It'll probably be a very long while before I can use MV xD I'm going to wait for MV to grow a bit after it's release :3

I know what I'm getting as a self-gift on payday! Will be looking forward to seeing what I can do on MV while I develop my current project.

Edit: I just tried a bit of the browser game, it works quite well and even supported my controller without me having to mess with anything.. I wasn't really all that excited for MV before but I'm starting to think of the possibilities.

$80... Too bad it's more than, probably, even $180 here... Why, Brazil.

Empty your wallets!

I wish I had something in my wallet...

And $80 is actually a really low cost! Since I was expecting it over $100. ^^

They're including some nice stuff with this too! Like I said in someone's status, not only is it cool they announced the pre-order, but seriously, releasing in 23 days?! Yes!!!

. . .I checked the STEAM version of MV. . .it's only 422k in IDR. . .which is probably 28$. . .

. . .but I'm not sure if it will give the same pre order bonuses. . .

Says it will give at least the Cover Art pack and the Essentials Set. Dunno about the plugins or the converter. Same price as the pre-order on the official site in USD, so in all likelihood they've just been conflated into the former two for the Steam release, but don't quote me on that.

You also get the Cover Art pack and Essentials Set.....All for 28$. That's odd, what's with the price difference?

You could be right...Hmm.....

I'm probably gonna wait for a while, or until one of those super cheap bundles appears.

There's pretty clear indication from the guys up top that the Steam storefront deal contains exactly the same stuff as the official site deal, down to the plugins and converter script.

If it were me, I'd take advantage of the price difference if you can. Steam is well-known to use geoblocking/geo-discriminating technology to force you to pay in certain currencies depending on your location and there's no way (officially) for anybody outside the region to use that currency. The upside is that they adjust their pricing schemes make certain things cheaper elsewhere at times.

The downside is that everyone -not- living in that region feels cheated when they find out about it. In other words, be thankful you're not living in Europe. It's cheaper in USD than in Euros.

Anyone know if there's an upgrade path from VX to MV?

Use the VX to Ace converter. Then use the Ace to MV converter.

I'm thinking he meant the actual software, like you pay less to buy an upgrade version of MV if you already own VX. I could be wrong though.

If that is what you meant djshire, no, there is no such upgrade that has been announced, at least not as of yet.

Correct! In fact, I came into this thread just to say that. I don't know how I missed this post before.

Being a dj/producer, I'm very used to companies offering coupons/discounts for those that have previously purchased older versions of their software. For example, Native Instruments just released Reaktor 6. I own Reaktor 5, so I can get the upgrade price of $99, vs $199 for those buying the software new.

Or because I bought many of Rob Papens plug-ins, when I wanted to upgrade to his eXplorer bundle, I emailed and asked what the upgrade path/discount was for and which plug-ins of his I owned, and I got a 30% discount coupon for the bundle.

I'm used to the same thing with image/photo editing software like Photoshop and Lightroom. However, a few points: one is that many (but not all) companies that offer upgrade discounts, offer upgrades annually, as opposed to every few years; and two points combined would be that despite it being three(?) years since Ace was released, and despite that MV seems to be a more significant upgrade from Ace than any previous version has been from its predecessor (i.e. Ace to VX, VX to XP, etc.) it is the same price, or perhaps even slightly cheaper, than Ace was when it was released.

The point of all of that? I can forgive them not offering an upgrade discount since this is a pretty good deal overall as it is, and it's a fantastic deal if you get the preorder.

I honestly feel like creating my game in this instead of Ace, mainly because it already supports side view battles and uses slightly bigger sprites - something I need anyway and my game is alerady at a stand still because I suck at comprehending the ruby scripted side battles.

*throws wallet at monitor* Take mah moneyz!

I get your point. But I'm super broke right now, so I'm not getting the pre-order.
