Breathwind Combat Reworking

Recommended Posts

Hello, I need to request a script that will fit with my games fiction. That game you can find here: http://www.rpgmakerv...of-the-dragons/

The premise for the script is pretty simple, all I need is for when Mana runs out, the character can still cast spells, but they drain from their HP instead. In addition, I need it so that one actor can utilize ONE OTHER SPECIFIC actors mana/HP.

I'm going to explain the fiction reason now.

Breathwind: Return of the Dragons has special fictional elements that require this system. If you can't do it, I can take a note from Star Wars and just say it's a "gameplay system" and that in real life (I guess?) it would still apply.

Anyways, in Breathwind, mages always use Life Force to cast their spells. But Mana is an alternate energy storage they can use. They eat extra food and store any excess energy in this specific section of their being for later use. They drink Mana potions when they're low on mana, or just need a boost. They can drink Mana enhancers to expand the amount of Mana they can store. But in the end, they are still technically using Life Energy to cast the spells. So when their mana runs out, they can choose to drain their own energy instead if necessary to do so to cast their magic.

That's why I need the script to draw from life when they run out of mana.

Now for the actor targeting for drawing mana.

When Riders (think Jedi I guess, lol, with the star wars references...) are linked with their dragons, and their close enough, they can choose to exchange their energy between each other. So if both characters are participating in combat, I need them to be able to utilize each others energy when they need to.

Now, one final thing that I would absolutely LOVE (but you don't have to do it if you don't want to...) is if those two actors can also exchange energy from within the menus.

If anyone can do this I would totally praise you for all time, :D

Problem here is that it isn't exactly what I need. According to what I just read, it's a sustained state... which is not adherent to my games fiction.

I need it so that HP is drained when Mana runs out. Also, I just noticed that it could be abused for infinite healing so disabling of healing skills when MP has run out would also be nice, but like menu thing, isn't necessary.

It also doesn't allow the use of another actors energy like I needed, although, I would be perfectly content if it were just when MP drops to zero it drains from HP instead.

You should wait 72 hours before bumping, you can edit your previous post instead.

Ugh, BUMP.

Is this more complex then I thought or something?

Yes, the complexity of scripting is a major task in which RM Users spend all of their diligent time in front of a white and grey screen debugging and decoding the bits and information they need to make every little aspect of the script worth using and worth making, often scripters will give up because of annoyance and improper reminders of the scripts their working on to hurry it up when really their working at a heart-pounding pace at which would explode the earth hundreds of times over if you were to put them in the same city. you have absolutely no idea what its like for a scripter to be working and so this is a task that you could not comprehend, learning the ruby scripting program may be an easy thing to do but putting all of that knowledge together to form one script requires diligent hours of looking through the standard database and using the right functions not to screw everything up.

and if you really wanted to help you could try making some mock ups of what your looking for in paint and posting those to go along with your story ^ ^ ^

That's great and all, but how can I do this in screens exactly? I'd need a script for that.

I'm not rushing anyone, this has been up here for a while and I haven't even gotten any relevant replies... so I have no idea what your talking about with your over-exaggeration up there. This is a forum for script requests, there's no reason for you to come and act like I shouldn't be posting this... which is the general tone I felt from your post.

This isn't a request on how complex scripting is, it's a request for a rather simple script compared to a ton of scripts up here. I can't imagine it being longer then 50 or so lines considering it's just some work with HP and MP values.

I don't think you're really sure what you are asking for.

If it was just swapping MP for HP then it's easy, but you're basically asking to combine actors together, implement compatibility rates between actors, and determine battle party positions in order to activate your feature.

not screens, go int MS paint, or whatever program you have similar to it, and draw something similar to what your looking for. just drw it up and post it and sombody might be able to help with at least the layout part first. and another thing you could do is put the same request in another forum like http://www.RMRK.net

Your right, I don't know what I'm asking for, lol

Sorry, >.<

Still, it needs to be done... but there is no time limit of course. I don't really care when it gets done, I just need it, lol

So any scripters willing to take this on, take your time, :)

@crow: I feel that would be completely pointless as I explained in quite high detail with the text.

it never hurts for scripters to know what it needs to look like

I'm a terrible artist, all I would be able to construct is a diagram. But, that wouldn't matter as it's pretty obvious by the text.

It doesn't really NEED to look like anything, I just need those key features.
