Just bought RPG Maker

My husband (Lux_Fortuna) and I just bought the RPG Maker and we're still learning the ins and outs of the game. I wasn't able to reply to his post, so I made a new one.

 

I'm the one that's going to be doing the art for pretty much all of the game, and I've never done sprites before. I was wondering if anyone could give me the basic instructions to making them. I've been practicing my art and have a ton of time on my hands to keep practicing (here is a link to what I'm able to do now: http://shinju-fortuna.deviantart.com/gallery/ ). I know it's not the best type of anime for games, but I've been practicing my lineart so I can learn how to shade like manga. I'll have colored pictures throughout too.

 

We're not quite sure what kind of game we want to do, but just thinking of the ideas is really fun. We've thought of Panty Paradise, Angel and Demons, Good vs. Bad (morally as humans), and a few more.

 

 

I've also been having issues editing my profile. I only have the option to edit notifications and random things.  I want to change my gender, put interests in, and make it more personal but it's not giving me the option to at all. If anyone could help, I'd be very grateful.

Not the best type of anime for games?! BLASPHEMY!! I'd say, any type works well! Also, you're quite skilled at drawing.

 

For the sprites' dimensions, check out the help files in the program and search for Resource Standards. That lists all the dimensions for sprites, tiles, and other bunch of helpful stuff. On how to draw the sprites themselves, just search up Pixel Art Tutorials in google and you'll find lots. Or you can go to the tutorials section, there are a few there.

 

One of them being OneCutStudio's Pixel Dojo (the dude hasn't been around for a while though).

As for the profit editing, it sounds like you need to validate your account.

Dumb question, but did you activate your account through your email address?

If yes, then it'll be a wait period - that normally shouldn't take long after activation

Yep! I need to be on here for different reasons. He's the one that's doing all of the technical stuff and storyline, I'm doing the visuals (art and most landscaping). And thank you about my art. I guess I'm too critical of my own stuff.

 

I'll definitely be posting some random stuff in here, we're still deciding on what general type we want to do (fantasy or normal).

Yep! Right now we have two maps, he's experimenting with the teleports, switches, etc, and I'm just seeing what I can do with the designing. But eventually we will make one map and start making the game.

 

Haha, I first watched it when I was 19, and I never thought to like it either. I just watched it because a TON of my friends from an online game were gushing about it so I decided to check it out, and it wasn't that bad. It has a lot of jokes and themes you wouldn't understand unless you're an adult.

That is the absolute truth and very important. What is more you'll don't even notice anything unless you're an adult. ~ and I think that's why it got me... I started watching that, because of "Video on Demand" - I had a subscription, so I could watch some great movies in TV "new ones and such" whenever I want - aaaand, one day, full-length movie (EQG) was issued on these programs, so... I watched that out of curiosity* and it (let's say) broke my mind...

* - I love animated shows, because I have a younger brother, so I got used to stuff like this when he was young. =P

I've always loved animated shows. I started watching anime when I was 13, possibly younger, and before that it was stuff like Scooby Doo, Dexter's Labratory, Power Puff Girls, Kim Possible, etc. So I've been watching them pretty much all of my life.

 

I get why people make fun of adults for watching it, especially guys. But that's only because they look down on 'cartoons' as an adult. Apparently there's a rule floating around that once you turn 18 you can only watch tv shows and movies that have people in it. Or spongebob.

Hello! Thank you. My art has slowly been getting better, but I'm still not where I want to be. I want to look professional one day.

 

I think this project is fun. We're both doing it in our spare time, and it's got both of us being pretty creative. Idk, plenty of girls would love Panty Paradise. If I wasn't so protective of my husband I wouldn't mind making it. But you know how it goes, the whole jealousy thing. XD

I miss the good animated shows like "Life with Louie", your examples and many more - these were very good. Later it got replaced with some 'not animated' shows and everything got kinda boring. The old good shows have something special, some of them were really weird. ("Courage the Cowardly Dog") =P

 

I don't care if somebody is/will be making fun of me, because of that - I said that out loud to all of my friends that I like what I like ~ and it wasn't that bad. If someone wants to make fun of it, then I'd ignore that person. I know I'm a totally weird person, so nothing can surprise me from them. (=

Haha that's ok. If someone makes fun of me it kind of annoys me, because I don't insult them for the shows they like. And I'm sure they're hiding one or two things that would cause them to be made fun of.

I just love anime and manga in general. I love that there is art involved, and that the stories aren't too long so you can watch a ton of different stories. It's just really cool.

I agree - I like to see something different each time - new story, new style, totally new characters etc.. (=

I'm spending nearly all day on forums - more on forums than my project. Joining Skype group would totally take all of my time. It's not that I don't want to talk with people (I'd love to), but I kinda don't have time to checking both forums and the chat. =P
