johndfg 4 Posted January 21, 2016 I'm creating a horror game, and I want to be able to show emotion and give story through puzzles, without puzzles being easy or boring. I'm not sure how I can create engaging and creative puzzles, while still keeping horror atmosphere, story, and keeping the player engaged. I have a few ideas, but not enough to keep the puzzles interesting throughout the story. Any ideas?
Cookie Ninja 374 Posted January 21, 2016 First, I think you would get more responses if you put this topic under Theory and Development Second, here is a thread full of puzzles. Horror is mainly created through atmosphere, and that is kinda tricky. By for example darkening out most of the map you are completing the puzzle in, you may create a situation where the player feels unsafe while trying to solve it. Music and graphics helps alot too.. Hope it helps^^
Shiggy 630 Posted January 21, 2016 Look for Mummy Maze , it's a puzzle game with a light horror theme but the mechanics are good for some kind of horror puzzle I think
Tsarmina 2,612 Posted January 22, 2016 Closing this because there's a duplicate in Theory/Dev c:
