queenreckon 2 Posted January 31, 2016 Hi! I have a rather new Youtube channel and have been strongly advised to play games that aren't very popular (but still well made and interesting). So, do you have any suggestions? I'm open to pretty much all games, all I ask is that they be inexpensive or preferably, free. And, you know, not popular XD. However, I'm really looking out for horror games, story driven games, and RPG Maker games. I don't know if suggesting your own game would technically break the no advertisement rule, but I would be open to that too if it's allowed.
+ Takeo212 1,079 Posted January 31, 2016 I wouldn't mind checking our your channel and seeing what games you play in future (and have already played). I think it's cool you are wanting to play some not-as-popular games. RPGM games are pretty under rated in my opioion, so I wish you luck in getting some ones to play Maybe check out the Games Showcase section to see if anything is of interest to you? I would - for the start of a channel anyway - avoid certain games since the fanbase is kinda fussy. Games like FNAF and maybe Undertale are kinda in demand for LP's, but if they are played "wrong" people get angry and stuff. Either way, I wish you luck in your channel and wouldn't mind being able to check you out
Rikifive 3,411 Posted February 1, 2016 For example: I've started watching Markiplier, because he was playing interesting less known indie horror games and I generally liked the way he played these games. I've stopped* watching him, since he started to be boring ~ he changed a lot and it's not the same anymore - also he's playing less of these games now. * but still I wish the best for him ~ I'm not hating, just saying that I lost interest. I'm curious about your channel and how you're playing these games. Indie horror games were my favorite to watch. Also I really love humor ~ silly video edits and explosions ~ I love to laugh, so it's one of the main things that makes me interested. I don't have any particular games to suggest in mind ~ but I loved to explore the indie game market with Mark. You can try to look up for some games, that are posted on this forum or some indie games on Gamejolt or whatever. ^^ Additionally you can upload your let's plays of RPG MAKER games from this forum in this section ~ I'm sure some members will appreciate this. ^^ Good luck!
Milton Monday 63 Posted February 1, 2016 A few I can think of... Legend of Heroes: Trails series - Welp, you want a story heavy RPG that needs more love to LP? Well, here you go; these will keep you busy for a while. Trails SC and Cold Steel are still recent releases(and Cold Steel doesn't have a PC release, only PS3 and Vita), but the original Trails on the Sky is on sale on Humble for $10 right now (it's normally $20). Quest for Glory: One of the most underrated and under-appreciated game series of all time. A hybrid RPG/Adventure game with a corny sense of humor, fantastic art design, memorable characters, lots of awful puns, and a skill progression system Bethesda would later rip off wholesale for their deplorable Elder Scrolls series. $10 gets you the entire series from GOG. Earth Defense Force series: Not really the kind of game you're looking for, but needs more love. You know how in kaiju movies, there's always some hapless mooks trying their damnedest to take down Godzilla with a tank and rocket launchers? In EDF, you are that mook. This is not a game with a compelling story, memorable characters and thought provoking tactical gameplay; this is a game about roasting hoards of giant space bugs with a flame thrower while causing billions upon billions of dollars of collateral damage while ant bits fly through the air and your inept AI squadmates scream in terror and spout B-movie one liners. ... If you didn't use that pause to google the games immediately, it's because you do not know the meaning of the word "fun". EDF! EDF! EDF! Unfortunately, though, all the good EDFs are console exclusive, the only PC release is Insect Armageddon, a farmed out effort from a B-grade American developer that didn't seem to really understand what makes the series special; so if you don't have a capture card, don't bother.
Purple Phantom 453 Posted February 7, 2016 Primal is a fantastic lesser-known game, as is RLH: Hunt or be Hunted. They are both games that were intended to have sequels but, due to poor reception (for literally no reason), the sequels were cancelled. The only complaints I could possibly have are... Primal: Some levels can be buggy and it's entirely possible to fall through the ground/walk through walls/get stuck in some sort of "limbo" under certain circumstances. (This typically happens when you use cheat codes, but it CAN happen without them.) One of the levels is basically turning on a load of generators. If cheat codes are used, enemies can get stuck in the air and you will be unable to defeat them. This includes bosses that can fly, like Raum. RLH: Hunt or be Hunted: There is no sequel. Ends on a cliffhanger that just makes you NEED a sequel. Otherwise, I think Slime Rancher is just adorable (not sure about how well-known it is) and Haunting Ground, if you can find it, is fantastic. Slime Rancher: Can be heartbreaking when the tars come around or the sun comes up around Phosphor Slimes.Haunting Ground: Hewie is kickable. What monster would kick a dog?! Some of the puzzles take at least 10 minutes to do - and that's when you know what you're doing.

Ninjamida 65 Posted August 6, 2017 (edited) I'm a huge fan of the Lemmings series (and admittedly, head admin of a Lemmings forum and developer of, as far as I know, the most popular Lemmings clone engine). It's great if you like puzzle games. There's also a LOT of fanmade content out there, if you've played the official stuff to death - Lemmings Reunion is a great pack to play if you're looking for a challenge (it's not one of my packs; mine are the Lemmings Plus series). I have my own RPG Maker game too if you're after more of those, check my signature for a link to the topic. It's very heavily inspired (mechanics-wise) by Final Fantasy X, but it's considerably harder. Now, for games that aren't my own creations - not sure if they're obscure enough for your liking, but some games I've picked up through Playstation Plus that I really enjoyed include Stealth Inc (and its sequel), The Swindle, and Mousecraft. Another neat puzzle game I remember from back in the day (though I never completed, it got too hard for me) was Blockman.
