"Shall we proceed?..."

 

In another world, the lands were divided between five kingdoms: Lortrec, Nesiro, Alcyen, Elyce and Draskia. All of the kingdoms were successful, rich and peaceful. However, the few years of peace came to an end when the king of Draskia disappeared, being considered dead and having his position taken by a demon whose name is unknown, being called "The Dark King" by the rest of the population.

 

The new monarch brought a new era to Draskia, declaring war against all of the other kingdoms with the intention of ruining all of them, but the royal forces of Lortrec would not allow it to happen to them so easily, being the last kingdom capable of surviving. Many years had passed and Lortrec was still in the middle of the wars. In this kindgom, in 1352, the 18th birthday of Ryo R. Yuiyo II, the Prince of Lortrec and heir to the throne, was approaching. Ryo is the eldest of three children, his younger sister Kattis and the youngest son Seyen, who disappeared mysteriously. The Royal Family will have their lives drastically affected by the course of the wars, forcing the prince to assume his role as a warrior.

 

 

Ryo R. Yuiyo II - Age: 18

"Do we have a choice? Are we allowed to choose our fate?"

Ryo is the protagonist of Lortrec: Uprising, the son of Ryo R. Yuiyo I and the heir to the throne of Lortrec. He has a very serious personality and often seeks the best strategy in a fight. He also hates wasting his time when he is not focusing on his objective.

If his strength is not enough in a fight, he will find a way to continue, but he will always refuse to surrender, due to his excessive pride and ambition that may, sometimes, lead him to perform undesired actions.

Kattis A'leu Yuiyo - Age: 17

"... I feel like my purpose is to help you."

Kattis is Ryo's younger sister and the former Royal Aegis of Lortrec, who inherited the Jade Sword from her father. She has a calm and sweet personality, but that can be immediately broken if she has to protect her family.

She is always trying to keep her friends together and find a peaceful way to end any conflicts, but she will also fight when it is necessary. Her most noticeable trait is that she will do all that she can only to protect her brother, even if it costs her own life.

 Seyen R. Yuiyo - Age: 14

"I would never accept such a miserable fate."

Seyen is the youngest son of the Royal Family of Lortrec, who has disappeared from the kingdom for nearly one year. One day, however, he was seen in Ryo's dream, acting differently from his usual self.

Seyen has an ambitious personality, who is willing to destroy any relationships and kill anyone only to accomplish his own goals.

 

Darron Hart - Age: 20

"The Uprising will always exist."
Darron is the leader of the Uprising and a former Fighter of Hope, from the kingdom of Alcyen. He has a somewhat sarcastic personality when annoyed, but he will always make sure that all of his teammates are in good conditions.

Darron can be a very caring and, at the same time, heroic person. He could put his own life at risk to save his friends.

 Isuke Aseo - Age: 16

"I am the Master of All Thieves... Is what I would like to say."

Isuke is a thief and the youngest member of the Uprising, being also the fastest one. Despite not having a significant physical strength, his incredible movement and attack speed are always important for him in a fight.

He is always willing to get more powerful, seeking new methods to achieve the highest potential. Sometimes, however, he may choose to escape from a fight.

 

 Nina Ani - Age: 18

"No matter what your objective is, do all that you can to achieve it."

Nina is a member of the Uprising and Darron's best friend, as well as a Fighter of Hope, from Alcyen. She has a kind personality and wants to keep her teammates happy. However, she can also be easily angered by the cirumstances.

In a fight, her powerful hammer can deal incredible physical and magical damage, but she cannot last very long in a battle.

Matt Darkos - Age: 18

"I just want to end this, already."

Matt is an archer whose both origins and backstory are almost unknown, although he seems to know the Dark King very well.

He has a very determined personality, who wants to defeat Draskia with the help of the Uprising and end the misery and the darkness that took over the lands.

 

 Tai Kasurei - Age: 19

"......"

Tai is one of the most loyal members of the Uprising. However, not much is known about him. He seems to be very quiet and serious, avoiding showing his emotions.

In a fight, he prefers to rely on his skills more than his physical strength or speed.

 

The "Dark King" - Age: Unknown

"For the glory of Draskia."

The Dark King is the main antagonist of Lortrec: Uprising, the king of Draskia and the leader of Dark Spirit Demons. His origins, real name and real form are completly unknown, but it is believed that he is one of the demons who managed to break through the Frontier and invaded the world of the humans.

He has a very cruel personality, but at the same time he seems to understand the humans, as well as being the only known demon who is capable of speaking.

 

General Darius R. - Age: 24

"Let this be a honorable execution."

General Darius is a major antagonist in Lortrec: Uprising and the leader of the Draskian troops. He is also responsible for the execution of the Uprising members and the multiple wars that brought countless deaths in all of the kingdoms.

He is always seen with a serious expression, and values honor more than anything else.

This is looking really nice so far, Sky Usanin!   I love that title screen - it's simple yet striking. Looks like you have some cool lighting effects going on in the screenshots as well. The story sounds like it'll be very emotional, since two brothers will be facing off against each other. It's definitely not just a simple save-the-world kind of plot! I also like that you're using the two-tile-tall sprites. I prefer the look of them to the single-tile ones.

 

The one thing I would like to see is a bit more information about Ryo's personality. He is the main character, after all! I wonder what he's like.

 

I'll be keeping my eyes on this project. Good luck with it!

My friends, I will tell you that the official release of the game's first demo Open Beta will be April 4th, 2016. I have been discussing about some other possible features to add, and maybe some things in the Battle will get to look way better. But for now, I'll not say much, as there is something else coming soon...
