My Demon Realm in progress

The "Demon Realm" is just going to be one map in my game, but it will be the most otherworldly so I'd like to get feedback on the graphics.  I'm trying to go for alien/creepy/beautiful.  I don't need comments on the actual mapping right now, I'm just seeing how the graphics look in various combinations.   You can't tell from these screenshots but some of the plant life (?) changes color or flickers with light.  Thanks for any input.

What exactly is the vibe you're going for? Looks kinda alien, looks half-way dead. I don't think I'd go so far to call it barren or empty though.

for me, the map looks lively with the green trees. (unless it's dangerous with it's greeny)

but it already look lonely and beautiful.

Thanks for the comments Chaosian and Baltar.  I'm going for alien/creepy/beautiful and also there is a natural barrenness to the ground so only magical stuff grows readily, if that makes sense.

I made a toned down version of the cotton candy fog so it would work on backgrounds other than the grayish ground.  I feel like, with some work, this would be a cool title image for the game.

 

 

How can you safely cross this damage-terrain?  Just walk carefully across the wiggling vines.  (They really wiggle.)  Maximum weight allowed:  45 pounds.

but, I kind of like it when the grass was silver. and I meant, bright as snow.

you know, some country thinks that snow is death.

but it's just suggestion, and maybe it's just personal taste

Thanks!!  I love your idea of whitish silverish grass!   But making it has been harder than I thought.  So far it looks like this:

It has been a while since I have seen someone try a completely different kind of tileset. Looks interesting but in my opinion your sprite looks a little out of place. Unless that is what you are going for. He/she come be in an "alien" world.
