I love the mapping of this game and the battle system. For me, it doesn't even feel like an RPG maker game when I tried it out. I think my favorite thing has been the fishing system since I love fishing mini games. ^_^

I have no idea why this was never moved to Gaming Lounge, aside from me not knowing it had a demo, anyway just downloaded it and will likely write up a review on it soon.

*Shaddow suffered an epic-fail* This forum section is your responsibility I believe, if it wasn't moved it's because you didn't check for something.

Nice mapping by the way Galv!

Well I could have moved it myself, I suppose :P Thanks Shaddow.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Slowly doing bits and pieces on this. So close to the end yet so much more to do...

Wow! I absolutely love the look of this! I'm downloading it right now, but I would really like to ask you a few questions, I'm a beginner at RPG Maker, you see.

A. How did you get those icons like the rolled up map on start, the skull on depart, etc.? Is it a script of some sort? If so, could you give me the name?

B. Is there any specific tilesets you use? I would really like to recreate a ship like that, but I cannot find any that seem suitable. So, if you could tell me the tileset, if the was a tileset, or just how to make a ship similar to that, I would be very grateful.

A. Yanfly's Command Window Icons script

Thank you so much!

I'm also trying to figure out how to use your fishing script, you are very talented to make that, haha. I'm a beginner in scripting so I'm very excited about it. But I cannot figure out how to set it up for specific locations, would I do it through events? If so, how? And I'm really sorry to bug you with this.

Download the demo and see the examples of multiple fishing locations.

Please ask anything else to do with my fishing script in the script topic or PM, not here :)

Ahoy, bring me an ale, hic!
Hey Galv. Been searching for some scripts when I found out about this project of yours, and well, pirates, man. How I miss them in the world of RPG Maker. I can't recall many games that used piracy as the main theme of the adventure. Sure there was CrossBone, and in the brazilian community there is a lot of good games like the trilogy Orca, but I feel that a pirate's game is an excellent choice, especially when there are already a lot of games that feature high fantasy and medieval style adventures.

One thing I always like to check in videogames: how much the developer has decided to go in order to develop his characters! So, we have this pirate guy that likes oranges but at limes. Not a friend of lemonade I imagine. I loved the characters. I think it's great to have a variety of people in a group. People with different opinions. After all, what fun it all would be if the whole group loved oranges? Who would care for limes? Hehe.

The screenshots... wow! Must be hard work. I can see how far you go to create something new. And that can be a problem as well! Your maps are great. You don't use too many objects, and there is the smart use of backgrounds. Also, the systems are great. I really need to say this: I think it's great for a person who develops such a fun and amusing mini-game as the fishing system to share it with the community. You could have kept the scripts for yourself, but instead you decided to share with us! That's awesome, in my opinion.

I would really love to play this game, Galv.

I can only imagine how hard it must be to write codes and still have time to create backgrounds and work on an story, but I think you are doing great. I wish you the best luck in the world. Keep up the good work ;)

EDIT: Oh, there is already a demo! I will gladly play, and as soon as I can I give my feedback ;)

Wow this is so amazing!! I really love the maps and i was wondering how you made them so thanksfor the video. Oh and uh this is kind of hard for me to explain but there is this game called Skies of Arcadia, it is also about pirate but within the game there is this feature where by traveling to towns you can find people that you can convince in joining your team. I don't know if this is a good idea but ijust wanted to put it out there.  :P

I loved skies of arcadia (from what I remember of it with my bad memory haha, might have to play it again one day) .

This is just a very short linear story as it is my first game (I call it my first but guess I did start an RTP one but never finished it or showed many people). Convincing people to join the team wouldn't work for the story as it is, but it's a good idea for a future pirate game that may or may not happen...

This is looking absolutely awesome!! The characters are fun, and I can tell from reading it you have great writing skills, everything sounds fun and engaging and realllllyyy makes me look forward to the dialogue and character development in this game! The setting is great and your skills in parallax mapping are obviously awesome! I especially love the map with your tent in it, the last screenshot, truly awesome. And your little video on parallax mapping is super helpful!

I like the dog follower (I always want to put dogs in my game xD) and the fishing idea :) really cool, I'm sure with all your scripting genius the game will flow very nicely!

I can't wait until I can play some of it!! 8)

Thanks! I actually started this game before I knew how to script so most of the scripts I have done aren't even in it.

It's one of the reasons that is delaying my finishing it - I learned a lot of new things making it and then learning how to script... I feel like I could have made it a whole lot better and to finish it I have to continue doing things the old hard way I started doing them :P. I do plan to still finish this, though. It's been fairly close for a while now

Well nonetheless new scripts or old, the story still looks enticing and the graphics are gorgeous, so I expect to have fun! :)

Plus any kind of fishing script is just plain cool in my opinion. Did you write that one?

The fishing in Pirate Rush is fully evented (the idea for it from Breath of Fire II). It wasn't until 8 or so months after I did that I wrote a fishing script in the same style but it's not being used in this game (too lazy to go change it all haha). :P
