Any one play?

I'm sort of getting into it a bit. A bit shaky on rules and such.

Hopefully playing a session over Roll20 tomorrow night-ish.

Anyone have any interesting stories?

I haven't really played too much to have any amazing or funny stories.

I have a weird relationship with tabletop RPGs . I love hearing people's stories about them . I like reading rules books of different systems to see because I 'm interested in game design and I like to see how different systems intertwined mechanics with narrative opportunities but playing them is not reallly my thing.
I tried to play Call of Chtulu with some friends more experienced in tabletop and I just couldn't get into it , I was just following their adventures which I enjoyed in itself but it  still felt a bit weird

If you want good D&D stories , I advise you to check this

It's one of my favorite youtube series despite the let's say "cheap" production value

After you roll a couple of characters, you more or less learn what rules are important and what rules aren't. The beauty of DnD is that you can choose to ignore certain rules as long as everyone else in your campaign is okay with ignoring those rules as well. Tabletop roleplaying in general is a very imaginative experience, not to mention that the social element is super crucial.

So for your Roll20, do shitty and amateur voice acting, bring a lot of snacks for yourself (but make sure your friends can't hear you eat), and have a good time. That being said, I could never bring myself to do the voice acting part, but I've seen people do it, and it looks fun. That's what is important, correct?

As for my personal stories...I don't have many. I have the 3.5 edition books for DnD, and a bunch of other tabletop gaming books like Dark Heaven: Apocalypse (that's a booklet with a lot of sample figures in the universe, that area is a super interesting read), but I rarely if ever play a game. I mostly have them for stuff like references - I'm a humongous fan of games based off tabletop rules, such as Baldur's Gate II, Neverwinter Nights II, and Planescape: Torment. Hell, the original Fallout and Fallout 2 had a lot of mechanics that felt based off tabletop rules as well, and it was awesome. Also include â€‹Vampire: The Masquerade.

I've played in a Shadowrun, World of Darkness/Ars Magicka (D10), and a Legend campaign, and that's about it. I need to rack my brain for cool stories though, it's been a few years.

Can also watch this, it shows what an in-person session is like.

These are pretty good videos.

I'm familar with Projared, I wanted to watch his D&D stuff a while ago, but the time length on a bunch of them were fairly long.

Tales from My D&D Campaign seems a fair bit more easy to sit through.

So, I have played D&D before, a few years ago, very briefly.

I'm only just getting more into it, understanding the rules and such.

I made a pretty silly character back then.

His name is Hagrid, like the Harry Potter character.

He believes himself to be a dwarf, acts accordingly so.

Isn't afraid to kick down doors.

Yeah, I love doing voices, so I'm probably going to go a bit nuts with that.

Unfortunately, I'm only a player, not a DM, so I don't really get to show off my narrow range for voice acting.

If you need a miserable, dead inside, gruff sounding guy, I'm your man!

I used to play AD&D (first edition; I bought my books at a thrift store) ages ago along with TSR's Marvel Super Heroes and an early edition of Shadowrun.  But after high school our group fell apart, and I've never been able to find a good long-term RPG group since.  Which sucks.  Being high school kids, we all had goofy-as-frick characters and nobody really took the game seriously.

My longterm character was a cleric of Kord called D'Jork... who had 6 intelligence.  He wasn't very useful as a healer, because he was just too plain stupid to use his spells efficiently, but he had a lot of spirit, a can-do attitude, and dammit, he was a survivor!  He once wrestled an Owlbear into submission!

Also, to add to YouTubers with RPG tales, The Spoony One has much wisdom to share.
