Rough sketch of a logo for my project...

Recommended Posts

I actually drew this up a long time ago while I had some free time at work and I haven't touched up on it since... Looking back at it, I'm not sure how to spruce it up. It's a bit rough around the edges and I want to gather some advice on how I can shape it to make it look better.

I feel that I could have made it look better if I had some graph paper so I can properly measure up the letters... Anyway, any artsy people out there than can lend me their knowledge?

I think graph paper is a good idea.  Also maybe start with a known font that you can look at as you adapt your letters to make sure they look like they go together?  I like the furry look of the letters and the "l" being a quill pen!

Interesting ideas, but try sticking to a single font (ie. be conistent with the fuzziness and don't change the shape of eveyr letter so dramatically). Overcomplicating something can distract and irritate, while a more simplistic look, or a pattern, can relax the player, and is generally more memorable.

Some little tips that can help: With a pencil and ruler (or your graphics program's alternatives to them), create two perfectly parallel lines (if using a program, use a rectangle drawing tool), then print the logo within. This can keep the letters consistently and correctly sized (or add a third layer for even more accuracy fun!)

Draw the feather/book separately! Don't be afraid to find free resources online if you don't feel confident in your art skill/style, there are tons of great resources out there! (Also check out some fonts online, there are a bunch of fonts for free and for cheap prices that are professionally made and not that common, which can be perfect to showcase a really professional look for your company/project.

Ideawise, it's interesting! :)

The fuzziness of the letters weren't intentional. I completely forgot to make the lines harder on them which is why they look a little furry. n_n;

Thanks for the tips, guys! I think I have a general idea on how to make it a little better.
