Artist getting into making RPGs

Recommended Posts

Ah! Hello.

I thought it was about time I joined this site. I'm an artist who's been working towards making an rpg on my own. I think the art and the writing is what I'm used to but designing a game and working with code is going to be a challenge. Just thought I'd introduce myself! I'm suree I'll be around trying to figure stuff out. I think the game I wanna make is inspired by Grandia, Paper mario, and pokemon in design So ill probably find a lot of code help here in the future!

Welcome to the group!

You don't have to worry much about actual coding unless you get into the scripting side of things. Just take it one step at a time and when you run into something you can't figure out look up a tutorial, or if you can't find one that answers your question then ask it here, just be prepared to wait a while for a response because it isn't guaranteed to be immediate.

Thanks yall! Working a bit today. Trying to do diagonal movement, sprite animations longer than 3 frames, and 2-tile high characters. Sounds like a lot of awesomely overwhelming problems xD I'm.... just googling stuff, copypasting, and hoping it all works out.

Wait, I've been on here since July and no one told me about the drinks in the back!!

RPG Maker is as flexible as the game developer is patient, I find.  So keep experimenting!
