Hello, my name is Wendell. I'm the creator of "Helvetios, a Sci-Fi Adventure", which you can find here on the forums. Welcome to the Countryside.

Adam, a young man who used to live alone in the city his entire life, decided to quit his stressful job and live on the nature. He used all his money to buy an old farm in a village far from the noises of the city. You're the one who'll lead Adam on his way to find the peace he wants. You will uncover Adam's past and decide his future. Despite of his personal issues, Adam will have to deal with other characters, with their own problems, needs and interests. A complex net of relationships will be established. If Adam's arrival will change the village it all depends on you.

Adam: Adam is the guy you control. He left the city to live a more

peaceful life. He has nothing but his new home: a farm and a village with lots,

lots of possibilities.

The Bachelorettes: of course, you can marry. Choose a girl, win her heart and live happy forever.

iglxJB3.png

Valerie, a regular interior girl, born and raised at the Village.

Works with her parents at the local market. Loves the nature and

she doesn't bother when it's raining and she's outside. Usually calm, but she

have her moments.

96DeZ27.png

June, moved to the Village a year before Adam. She runs the

Animals farm along with her father and her brother. She's has a cowgirl style, strong and

energetic, kinda masculine sometimes. Her mother disappeared when she was very young.

She's always fighting with a local guy named Kyle.

Cm6WLnT.png

Wendy, the nerd. Likes videogames, comic books and stuff like that.

Very interested in technology. She doesn't like to live at the Village, but their

parents moved in because her mother was very sick. Her father thought it was

the best chance for her to heal. He works as a Miner.

e60OGHi.png

Angela, the sweetest of all the girls. Very shy, incapable

of hurting any living thing, but also, very smart and mysterious. Works at the clothing

store with her mother. Her father works at a neighboring town, and he doesn't comes to the

Village very often. She likes to go to the church.

All other characters will be introduced to Adam as you play the game. I mean, if you want to meet them.

This is the main part of this game. Below you'll find everything you can do on "Countryside". Please, proceed.

- You can plant, water, cut and harvest crops in a system entirely made with events;

- Each seed you can plant has its own growth rate, measured in game days and each one grows only on a specific season;

- If it's raining, you don't need to water your crops;

- You can check the next day weather, the local news and do some online shopping on Adam's computer;

- Cooking system;

- You can buy some clothes;

- Adam has parameters: "Intelligence, Charm, Bravery and Faith", which will increase or decrease, depending on your actions. The villagers have their own interests, so, this will affect your relationship with them;

- Advanced time system, with the current hour, day, day of the week, season and year;

- Raise Cows, Chickens and Sheep;

- Fish!

- Buy machines to make cheese, butter and chocolate;

- Work too much and you'll end up on the hospital! (Stamina System);

- A quest system to find treasures and rare items;

- Interact with the villagers to raise their interest on you: this way you can unlock more quests and, who knows, meet your soulmate;

- Each marriage candidate has her "love meter", which will increase or decrease, depending on your actions;

- All villagers have their own behavior: some will appear on certain places only under some specific circumstances, like, the time, the day of the week, the season and other requirements. Some locatons will only be accessible under some conditions too;

- Custom menus;

- No songs from RM Ace;

- More to come.

What a feature! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

This really looks and sounds fantastic! It doesn't even look like an RM game (you can add this to features ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) ~ I love the colorfulness and style. (=

Everything sounds promising - I'm really interested to see how the game will look like! =3

Played that and loved! This is a really fantastic work! It reminds me of good times back then... =3

Guys, I was thinking about a very detailed "Game Manual". As this game will have a lot of characters, quests, places, items, secrets and things to do, I believe I must do some kind of guide, just to guarantee that everyone will enjoy the game at its maximum. I mean, you don't need to look at the guide, you can try to find all things by yourself but, I kinda gonna get frustrated if I hide a very nice thing on the game and no one finds it  :(  As I said, you can play the entire game without it, but, if you're stuck or is desperate to find something, you can take a look at the guide. It will list where to find everything, how to trigger all special events and other stuff. What do you think? I repeat: to look at the guide is 100% optional.

But 'secrets' are nice too.

As long as they're not one-time only, where if you'll skip something (forget or simply don't know about this) and cannot be done later, which means 'lost chance for a bonus forever', then it'll be okay.

Discovering things is the best thing in games - if you know everything, then it'll be boring. For example I'm making my game - but it'll be kinda boring, since I know EVERYTHING and nothing can surprise me.

For example - I got some nice skill in game - WOAH! THAT'S AWESOME! - If I know when I'll get this and what exactly I'll get, then it'd be like 'Finally got that one'.

Make players interested - they will write a guide by themselves if they'll discover something.

I love discovering by myself - being surprised - say 'Woah, that's nice! I didn't knew about that!'

Game Manual can be for obvious things - moving, farming system etc. etc. but leave some suprises - don't explain everything. Make players discover things and share with anybody else while spreading the word. (=

(Many people will not read that manual anyway) =P

I hate guide-based games. (where there are hidden single-time-bonuses, so you have to follow guide to get that bonus)

That's my opinion. (=

You're absolutely right, and I agree with you. I hate guides. I just thought about this because, I don't know, I don't want the players to miss anything.

I remember when I played HM: BTN for the first time, I was absolutely lost. Some things I've just discovered after playing the game for the third time, others I just found on the internet. How the hell I was supposed to know that, if you throw 3 cucumbers at the lake, kappa would appear?! I mean, it was quite impossible to find out that by yourself, there's absolutely no information about that on the game.

And yes, I want to add some one-chance-to-get things. It is a bit frustrating but, well, I believe that, if I'm making a farming simulator, a life simulator, there's chances on life that only will appear one time. It would be challenging. I don't know, maybe I'm too perfectionist. I hope this don't ruin my game, but I want to make the best game I can. I want to do something memorable.

Yeah I remember these little secrets in HM:BTN =P

Hmm.. You could put only important info to the guide. For example don't put "Throw 3 cucumbers at the lake and you'll get power apple (or whatever)" in game - but somewhere else later ~ something like wikia/in post etc..

In guide you can put obvious and very important things.

When I first played HM:BTN I had no idea you could actually upgrade tools (I had no idea you had to 'hold' the ore and directly give that to the blacksmith - I was young and didn't get most of things xD)

And I was like - 'In the daemo (that was played when idle in menu) he has sulver toolz! How to get these??' D= =3

That was sooooo long time ago - I didn't had PC/internet and imagine how I felt when it was finally discovered. =3 Watering multiple crops at once. WOAH! =D

In HM:BTN I can't think of one-life-chance thingies basides the Cedar Tree (If I recall correctly) ...and marriage... and recipe that required 'stone' - if you threw away every single stone from farm - goodbye full recipe list...

Most of the thingies could be just done in the next year.

Hmm... The important things you can put somewhere in game - that'd be good to know what you can lose/get if that's one-time only.

But the rest of things that could be redone each year you can keep as secret and perhaps reveal that later in post or it will be done by others in FAQ's/ walkthroughs etc. (Players do random stupid things, so you can't hide secrets from them. =3

Hmm... To be honest I'm not sure how to go about that.

Yeah, you're right. I'll let the players find out the secrets, and if I see that something is too hard to discover, I'll post.

Now, changing the subject, in the plot I'm planning to use some, let's say, adult things. Nothing +18, I'm talking about serious themes. Death, betrayal, theft, personal and psychological stuff... These are things that happen, even in a rural Village. Humans are like that. The game will be colorful, but there will be peoples, a society is formed. I don't know if this will fit, but I really don't want to make a game where everybody is a nature lover and peaceful.

But I love peace. =3 and... that's why I kinda dislike humanity.

To be honest I also don't have idea if that would fit, so no opinion from me. =P

A game manual sounds good to me. It's optional, so it's not like your being forced to use it, so there is no harm in creating one.

I had a similar concept of this, but I was going to write it as I went along in my game. In a HM game, I like using manuals later since you can see what each character likes/dislikes without having to try a trial and error process, that you then later forget because you do it with so many characters.

I also like reading a little about the batchelors/ettes since I like to pick the one that appeals to me most (without reading to much into their backstory - I like surprises).

I always got impatient with HM marriages, so I usually didn't bother at all with them. Since your seems to have a more dynamic approach to a wife, I feel I want to give this a try~

I also dont like missing things, so its nice to have a reference.

Or make unlockable info - likes and dislikes for each character would be unlockable upon giving certain item to somebody.

A full completed list from the very beginning will make it less surprising - that way you would know what you should do. No experimenting.

What is more if it's a 'life simulator' I doubt you would find a book, where everybody's likes are listed. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I had an idea walking home on this, but not sure if it's a good or bad idea.

Rent.

One thing with HM games is, you make money, you buy more materials, you make more money, you buy more materials, you make more money. You ran out of stuff to buy.

If rent was implemented every month (say on the 1st), then it would maybe giv ethe player an incentive to actually make money.

Maybe each time you get a house expansion, rent goes up slightly. Maybe a barn costs extra rent too, so you have to ensure your cows/sheep/ect can provide enough income to support that barn and make profit too.

I'm not sure how complex it would be to add in, but was just a suggestion.

@Takeo212: that's a real nice idea! Maybe, at some point, the player can actually buy the house and do not pay rent anymore... I don't know if this will be kinda boring or nonsense, to quit the job at the city to pay rent in a farm... I will think about this.

But what would happen if he doesn't pay? He can't be kicked out from the Village, 'cause it will be game over  :lol:

Let's assume that the pay day is every 1st month, but you can pay it until the day 5, with a small tax. What would happen after the day 5 if the payment wasn't done?

If they payment wasnt made, maybe;

First time; a warning to have it paid on time next time.

Second time can be repossession, maybe a cow or such?

Maybe even a restraint on various parts of the farm, like your barn. You havent paid rent so they repossessed your barn until you pay so you have to gain it back?

The third warning could maybe be a game over. Say, you havent paid for the last time so they repossess your farm and house to cover your third missed payment.

Not sure if thats too extreme though, but it's a basis xD

Maybe a post office to allow you to go and make a payment, so you have to pay it before a certain time each day (post office is open 6am-2pm, closed sundays) that sort of thing.
