This is a rough sketch of my new protagonist. I'm going for a punk theme, any suggestions?

I like it so far. I like her simplistic, yet stylish punk look. I especially like that hair design :)

My only suggestion would be to increase the width of her arms a little. Right now your proportions all seem correct, but her arms look fairly skinny in comparison.

They also seem a little short, but since you haven't drawn the hand in yet, I can't really say as of yet.

I hope to see more progress on her though :D

I agree, my art skills are still lacking. I'm still working on arms and legs, maybe now that I have it digital and can use photoshop I can get it working.

Cute!  I like her bloomers, or whatever those pumpkin pants are called when non-infants wear them.

Looking good so far. She has a very old school punk look to here. My personal idea of punk would have her with a couple piercings and a little ink. Punk rock/metal chick  :), but again that's just my personal vision of punk. Just something you might wanna explore.

Maybe princesses are not allowed piercings and ink.  Daddy is probably planning to swap her for some island territories any day now and she has to look traditional when the occasion demands.

Lol. Maybe that's exactly why she has piercings and tats. Just to piss off daddy.  :P

Cute!  Her legs are awfully stubby tho.  I totally want those boots!  I love the outfit/style she is rocking.

Yeah I thought she had that appearance too, it's because the skirt is worn low and hangs below the knees, could not figure out a way to show that properly.

Hm, distance from my chin to bellybutton x2 = distance from my bellybutton to feet.  chin to bellybutton = bellybutton to just above knees = just above knees to feet.  On me at least.

Her left (our right) leg's turned too far to the side. It makes it look shorter in comparison. It should be posed more inward. Her pose doesn't look natural. Same for the arm on that side. It looks like it's being pinned behind her back. Part of that is because her shoulder is a little too high. If you lower it, she will look more relaxed.

Thought I'd drop in here and offer a few tidbits--take them or leave them, some of these are just personal preference! >_<

  • I think, imo, her head should be a little longer/more oval shaped, right now it seems almost kinda dented on the top right and she needs a little space for her noggin ^^
  • Her torso is really long--personally I try not to make the torso much longer than the head. Like I mentioned her head is a little short in my opinion and so her torso doesn't need to be that much shorter :)
  • Her neck could be slimmer, once you slim it down it's a very nice length too. c:
  • Her right (our left) shoulder is very low compared to her other shoulder, even if she's leaning to one side.~
  • Her right (our left) forearm and elbow could be shortened juuuuust a little bit ^^ due to foreshortening. It could also be raised once her shoulder is adjusted up, too.
  • Her skirt is looking really great in terms of folds, btw ^^
  • Her left (our right) calf could be curved a good bit more, just making her ankle slimmer would help. Also if she's leaning on her left leg (which she really should be, with the pose you've drawn her), her entire leg will concave very slightly inwards (I dunno if this makes any sense), so instead of tucking her ankle in to meet her boot, which is what you look like you've done, adjust her boot to meet her ankle.
  • Overall, if she IS leaning on her left leg, her entire torso is tilted a little too far as holding that position would be kind of stressful :)
  • I think you said her skirt is worn low and obscures the knees? I know it's definitely possible to wear that kind of garment, but it does look a little odd (I know you're not a girl, Shaddow, but just try to imagine that if you were trying to wear it that way, how it would look in a photograph) ^^"
  • Her left (our right) shoulder is a little rigid and placed too high--so basically her right is low, and her left is high. Actually, in that case, if you want her shoulders to remain tilted, her hips should tilt on the opposite-angled plane, so she would be leaning on her right hip. O_o
  • Even with her skirt like that, her legs are kind of short, and her thighs get almost no length at all (if you were to draw her legs in under the skirt). :x
  • I can tell you worked hard on her hand! :) Though I would curve the knuckles of her bent fingers a little more--that'll help make her hand look more relaxed, too.
  • (Her boots are KILLING IT <3 Yaaaahs.)

I hope none of this was too critical or over the top or anything D: You're really doing well, so don't be discouraged! Good luck :)

Thanks for all the critique! I am still learning art, and this will all help me get a lot better. The only person I had to ask opinion on here is my girlfriend and she's too nice to tell me what is wrong lol. I'm converting this to line art today, so I'll implement these changes and see how it goes. :)
