Opinions For An OC's Color Scheme

Recommended Posts

Greetings creative green people !

Briefly , I have made those two drafts (right below) . And yes those are drafts , they really don't flatter my skills , but it is midnight and I rapidely made those within 3 minutes to have quick feedbacks . Also take in consideration that the drawing was not made diligently either . ( < trying to give myself excuses for this petty , lazy rendering.)

Well ! I have made this original character and attempted to pull off the right color scheme for her .

Now the issue is that I am really tempted between those two color schemes and cannot choose  only one .

On the left side , it looks majestic , expressive and somewhat mysterious . I really think dark purple and red looks fine together .

On the right side , it looks softer than the other one . It gives a cuter tone and and the character seems a little more shy , pure and monotonous , but cuter ! Really .

Both color schemes have their own assets , and while some might want to know this girl's personnality to base their opinion on , I do not want her design's colors to reveal anything about herself .

So , which one do you prefer ?

Also , I have left a .png picture of this draft if you ever want to show me your own color schemes .

If you do , mostly try to included purple , blue or pink colors and shades .

I'll be pleased to see your own tastes !

Thank you very much for your consideration !

Yay! I love beautiful art :)

Hmm, so imo, if you don't want her outfit to give away anything about her personality (which is curious choice :)), I don't think either of them are quite suitable, though I like the one on the left more. The one on the right seems a little bit too little girlish to have much deeper meaning (no offense!), i.e. when I see it I immediately and probably subconsciously identify her as a somewhat shy but sweet and naive young girl. However, I think the one on the left is maybe a bit too serious/gothic lolita looking. (I think it's the dark purple.) The red part is really nice, though. It gives her a real pop. :D

I might be biased because I favour lighter themes (especially blue lol) but that's just my opinion, feel free to take it or leave it ^_^ I wanna add though that even if her colours don't reveal anything about her, her expression and her pose and clothing of choice do. :)

Thank you dear !

Well , she will be featured in a game in which you have to discover each characters . Whether it is about their interests , their hobbies , or even their personnality traits . So I really don't want the color schemes to say anything about them , moreoever , I find it a little ..hm... odd I would say , that in most animes their hair color most of the time depict their personnality , I really don't think that physical features should portray one's character , except if they are very extreme in their nature , like a very tsunder-ish fiery and hotheaded girl might not have blue hair but instead something such as red , orange and what not .

Most of my characters have an insidious personnality , like most of people in real life , you get to know a little more about them and discover their true nature through experiences and time dedication .

So , here you are with the explaination haha , sorry if it comes out a little long .

Now the thing is that (let's give an exemple , I am trying not to divulge too much of this OC) . But let's say she comes as an invinting , shy and genteel girl but is indeed a little dark and becomes slightly "twisted" when things get out of control around her . The color scheme on the left wouldn't really let you believe that she is bashful since it contains assertive and expressive colors , however , it would suit her theme when she starts becoming dark . Now , with the color scheme on the right , it does suit the timid and lovely girl stereotype , however it would surprise the player when she would start acting in a bizarre manner .

Now , again , sorry if it is quite of a long explaination :x ! I really want to clear everything out . Haha !

But beside that , thank you for your taking your time responding and giving me your opinion , I greatly appreaciated it ! :)
