Aletheos 41 Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) Arts and crafts and/or programming, depending on which school we're talking about. I also enjoyed English; It was always one of my stronger subjects. My least favorite was always PE, and now my body reflects that disdain... speaking of nothing... I could really go for a pizza right now... Well, let's bring it back to game design with another double question: What do you think of Extra Credits' youtube-series on game design, specifically the Making Your First Game-videos? And, if you haven't watched them, or don't care: How do you get out of a funk where you don't feel motivated to work, or what do you do when you feel like you're not good enough? Oh, no... did I break the rules, posting twice in a day? Edited July 28, 2017 by Aletheos
Kayzee 4,032 Posted July 28, 2017 I think Extra Credits always has been too apologetic to the screwed up 'gaming industry' and too focused on playing by it's standards. Not that it's a bad series, just one that is very constrained by it's own insider's perspective sometimes. Same with the series it's self in some ways. It's a way of doing things but not necessarily the way of doing things. What's you secret guilty pleasure? Come on, you can tell me! <3 I don't have one, I am never guilty about my pleasure. PhoenixSoul 1,404 Posted July 28, 2017 I guess it is mostly secret offline...online not so much. Vorarephilia. Well, tell me this. Which rock 'n' roll song (or genre derivative) was the first you ever heard? Mine was One by Metallica, long ago...
Kayzee 4,032 Posted July 28, 2017 Hehe, I already knew that one. First rock music I really remember paying attention too (because, unlike most rock, it was actually sorta good *shots fired*) was Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, but I probobly heard lots of crap before then that I hardly remember. What's your favorite word for a private part? (Mine is vagoo, cause it's fun to say. Vagoooooooooo!)
+ Takeo212 1,079 Posted July 28, 2017 Hehe. The "fun word" between my friends an I was always "va-jay-jay". My friend is a male gay, so anything related to womens body parts grossed him out and made him call them weird names. "Man Stick" was an old one he liked too... What was one of the most embarrassing situations you have ended up in?
PhoenixSoul 1,404 Posted July 28, 2017 Back when I was a lesser mature twit, my brother wore my mother's coronation dress. Mother and Auntie were all over him, swooning and such, and it was both annoying as well as embarrassing, at least, back then. For me, if I were to see this happen now, I'd likely be just as bad as mother and auntie were. @Kayzee Pink Floyd is awesome. I wish I had their music (I mean a physical copy). Anyone here ever play Guitar Hero and/or Rock Band? (fun times)
Aletheos 41 Posted July 29, 2017 (edited) I only played the worst guitar hero, the third one(Legends of Rock), for the Nintendo Wii. I liked it. But it wasn't until many years later I realized it was a total rip-off; That the experience other players had was completely different, with their own downloaded(or uploaded) music and what not. And apparently, the song lists for the earlier games were much better. Favorite song: Even Flow - Pearl Jam. What is your favorite Dungeons & Dragons class and race? (3.5e, 4th, 5th, any editions and home-brews allowed. Motivate your answer with at least two sentences.) Edited July 29, 2017 by Aletheos
Kayzee 4,032 Posted July 29, 2017 (edited) I am kind of a fan of bards. They may be spoony, but a good bard can bluff like nothing else and do all sorts of other helpful stuff. Also I kind of like the idea of a Dirgesinger because I find the idea of a really emo bard hilarious, but I don't know if they are very practical to actually play. Tieflings are one of the most interesting common playable race to me. A little bit of demonic touch can be fun! Though I probobly rather play a halfling to be honest. Too bad I am pretty sure fairies are not a playable race! :3 Hmmm a question... How about your favorite color? Probably been asked before but screw it. (Mine is actually gold or silver if that counts. Purple is up there too.) Edited July 29, 2017 by Kayzee
PhoenixSoul 1,404 Posted July 29, 2017 (edited) @Aletheos Guitar Hero on the Wii is fuckawful. You totally missed out. (FTR, Smash Hits, Metallica and Warriors of Rock had the best songs.) Favorite D&D class/race...I'd have to play first... Favorite color? Depends on the context. I'd say, in general, reds, pinks, purples... Textiles, reds, ebonies, pinks, the occasional blues... Cosmetics, pinks, reds, greens, teals, oranges, and the occasional ebonies, silvers, and blues... To note one specific color I like above all others? Crimson. Anyone else here have the Game Character Hub? Edited July 29, 2017 by PhoenixSoul
Tarq 746 Posted July 31, 2017 Yeah. Pretty pointless software tbh but can rush half-interesting NPCs in it I s'pose. Similarly, favourite art(graphics) software?
Aletheos 41 Posted July 31, 2017 Blender, hands down. It can do 3D-modelling, 2D/3D-animation, coding, video editing(and similarly sound, I suppose, but that's very limited). About the only thing It's lacking, and I may be mistaken about this, is decent 2D-layers. For that I still prefer GIMP. But the two in combination is about the greatest thing I know. Throw in BFXR for sound effects and you have, in my opinion, the ultimate free art/code/game-design package. But I'm biased, and stuck in my ways. SAI probably is better than GIMP, but I could never get into it. But I wanna know... Daenerys "Stormborn" Targaryen or Jon "Snow" Stark-Targaryen for the Iron throne? And/or... Do you have a really unpopular pick for favorite character from a popular franchise? Who? Why?
Tarq 746 Posted July 31, 2017 Nah. Littlefinger's gna sit on the Iron Throne dude. Tbh, they're both too idealistic to rule well. I guess the idea is that they could root out the corruption of King's Landing but, eh, I think you need a little Machiavilli in you to be an effective ruler. Not Littlefinger levels obviously as he just single-mindedly pursues power and doesn't really have a goal for it but Tyrion is probably about the right mix. What film/series did you prefer over the book/other original source material?
PhoenixSoul 1,404 Posted July 31, 2017 I can't say there was one, honestly. Ah, there they go; at noon every Monday, the sirens go off. What about you? Does something happen regularly where you live? Like, as if it were scheduled?
lonequeso 1,921 Posted August 4, 2017 Springtime. Tornado sirens every Tuesday at 10am. (Cuz they are scheduled) In the fall we have our annual Purge. Let's go with something simple. Favorite movie?
PhoenixSoul 1,404 Posted August 5, 2017 Unnn... One favorite? C'est Impossible! I'll just name one of my favorites randomly. The Neverending Story. (Wish I could live in Fantasia instead) DJ Hero, or Osu! ? (or if neither, Guitar Hero and Rock Band are acceptable)
Kayzee 4,032 Posted August 6, 2017 Crypt of the Necrodancer. If you could rule the world, how would you do it?
lonequeso 1,921 Posted August 9, 2017 (edited) With an Iron Fist . It would totally be peace through superior firepower. For what I want, I'd have to have some pretty amazing superpowers. Enough that I'm powerful enough to where the collective military of every nation can't take me down. Guess I'll go roll around in some radioactive waste and hope for the best. On that note (pretty sure this is has been asked. Oh well) If you could have just one superpower what would it be and why? Edited August 9, 2017 by lonequeso
Kayzee 4,032 Posted August 9, 2017 (edited) Well I am tempted to go with the same one as the most overpowered hero ever. No really look at her stats. What? Squirrels? Nonono... That's not her real power. Her real power is the ability to be a creator's pet and silly fourth wall breaking joke who is somehow able to beat anyone. Bit like what would happen if in Worm Spoiler Somehow Taylor had her Master bug powers but also somehow ended up with a fully unlocked version of Contessa's Path to Victory. Only somehow actually happy, without all the horrible horrible baggage that powers bring in Worm. But I think I will stick with my magical abilities, being a fairy is super awesome! Do you believe in fairies? . Edited August 9, 2017 by Kayzee
Aletheos 41 Posted August 9, 2017 (edited) The ability to snap my fingers and project realization into people's minds. Not my own subjective viewpoint, but actual profound realization. I think it would make the world a better place, if more people thought deeper about... well, everything really. No clue how it would work, though. I'd take time travel as a close second, or at least the sonic mover from Returner. But that's more super gadgets than super powers. Speaking of which... if you could time travel, when would you go, and why? Edit: No. I do not believe in fairies. And, no. I will not clap my hands. Does that mean you're going to die now? Edited August 9, 2017 by Aletheos
lonequeso 1,921 Posted August 9, 2017 @Kayzee- Yay Squirrel Girl! Your question got skipped *deathstares Alethos* so I'll answer both. No I don't believe in fairies. Time travel....? Somewhere in the past. It'd be interesting to see the world well before TV and internet. Maybe Industrial Revolution. Or further back to feudal Europe or Japan. I've always found those time periods interesting from the social castes to defending castles. Same question: if you could time travel, when would you go, and why?
Kayzee 4,032 Posted August 9, 2017 Ack! *holds heart and falls over dead* ... ... ... Kidding! It's okay if you don't believe in us. We still believe in you! *Grins a bit too widely* Hmmm... If I could time travel I would have serious questions about the implications. Hmmm... So many possible things to mess with! If I could go back and mess around with history untill it's just the way I wanted, would there be any reason not to do so? I will let that be my question I guess.
Aletheos 41 Posted August 9, 2017 (edited) Ok, so we're breaking with the format somewhat, but I've prepared myself for this one for some time now. Here we go: Step 1 On the day the machine was first unveiled to the world, I broke through security and stole it right off the stage. First jump, 50 years into the future. Here I gathered tech to protect myself from the dangers of the past and enough computer power that I could effectively bring the internet with me wherever I go. Step 2 I went back through my own life, with the intent of undoing mistakes and repairing relationships. First a month or two. Confess your feelings to that girl. Don't let the opportunity slip by. Then, a year or so. Succeed on the MCSD using knowledge from my future. Then, another few years. Slap myself in the face and tell me to get my marriage back in shape, and maybe actually use that platinum gym-card for something? Then it's off to... Step 3 Exploring the past, like the doctor. In fact, you know what? I might just end up being the real inspiration for the show. I stepped back longer and longer every time. A year here, a decade there, then a few centuries. Adventuring, kicking ass, saving civilizations, maybe ruling a few. Then it's off to the grandest adventure of all time. Step 4 Find out what's on the other side of the Big Bang. ...It gets a bit fuzzy at this point. ...would there be a reason not to do so? Naturally, since there are no known mechanisms by which causality could somehow bend backwards through time. ie. Every movie depicting someone fading out of existence is violating the first and second(and third?) law of thermodynamics. We therefore can only really accept the multiple worlds hypothesis. So, no. No reason at all. This world you leave behind, and there are a potential infinity of others, so. We'll be fine. You can have your universe. I'm sure it'll be fine too... mostly. Will you bend the knee to Daenerys Targaryen, our rightful queen of Westeros? Edited August 9, 2017 by Aletheos
PhoenixSoul 1,404 Posted August 9, 2017 NO! Never! (I honestly don't have a bleeding clue who that is) I'm not a servant of any monarchy, dammit! I'm the Princess of Purity, and mortals take a knee to my presence! Well, actually, no, I don't let them because that looks pathetic, but it is common practice to kneel before your governing non-mortal deities. Where do you suppose this whole 'One God' story came from? Does it have any real significance or is it all just happenstance? (I guess that's two questions but they're both relevant...)
lonequeso 1,921 Posted August 9, 2017 Ooo... good question. My personal and therefore the correct take on it: It was created for two reasons. First was to establish law and order. A set of rules for people to live by and a general guide on how to live together as one. Sure someone could step up to lead themselves and decree rules, but how do you ensure people will follow them? More importantly how do you keep others from disagreeing with your rules, killing you, and taking your place? Convince them there is some unimaginable great power that created everything and everyone that is speaking through you. Going against these rules has severe consequences and following them has great rewards. Convince the people this being speaks through you so they must look to you for guidance and obey your laws. Second was to answer the unanswerable questions. How the world came to be. How people came to be. Our purpose. An omnipotent being creating everything and then creating us as the chosen people to rule the land. I'm an optimist so I like to think the idea came from a righteous, noble place. I'm not so optimistic about the religions born after. The later in history they're formed the more i think they were made simply to gain power and control. Personal gain above aiding the people. My other theory is the first person was just bat shit crazy and really did believe everything he said was true, and people were dumb enough to believe him. It could happen. Look who's President of the US =p That was kinda heavy handed so let's lighten the mood. How much wood do you believe a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Aletheos 41 Posted August 9, 2017 A woodchuck would in fact chuck no amount of wood, since woodchucks have a biologically determined hatred for alliteration and very low tolerance for sarcasm. But what is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
