Hello Everyone, I hope to start my plannings of the game series: the ShadowVerse here.

Story

In the Time of Ancient Heroes, there stood many clans. The Church had fallen away and now stood as an inferior to the superior World Council. Because of this, the Church lost many grips on clans, who after their fall, waged war against each other to do battle. It was only until thirteen major clans, and their Daimyo's remained, where the true battle for supremacy begins. The Warring States Period, Sengoku Jidai, had begun. The stories now starts at 225 AD, the true beginning of the Warring States had begun.

What else to Expect?

After beating certain scenarios and battles, if you go back to the main hub, you can go through different scenarios if a certain faction lost that part of the war. These are called Hypothetical Scenarios, and they're not recommended to play during the main story. In addition, you will have over thirty characters to choose from in each story, each having their own weapons, and development along the way.

Major Daimyo

Lester De'Rosso

Age: 55

DoB: 170 AD

A man who had lived in lowborn status, and served Harutamu Sasaki, before slowly using his intellect to become a major daimyo of Itsukushima. However, he dislikes war, and teaches that war is never the right path to go upon solving things. As major ruler of Itsukushima, he was birthed two sons, the first son who was named Zelzar Alucard, and given to the Alucard family, before Lester merged his own house with the Alucard's. Together, Lester and Zelzar actively try to end the land of war. His weapon is the Ruyi Jingu Bang.

Ishkander Sun

Age: 32

DoB: 198 AD

Daimyo of Cryptinal, he is known as the Fool of Cryptinal, or the God of Conquest, in the World Council. Constantly making rash decisions, he rushes to save Ryouta Musete, but fails to after Ryouta is injured in the battle. He inherits Ryouta's dying wish, which is to rule the land, and end the chaos. In 230 AD, he pulls a miracle by defeating Mari Imagawa and Greyson Rhasphody, a force of 10,000 Troops, after surrounding the army during their celebration party. From then on, he is known as Ishkander the Demon God of the Sixteenth Hell. He uses a Glowing Sword in battle.

Laker Shibata

Age: 30

DoB: 200 AD

Leader of the World Council and the Shogun of the land, he is the one who controls most of the lands problems. The name Laker is passed down to each leader of the Shibata family, so he is the fifth one from the Shibata tree. He pledges his alliance to Ishkander, only to break it due to Ishkander's invasion of the capital. He is spared of his life, and dedicates his life to the Sun from then. His weapon is the Giant Axe.

Greyson Rhasphody

Age: 22

DoB: 208

A descendant of Zero Scope, he was a wanderer in the streets, until he was picked up by Hydra Phantom, the pope of the church, and was made Daimyo of Yatasuruga Province, and was given multiple officers in his name. He is rather lazy, but his fighting strength is immesnse and he is not afraid to show his power. After the Battle of Cryptinal, he sides with Ishkander, and from there on, becomes partners in Ishkander's conquest in the land. After being defeated at the Battle of Mikatagahara against Exdulgan, he is the one who led the attack at Nagashino. His weapon is the Tombo-giri.

Minor Daimyo

Hades Pluto

Age: 25

DoB: 200 AD

A Mercenary Daimyo who lives in Aki, Eternia and lends his sword to Lester De'Rosso. Known throughout the country as the King of Heroes, he strives to further his efforts to ending the war, and bringing about the end of the Warring States Period. Later on in history, he serves the Rhasphody Emperors and is apart of the World Council, and is known as the "God of Nuclear Fusion". His weapon is a broadsword and a double barrel shotgun.

Ny-Ineor

Age: 32

DoB: 198 AD

Leader of the Hasokawa clan, though he may not seem like it. Also having blood ties to Akechi Musete, and Oxsum Keinichi. Retainer of the Sun, he desires Ishkander's rule for the land. However, unlike Ishkander, once the land is ruled under one ruler, he wishes for a world of happiness, rather Ishkander's dream of turning it into a living hell. Ny-Ineor uses a simple katana as a weapon.

Zelzar Alucard

Age: 37

DoB: 188 AD

The first son of Lester De'Rosso, and an active learner, Zelzar is a man of strategy and tactics, and aids his father in his campaigns. He also controls the Alucard, his foster clan, since he was taken under the previous clan's leader many years ago. He is constantly with a book, and always tries to learn new things. His weapon is the Demon Sword.

Celice Kobayakawa

Age: 23

DoB: 214 AD

An archer who's a strategist, she works for the Asagi, the Sun, the Hashiba and her own clan the Kobayakawa, before it was swallowed up whole by Lester De'Rosso. She also dislikes Ishkander Sun for his actions, in awe of Rexas for his ambition and devotion to Ishkander and conquest of Eternia. Because of that, she joined Rexas' clan officially and left the Sun. She's also partners with Cyrus Zanbolti as they're known as "Kobayakawa Zanbolti", childhood friends with Laker Shibata and Akechi Musete. However, 249 AD, she passes away to a disease. Her weapon is a Strategist Bow.

the enemies you'll be fighting will mostly be in bases and stuff, that are in RTP
the over world enemies will be on the world map of that stage

First Impression: Needs a lot of work for a demo.

The story and premise of the game seem intriguing but not entirely fleshed out, I feel like you're not sure of the direction this is going although the characters seem pretty well thought out and planned so good job there :)

The gameplay itself at this stage is leaving a lot to be desired
Maps:

I noticed that all your maps use RTP only and this is fine, but they lack a lot of detail, shadows, and elements that really make the player feel like this is a real place within the game world. Most of the building can not be entered but feature open doorways, and there is also a building you can walk on top of (Bottom right corner of the 2nd map, you can walk over the doorway onto the roof).

Advice: Add more detail and try to a get feel for the design before you begin to edit. Reference images from the web and use those as guides for the type of environment you are trying to create

 

Combat:

Again, using RTP for now though I know you said you want to implement an ARPG Hack-n-Slash system which would definitely breathe more life into the game.
As of right now the player can literally spam their way through fights with no effort. Healing potions start off at 500hp when the player starts with 700hp (Trying doing this as a % in the database rather than a fixed value to make potions and such feel more balanced)
Advice:Flesh out your battle system and have it working by the time your ready to release a demo as the battle system is a very crucial part of the game play, this area is heavily taken into consideration. 

Story/Dialogue:

Again, this goes back to my original point. Get things a bit more fleshed out and details refined a bit to build a solid demo that will get people excited about your game.

Overall:

You seem like you have an idea of where you want to go with this project and now you just need your demo to accurately project that idea. While a demo is essentially just a rough draft of your work you still want to make sure that it captures the idea of what you wish to see your game become. That all being said, keep up the good work and ill definitely check it out again when the combat system is implemented, I love hack-n-slash.

Yeah. I know. I'm trying to make it harder so the player will be tested, but..

Bold: What do you mean, and what map do you mean? And I think I can do that, but I'm not that great at mapping.

Edit: I can try to make my own custom map for this, but I'm not too sure about that either, again, not a great mapper.

I want to find a script/find some way to implement, but I'm still searching. Like the way Eternal Senia is.

I did that because you can get KO'd as soon as you step onto the map. I dunno if it'll be a feature later on. But we'll see.

Edt: Battle system.. Again more like an ARPG, or like, sidescroll, because I want to have the player make their own weapons by item drops or even, have a side-view for the maps.

I can try, like, make dialogues for certain situations for different characters you have. But again, I might need scripts and stuff for that. Its supposed to explain the battles, characters come second, but play a very big role ingame.

Edit: Added better health bars and enemy health bars, but something I wanted to do was make special skills for every character, excluding Judas.

Good luck with your computer!  At least there is a lot of stuff like dialog, special skills, etc that you don't need a computer to work on at first, just a notebook and pen and time to think.

Aye, I have that covered. I write my stuff about my little universe anyway, so until its fixed, I guess the updates will be videos for bosses and stuff.

So the next update will have the following

 

An 80% working ARPG System. Most attacks won't work, but I'll point those out.

Most of the character's Special Attacks(read: Ny-Ineor, Ishkander, Greyson and Leon)

Greyson's Story will have one map complete, while Ishkander will have three, including the demo one.

So the reason I haven't been updating it so often is because:

This project needs some major overhaul. So I'm bringing it back into the shop to fix everything up. I'll probably change everything ground up, not characters, or plot, but game mechanics, skills, and things like that. It'll take me a few months, but I'll get it done, and what not. That's really all I have to say, but I'll update this thread everytime I change something.

Okay so, I had a idea of where to take this from now to whenever it comes up again.

Basically, instead of individual stories, we're gonna go down all the lines of time for all the warlords ingame(that's 15 or so important, including vassals it's 56) of the game, ending with the finale of the warring states period.

 

What it's gonna have is

 

All the stories:

Sun

Rhasphody

Cabal

White

Melancholy(will probably be the longest)

Alucard

Ume(The Last Story)

Minsheng

Pike

Hyperion

Kris

Scope(the second to last story)

 

Although it'll take a lot more time, it seems to be more effective this way, with how I'm formatting my other game with ARPG mechanics.

I'll probably release a video regarding this change in Thanksgiving Break, most likely.

I'm sorry for the constant delays for people who have been following my project, it's been a while since I've decided to take a path like this.

May this be the last time I switch gears.

(Though the current game I'm working on will be released; It'll have three of Ishkander's stories and the Final Boss, if you want to fight it)

So a few small new things.

 

One, the game now has Special Scenes, which are scenes that happen between, after or before a battle during history. They also lead to most hypotheticals. Next, I'm gonna try to make the newest patch available by Christmas, as a present. It will have three main story maps, four or so special events, and one hypothetical map and three hypothetical events.

 

That should be it, though the OP has been updated too. More characters, though not all of them in there are in the screenshots.

I'm sorry, but the new demo won't be coming out on Christmas. Something happened, and now I have to start from a certain part of the game again. I will say it'll be out around christmas, or after christmas. Sorry, once more.

So I will admit, it's taken a long time for me to finish this.

Mainly because my computer is having problems, and I haven't been able to work on it as fast as I can.

So the next new update will have three main stories done, but the hypothetical will be unfinished, so whatever the game tells you, don't do it.

I LOVE games with infighting between guilds, clans and factions. I'll check it out when I'm less flooded with our own works.
