Possible Character Designs

Recommended Posts

Alrighty, guys. I'm stuck in that character development phase of "what do they wear?", so I'm asking you guys. Which ones do you guys like the best out of the three categories - Casual, Dressy and School?

Character information: She's a ghost who watches over her twin brother. She's laid back and kind, but can't let anyone besides her brother know she's there, so she disguises herself as a cat when other people are looking and she feels like being visible. When she doesn't mind being invisible (except to her brother, who can always see her), she often changes her outfit to suit the situation. (In my universes, ghosts can change how old they look, how their clothing looks and even shapeshift and retain a physical form on top of all other ghostly abilities.)

The only "for sure" things I have (outfit-wise) are the strawberry-themed items, the hearts and a little cat necklace. As for colours, most definitely blues, blacks and purples with (maybe) an occasional red thrown in.

>She

>Twin

>Brother

Isn't that the answer itself ?

Twin usually have similiar taste in fashion.

and also

Laid back and kind usually prefer simple cloth/design.

Can't comment much since I'm not really an expert at fashion.

I vote;

Casual 3

Casual 5

I agree that laid back and baggy clothing do go together - though that isn't an exact science I suppose. However, if you want your character to appear laid back and caring, light coloured loose clothing would do that trick. Atleast cosmetically.

I think 3 and 5 capture that well, though you never explained the images purposes so I assume they're a "pick your fave concept".

PS: 5's pose reminds me of a DBZ character xD

Before I answer, is this the same ghost girl as your other post about the optional bosses?

If they had the same taste in fashion, School 2 would end up being her casual outfit.  I wanted there to be a bit of a difference between her and her brother. She's more laid back, he's more serious, she prefers more comfortable clothing, he prefers fancier clothing... And I'm no expert at fashion, either, so don't worry. I just use whatever matches the personality of the character. ;)

I completely agree - laid back and caring go hand in hand with light-coloured, baggy clothing. ^_^ And yup, that's the purpose of the images. :)

PS: lolz XD

Pooooooooooooossibly. I am at no liberty to say at this moment.

lmao! So in other words, yes. Spoiler alert? There is a specific reason I asked. There (usually) is a method to my madness. If she's someone the player has to fight, you may want to use that as part of your consideration. Before I get to that, here's my votes based purely off my personal bias.

Casual would be 2. 5 is a close second. I don't really like 5's pose, but I like the outfit. Dressy is number 3. Just the right mix of punk and emo. She looks more rebellious in that style, and the pose and bright purple lipstick screams self confidence. My kinda girl  :) School would be neither. i like the catholic schoolgirl look far more. Do I really need to explain why? Instead,  to quote The Red Hot Chili Peppers, catholic school girls rule! Honestly though, the school uniform look seems to have a very wide appeal, especially when it's a schoolgirl so any school uniform is a pretty safe bet.  On the other hand, if I was in high school and required to wear a uniform, and I died and was able to come back and have whatever clothes I want, I'd pick anything but a school uniform. Just food for thought.

That covers me personal and therefore the correct  choices for styles to use. Now to the whole optional boss fight thingie. There's two routes you can go with that. The first would to be to have her more plainly dressed and if you're using full body portraits, a non threatening, maybe even timid pose. Someone very unintimidating. Until she starts smacking you around. That'd a fun little twist.

The other route then, would of course, to make her look tough. A bold clothing style and a confidant, maybe even aggressive pose. Someone who looks like they have no issue knocking you out if you cross them. Almost daring the player to make an enemy of her.

There my two cents. Or maybe more like two dollars.  ^_^

Yes, very much so spoiler alert. XD -shrug- Oh well. The ghost cat's out of the bag. XD Nice choices for the clothes. :) As for the 'school' things, it's based off of the school uniform in the game, which was designed skirtless - you get pants or shorts, a white button down, sneakers or boots and a long jacket or a short jacket. I completely agree, though. Having gone to a school were uniforms existed (x_x), I'd never change into it, but she does it to make her bro feel more comfortable.

As for the boss fight, I'm going the first route until she gets hit enough. Then, her pose changes to a threatening one, complete with fire, electricity and flaming electricity. You really shouldn't have killed her brother.

That sounds fantastic! My preference would weigh towards 'dressy 2 & 3' as they apeal to two of my weaknesses, one being looking harmless but being very deadly, the other being motion, I simply love it when art makes me feel like something is happening. But then again what do I know..... I'm just a cookie ninja! ^~^

I like casual 1 and 2 actually XD I think that someone who's laid back and kind but also somewhat shy would have a demure way of dressing--so not the really loud/vivid colors. And I think she would be either very casual or cute, which is why I'm leaning towards 1 or 2. c:

The answer depends on what you're going for with this character. These designs are really varied in the impression that they give off - some are goth, some are girly, and some are more casual. I think that Casual 3, School 1, and Dressy 3 give off the most laid-back vibe out of these, but if you think that she would have a more rebellious or cutesy style based on what you know about her, then go with that.

You may also want to consider narrowing down the motifs on her outfit (strawberries, hearts, and cats) to just one. It'll help her design feel more cohesive. Cats would probably make the most sense, seeing as she can turn into one.
