General Art Workshop!

Recommended Posts

I got permission from Tsarmina for this! Yay!

Okay, welcome to this workshop!

I tried finding an art thread that is dedicated solely to studies of people, and not the individual/OP.

This is mainly a thread for displaying your studies, if you want to share your thoughts on people's works, giving and receiving feedback on the things you post here.

Everyone's welcome to post their studies regardless of skill-level.

Giving other artists feedback will be very much appreciated. Of course, that goes without saying, I'll also do my best to help people out.

For starters, a practice that I do a lot, is gesture drawing! I've only just begun practicing this stuff and I wish I did it when I first started art.

A good start would be to draw a pose in 5 minutes.

The main point of this is to capture human flow and movement. Once you can do that quickly, you can then begin refining the anatomy. I've still not perfected this, as you can see, but it's a really good practice.

This was my first time doing it. It looked so stiff.

Compared to my very recent one! It looks a lot better now but I still have a ways to go. The main thing to forget is the contour! (I'm not a very good example.)

There are a lot of gesture drawing websites out there like quickposes or pixelovely that helps me practice. Try it out if you want =D.

Woah ~ Your art is wonderful! I wish I had the same talent. ><

Thank you ;-;

Want to post your practices/studies/unfinished work here as well? (To give this thread a little jump start.)

Here's today's set of gestures.

Struggled in simplifying today. Don't know why.

I wish I will be good as you in drawing human body properly, someday. Someday.

Thanks!

You could post how you practice or something. I'd do my best to provide feedback, (but only if you want it.)

Pixel art :c I could say the same. That's a land that I tried venturing but had not succeeded. XD I'm so bad with it. I envy you and other pixel artists* that could do it.

Don't worry ~ Pixel art is a thing that takes more time than digital art, it's a thing that is more complicated than digital art. So by learning and practicing you'll improve! =3

Feel free to send me your pixel art if you need any feedback on them. ^^

I don't practice enough so that was a really helpful prompt...

You said you wanted some tips... And first of all, lemme say your gestures look great! I think your areas of improvement rn would be facial anatomy, hair, clothing. You should do just as many practice sketches of faces as you do for bodies! realistic and stylised!

Poses are well done indeed.

You would be of great help to someone who needed some full body character pictures/drawings.

LOL, those comments are precious XD I love your sketch style, it looks wonderful, despite what your characters seem to think. ;)

Hi there.

Your contour drawings are very well done. They show that you have a level of understanding of the human body that many can only hope to achieve one day. [including myself]

I look forward to potentially being a part of the discussion from here on out.
