As said in your introduction post a while back it will almost definitely not be free, for several reasons:

1. Its not an 'upgrade', it is an entirely seperate product.

2. Even the ~'upgrade' of the past, VX->VXA, was, to my recollection, only a discount available for a limited period. I could be wrong on this point, but if I am its because the discount didn't exist, and not because it was a free upgrade. Again, this discount would have been to account for the overt similarities between the engines, which will not be the case with MV.

3. The majority of its initial sales will likely come from existing users of the franchise so it would be insane of them to give this demographic a free copy.

As for refund options, your best bet is probably the newly implemented Steam refunds if you got that version. Even then there's quite a lot of criteria you'll have to meet, like having less than two hours playtime on the product. This refund system is also for games and I'm not sure it applies to software, though I don't see why they wouldn't let you if you tick all the other boxxes.

As for your monthly allowance concerns, dont worry, it wont be out this month :P

I don't think you can upgrade for free. However, VX Ace is a very good engine, and MV isnt released yet. On refunding, did you buy it from steam? If you did, I don't think they do refunds. Mess around with Ace, it'll get you some knowledge. Even though MVs coming out, I'm still working on my Ace game until the finish. Even when MV does come out, resources and custom stuff for it takes a while to come out. Ace, however, has loads of custom scripts on the web as well as more support, like these forums.

Edit: I stand corrected. Apparently, Steam does refunds now.

I would try email them politely asking for a refund. There is nothing else we could do anyway.

Don't be sad if you couldn't get a refund. Because, as RainingJelly stated, RMVX Ace is decent and matured game engine. You will be able to build a great games with it and enjoy using hundreds of free script out there, while RMMV users will not have much scripts in hand for at least several months.

AFAIK, nope.

Well, it's still quite some time before MV will be released, so you can practice on Ace first, then you'll have faster start with MV. =]

Though there RPG Maker games on Android, like Undefeated and Doom & Destiny.

I imagine it would take a good coder and/or program to export the game to mobile if it was made in Ace. The controls would be the problem though. It'll be a while before MV is released, so you'll have time to save your money. Really though, playing around with Ace will probably save you learning time when you get MV, at least to an extent.

You don't "upgrade" RMVXAce to RMMV. That's like asking to "upgrade" your Toyota J100 Land Cruiser to a J200 Land Cruiser. Sure, maybe they're made by the same manufacturer, but they're completely different vehicles. The best your auto dealer can do is offer a trade-in, but since you can't really trade-in Steam software, that's not gonna happen here.

Steam does have a refunds system now, so your best bet is to try getting a refund. RMVXAce doesn't have plugins and there is no publicly available tool that can be used to export to mobile. There WAS supposedly a tool in development by Enterbrain that was used for a few games, but it was never publicly released and I highly doubt they would release it now that RMMV is on the horizon, since it would eat into their sales for RMMV.

Besides, RMMV is not coming out until at least November/December. You've got plenty more months to save up allowance.

You can have a purchase refunded on Steam. I have no idea how long you have to do so after purchasing.

Also, it's not like having a newer Maker renders an old one utterly useless - all of the resources (music, sounds, graphics) that came with it are yours to use in the newer one, if you so wish.

These games are using special converters, most likely personal ones.

It is possible to have Ace games on Android, just very hard.

Apple? No way in hell.

Not sure about Doom and Destiny, but Undefeated was solely done by Degica and / or EB themselves, after reaching out to the developer to help them. They've kept tight grip on the method used to accomplish this, though, most likely for the very reason that it was to test the market and be able to charge for it as a feature in a new maker, similar to how Archeia's High-Resolution dll was around for awhile and then suddenly disappeared, only to find out that MV has resolution options.

You could always try and reach out to Degica to help convert the game for you, if you're stuck on using Ace rather than buying into a new version, but I'd imagine it doesn't come cheap and it'd have to be a project they're interested in investing time into. Otherwise, at this point, it's probably better to wait until MV comes out, see how much it's charged at, and decide if it's in your budget to buy the program that will supposedly allow you to do this.
