Phil-S 18 Posted June 1, 2016 Hi all. If anyone can help out in assisting me in somehow getting these backgrounds for these sprite sheets transparent, I'd really appreciate it or any guidance. Thanks!
magic2345 252 Posted June 1, 2016 There should be an import resource option in whatever maker you are using. You can set the transparency color using that.
Seriel 830 Posted June 1, 2016 There should be an import resource option in whatever maker you are using. You can set the transparency color using that. Sadly MV doesn't have that feature as far as i'm aware so that method won't work. One second while I try to make these transparent.. -some time later- Well I got all except the first, it was a jpeg that started acting up with gimp. Here are the ones I did:

And yeah, you should never use jpg for pixel art, they tend to muddle the colors.
KaisoAri 78 Posted June 2, 2016 (edited) Well I got all except the first, it was a jpeg that started acting up with gimp. I gotcha on that one: It's still a little messy, but I managed to get the background transparent. Anyway, Phil-S, whenever I'm making sprites or images I always make another layer in paint.net/Photoshop. One of them is just a transparent layer (which is the default Background layer) and the other will be what I will draw on. Whenever I am finished, I just delete the Background layer under my drawn layer so that my background will be fully transparent. However, you must save it as a PNG for the transparency to work. JPEG or any other file format (as far as I'm aware of) will not work. If I remember right, I think RPG Maker today only uses PNG files anyway. Granted they are bigger in terms of file size, they come out looking a lot more crisp and sharper. I hope that helped out in some way. Good luck!
