

Chu smiled, and said nothing. He left Alistair to do the talking, and instead finished the last of his alcoholic drink.

"Well, uh..." Ichi thought for a while "Hm... Oh! I have a wash rag from this morning, she washed her face with it. I'll take you to it, it's at my hut!" Before you have a chance to respond, Ichi begins walking away. "Follow me!"

Alistair followed the yokai, "Aren't you coming Chu?" Alistair said to Chu and continue following the yokai.

"Coming!" Chu ran over to them. He licked his nose and walked with them.

The trip following Ichi lasted until evening. As the sky turned gold, the forest of giant spruces turned more and more ethereal. Finally, you reach a river, and a few paces to your left you see a yokai hut; A poorly made igloo of wood with animal skins of all sorts draping over the sides, some very highly sought-after and all native to the Everwood. Ichi made his way to the hut, but then stopped at the entrance, frozen in fear. Suddenly, two men, obviously Forestrian, in black cloaks dashed out of the igloo, one with a black knife and the other with a mesh bag holding many dead animals. The one brandishing a knife shoved Ichi to the ground, and they dashed off. "DESSU!" Cried out Ichi in a foreign tongue "They stole my food!!" When you reached him blood had puddled on the ground; their was a deep gash just above his abdomen, it was clear he required medical attention and fast.

Risaka was deep in thought, observing the merchant's various baubles and trinkets when she heard a distant cry. She quickly slapped some coins onto the merchant's table and ran towards the direction the cry had originated.

 

 

She ran until she came upon an open path, near a small hut. A huddled creature crouched, apparently in pain. Dark shapes fleeted past the river and into the trees. Behind him were a girl and a water sprite, rushing to his side. She followed suit, and saw the creature - a yokai? - bleeding from a gash in his stomach. Shushing the creature and patting his head, she laid her other hand over the wound. She then begun chanting the spell of healing, the first spell she ever learned. The yokai made small nervous noises as a faint glow emanated from under her palm. When she lifted her hand, the wound was gone. The yokai was bewildered. Clearing her throat, she spoke. "Are you alright? What happened?"

"Are you alright!?" Alistair said at the yokai, "Chu! Stay here, I'll chase them down!" She commanded and ran very fast. She readied her dagger as she chase the forestians but to no avail, she lost track of them as she didn't smell their scent anymore. She returned to the Yokai's hut, "I lost them, they're very clever to cover their scent, anyway.. Is he alright?" she said and looked at the girl who helped the yokai, "Thanks for healing him, I appreciate it." she said to the girl.
