What games do you think needs to be made?

Recommended Posts

What are your favorite game genre?

Do you have any ideas for a game you really want to play?

Is there a game that has a style you would like to see more of?

What game genres are you sick of?

I think 2D mario style platformers has been done enough.

I'm also sick of lol random simulator games, and generally most of the shite that enters steam greenlight.

Zombie survival games, I am sick of games that has zombies as the main enemy, get creative instead.

I really want to play an action game with an incredible story, but not too generous with the dialogue and cut scenes.

It should have medieval weaponry, and all equipment and weapons should have stat boosts, every formula fx. skill formulas in the game should be visible to the player, so you could play around with the math. You should level up the things you use like in skyrim. When you level up you can choose what stats you want to boost.

I would like to see more games in the style of Dark Souls, but without references or directly ripping off.

What do you think?

Personally? I'd make due with GOOD rpg's again. Preferably in the old JRPG style.

There was a time when rpg's were a fantastic genre that not many people had ever played.

Lunar 1 and 2, Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Mana, Grandia, Alundra, Valkyrie Profile, Legend of Legaia...

Most people haven't even touched any of these games due to them "Not having high end graphics" and it is a shame, because they were all so much more than games. They are PIECES OF ART!

Now all we have is FF(Insert Number,) FF (Insert Number) - 2, Dragon Warrior (Insert Another Number.)

Its as if no one even wants to try to revive these amazing franchises nor bother touching on the old ones that are vastly superior to any of the crap that the industry spits out these days.

The world needs to face the fact that the industry and triple A games are dying out. We are moving towards another video game crash and when that happens, WE indie dev's will be there to give people what they want.

I loved Skyrim, but my problem with it was I could never complete it.

Not due to difficulty, or anything, just simply I was to distracted to.

My ideal type of game is a Fantasy RPG with a silly, yet serious plot to it.

Crafting and skilling is a love of mine also.

Open world/free roam is a nice addition, but not mandatory.

These are aspects I work towards on my own game. Taking elements that I want from a variety of games, and trying to implement them into my personal enjoyment.

I'm really not to fond of games nowadays. There just... urgh.

I want skills with levels that give bonus or new stuff as you level up.

I want a nice, fluid combat system that allows for unique gameplay but isn't a bother when grinding.

I want to be able to do side stuff like dungeons and find hidden treasure.

I don't care about graphics. I don't care for Episodic games.
If your game is attention grabbing, I'll play it. If it successfully implements all my loved features, I'll probably love and respect that game developer.

Great local co-op games.

That's what is VEEEEERY hard to find these times.

2D platformer? GREAT!

Hack'n'Slash? GREAT!

Turn based RPG? AWEEEEESOME!!!! (that's why I'm making one)

other genres? GREAT!

That's what I'd love to play, but many people don't like local-coop games due to rl reasons and such (no friends/family to play with) - but I want to play these games. =3

It can be even a bad game, as long as I'll have fun with my brother.

The kind which mixes RPG and Simulation. I love games that tells stories through its mechanics. Kinda like FTL and Mount and Blade.

One that mixes simulation and a FF Tactics style combat would be sweet.

If a game developer isn't making one of the first three I'm certain it is the fourth kind, lucky you! xD

I totally love everything exept sport games with a special soft spot for classic JRPGs. ;)

My favorite game genres are:

  • Action
  • Adventure
  • Platformer
  • Mysteries
  • SOME Puzzles
  • RPGs, of course
  • Bullet Hell (Especially Touhou)

I'm probably sick of First Person Shooters. They're everywhere, and some are just not creative or really just stupid for me. I don't like them. -_-

I don't think the questions of "what do you like" and "what do you want to see more of" are mutually inclusive.

I like shooters, open world games, post-apocalyptic games, and games with thick atmospheres - I don't really need to see more of them.

I guess of those, I'd like to see STALKER 2, but that will never happen...

Open World Metro 2033 would be fantastic, but grows ever more unlikely with every passing day...

Maybe and another hyper-realistic thinking shooter like Insurgency but maybe of a different genre?

Maybe a game that can do first person melee combat right?

I really do fell that the best Games of late are Fan Games and Mods.

Sad but True.

The C&C Community of Fans and Modders is making better games than EA's official releases.... Although EA are Evil Arts so I shouldn't be too surprised I guess.

Seriously though I can list a LOT of Mods of C&C that match up to or outperform EA Stuff.

C&C Fallout.

Mental Omega.

Renegade X.

Twisted Insurrection.

The Forgotten.

A Path Beyond.

C&C Stargate Universe.

There are Games Killed by Developers, Studios, Publishers for bizaare reasons too.

Silent Hill with Guillermo del Toro.

Zone of the Enders III.

Summoner III.

Shadow Hearts IV.

Legend of Dragoon II.

I like the question but it's hard to answer bc there are a lot of games I can't play bc I don't have money.

For example I would like to play more platformers but I do think there is enough of them ^_^

But except platformers I think we are a bit lacking in terms of 2d action games with both great flow and level design. Maybe I'm wrong but there is no game I can think of .

I also would like to see different stuff when it comes to co-op online games , i think there is a lot of untapped potential there in several areas like partial communication, puzzles and action-oriented boss fights ( maybe Monster Hunter works for the last one, I should try this game one day). But I guess those kind of stuff are hard and expenisve to make ,so I can understand.

I'm also always pleased to see a game I would have never thought of.

For more prcise stuff,I would like to see a game with the combat system from FTL (it is SO good) but with more of an RPG/exploration style and no perma-death.

There is no really genre I'm sick of . A few years back , I would have said FPS but now ,it bothers me less bc there is still a lot of FPS but they feel more different it's not like every publisher is making a COD clone (I'm not a fan of FPS but i can enjoy a good fast-paced FPS of old time) .

I never understood sports simulation games (notjust sport games,to me the distinction is important) , and I think I will never will but they have always existed and surely won't stop.

The thing I'm sick of across all genres are cutscenes and RPG mechanics in non-RPG AAA games. Those things really hinders the flow of the game . I really dislike them .

I also think that first-person cutscene are worse than normal cut-scene.

Give me block puzzles or give me death!

I don't really consider genre that much, just whether a game looks interesting or not. I guess it'd be nice to see more of the old point-and-click adventure games.

Oh, and less HD remakes. Those wouldn't be missed.

As a fan, I always love the fantasy, adventure theme.

As a objective observer, I think we should have more similation games. How about RPG elements combine with RTS, strategy, building, Sims?

The more realistic it is, the better.

Well, for a wish of games I wish I can play:

  • A new Phantasy Star. Not the crappy PS Online ones. I want a real sequel to Phantasy Star 4, after Chaz defeated the Profound Darkness. Or a prequel what happened to Phantasy Star 2 when Eusis fought with the Earthmen.
  • A new sequel to Breath of Fire 4. Everything about BOF was a letdown since BOF5.
  • A new arcade paced Japanese Shoot them Up.
  • Another classic Castlevania. A sidescroller one with 16 bit graphics like the SNES and Genesis style. The newest castlevania was a letdown.
  • A new classic style bomberman game.

Have you been keeping an eye on Steam? They're cropping up even in the West every now and then.

Oh man yes. I got on the Castlevania train really late with Portrait of Ruin, but I'd love to see this as well. Castlevania 1 still holds up today extremely well, which is quite impressive given how some NES games have aged. Sadly, I think Bloodstained is the best chance you have for that.

I love simulation games. *.* But I love adventure games too XD I'd love more tactical stuff without being too slow-paced during battles. I would also love, LOVE to see a proper Harry Potter kind of fangame-ish thing where you can customise your character and be Sorted into your proper House and go to class and Hogsmeade and such. (!!) That's probably my ultimate dream game...XD I think it would also be super cool to have something like the OASIS, which will almost certainly never come to fruition, but it made for a really neat story, anyhow. xD (And I wasn't even alive during all those pop culture references!)

I think throwbacks to simple low-res platformers have been all but exhausted. Same with the cliche epic-quest save-this open-world adventure game. I also think we've pretty much expanded as much as is relatively believable into the farming+date-sim genre...or just date sim VNs, there are probably way too many of those XD

I think Skyrim with a Star Wars skin would be kind of cool.

I suppose picking a planet for the game would be tough, but imagine walking around Tatooine and you encounter

Tuskan Raiders that want to get killed by you and you happen to have chosen to play as a Wookie Jedi or something.

Or Bounty Hunter armour and Double Ended Light Saber.

I dunno, I think it would be really awesome.
