The Town That Feared Nightfall

NOTICE! This will be updated with each new update to the game itself (current update is in the exe's name).

Abstract: A small town is suddenly gripped with fear as a killer randomly picks them off at night, and only you can save them if you're quick enough to find them.

Genre: Horror, murder mystery, and MLP FIM (Friendship Is Magic)

Average Demo Time: 30 minutes at most

Game Progression: At the moment the game only goes up to the end of night 2, which can end in a couple of ways. There are unfinished bits, like characters having no lines at certain parts. I'm trying to mainly focus on the story and important moments, but I will go back and add character lines after I get enough of the story done. The game will take a long time to finish and fully write, since there are more than 1 outcome to certain cutscenes, hence why you'll see characters just standing idly and mute.

My best friend, Silvergunner, tested the game and told me to resize a house or two to better match the building's outside shape. So I'll be doing that sometime in the future, also---and spoiler for night 2 so read at your own risk.

On night 2 you "can" save one of 2 ponies, but it's incomplete (removed the time limit until I write all possible outcomes for the night). With Poppy Dreams you can find her in 1 of 3 random spots, while her sister can only be found in 1. The reason why is because I gotta write the outcome for her, which results in---well you'll see when you get there.

Also, if you play the tutorial lvls there is a glitch that I just cannot fix. I'll be posting a topic about it but basically it's a pathfinding/stealth issue. Other than that my friend reported no other glitches, but if you manage to run into one be sure to let me know. Also! Almost forgot but if you play the game then do so as the female character. Why? Because I wrote 85% of the game's cutscenes so far for her, I'll have to go back and rewrite nearly every single cutscene with the male character, which I'm not gonna do until I get most of the game completed.

Recruitment: I can't really pay to recruit people, but whoever plays the alphas and help report bugs and such will all get credited when game is completed.

Story / Setting / Purpose:

The game will be mostly set in a single town (it's mostly empty with a in-game reason given). You can pick between a male or female character (again pick the latter for now, unless you want to see her cutscenes as the male character) who arrive in town on your way either to a collage or to become a teacher. However, when you stay overnight you are awoken by a scream. A pony is found dead, and it is only the beginning as you soon become the victim of a sickening game.

If you're quick you can save the lives of a few ponies, but take to long and their death is on your hands (or just let them die for a very bad ending, you monster XD). So if you play your cards right you can save more than 1 life (WHEN I fully write said outcomes), a key feature is your choices and the possible paths, endings, and character interactions.

The purpose of this game is take a old yet still commonly used story and rework it with a new twist. Taking something old and breathing life into it with a totally new spin, and if you're a FIM fan you'll know what I mean when you play the alpha which only begins the mystery. Another key feature I want to do is leave enough open for people to theorize and connect all the dots like they would for the FNAF series.

So you'll be getting clues and pieces to a puzzle that, when you get every possible ending and scenes, are still left with enough to want to theorize and figure out the key question that the game never gives you. So, in shorter words, a cult classic is what I'm hoping to create.

Character Bios:

1695j6w.jpg

Ms.Rosey is a talented and clever mare at the age of 21, skipping ahead a few grades she is now on her way to attend collage. She's caring as well as even a bit harsh at times, when she starts on a problem she never stops until it is solved. She arrived in town to meet an old childhood friend, being a Earth pony she is strong in both will and psychical strength.

o5tkpl.jpg

Mr.Pendleton is a young stallion at the age of 21, like his sister he skipped a few grades and is a very bright young mind. His only goal in life is to become the first Earth pony to teach at Celestia's Magical School For Gifted Unicorns. It's a great feet and even a bit impossible, but he knows nearly everything about magic and believes everypony are equal in and outside of school. He can be a bit closed off, keeping his thoughts to himself as he runs them over and over again inside his head.

292wr2t.jpg

Butter Joy is a old friend of Ms.Rosey, having met as foals the two had always stayed in touch. Despite this she had never fully met Ms.Rosey's brother, Mr.Pendleton. Butter Joy co-owns the same inn that Sky Pop runs although she mainly just keeps the pub in check, usually every night she keeps the pub open and shares a drink or two with friends. She's very happy and content with her life, but every now and again she wonders what it'll be like to be married.

30t6szq.jpg

Sky Pop is Risky Town's resident mayor. She's often very busy and commonly can be found doing paperwork since Butter Joy keeps blowing it off. She can always be found inside her inn, though don't disturb her unless she's expecting you. Sky Pop is usually a friendly sort, but the more work she has to do at once the more she'll let her annoyance show when interrupted.

14ijxmu.jpg

Posey Fritter is as honest as Applejack, maybe just a little too honest. She isn't afraid to speak her mind at all so if you have a secret to keep, you might be better off not telling her. She'd never tell a secret, but that doesn't mean she won't tell others she has one. Posey's family is among the important, if not "the" most important family in town as they keep the town running. She really loves her dad who often is away on his wrestling career.

72tz43.jpg

Crystal Pop is a very brilliant mind and inventor. She finds it really unfair how Unicorns and Alicorns can use magic for just about anything, but all the other races can't. So she made it her life's mission to create things that'll help non-magical creatures in their daily lives. When not spending time on creating she can often be found drinking at Butter Joy's pub. Luckily she never touches her inventions while drunk as she keeps everything behind a locked door, the key to which she gave to Butter Joy.

ofq14h.jpg

DO NOT CALL HER A FANATIC. While not a real country gal Jolly Taffy styles herself to be one and she will talk your ear off about it, and if you do just so happen to call her a fanatic she will never shut up until you admit she's a real country gal, something Butter Joy learnt the hard way. Jolly Taffy is usually a polite mare and very nice to get along with, just prey she never meets Applejack and if she does, prey even harder.

29o1mvc.jpg

Bubblegum Precious is the only Crystal Pony in Risky Town, having moved there two years before. After being stuck in limbo by King Sombra's curse for nearly 1000 years she needed a change of scenery, and along with her close friend Bubble Rain, left the Crystal Empire for a new life someplace new. Since Crystal Ponies naturally never gets a Cutie Mark they both fit in pretty well. Her talent is building and was recently tasked to repair some old buildings in town, currently she has a bet with Butter Joy about whether or not if she can fully repair and refurbish the town's Church within just five days.

3450d4y.jpg

Bubble Rain is the town's nurse and a close friend of Bubblegum Precious, having arrived in town with her 2 years before. Despite being a nurse she is easily sick and has to keep her mouth and nose protected at all times, luckily the town rarely needs her talent but that doesn't stop her from helping out with other tasks. Why she has no Cutie Mark is uncertain, but the town doesn't really notice her lack of a CM. Her talent might have something to do with her nose as, despite her weak immune system, has a very strong sense of smell.

1jtes0.jpg

Milkshake Dancer is the twin sister of Poppy Dreams and is the most active of the two. She can get very aggressive at times as she hates waiting around and much more prefers to be out doors. But with the passing of her grandmare she now has to co-own the family's store with her sister. She can be a bit slow in catching on to things but her athletic abilities can rival that of Rainbow Dash and must like with Jolly Taffy, prey that the two never meets.

34rzuwi.jpg

Poppy Dreams is the twin sister of Milkshake Dancer and is the least active of the two. While her sister likes to be outside and get messy, Poppy Dreams prefers to be indoors and keeping a calm life. She is very good at math and usually figures out things a lot faster than her sister. Throughout all her talents Poppy Dreams has two weakness, she's shy, really shy. She usually hangs back and mainly observe everything rather than get involve herself. Currently she co-owns the family's store with her sister, no doubt her late grandmare's way of getting her to open up more.

14ioiub.jpg

Jugar Drops is, like Poppy Dreams, a rather shy mare who usually gets too nervous to speak. The more she pulls at her mane the more nervous she is, despite this she is a very good planner, having planned more than just a few parties before when she was a young filly. Now or days she can be found at the town's jail, which her dad owns. She has a little sister that is currently away with said dad for Father's Day.

fw84h.jpg

Pinkie Pie is one of the 6 Elements Of Harmony, her Element being that of Laughter. She loves to throw parties and see her friends smile, which she has a lot of. Pinkie Pie can usually be found hanging with one of the Mane6, the other five Elements, or planning a big party. As a filly she grew up on a rock farm and she has three sisters. It's unknown when she moved to Ponyville to live with the Cakes, currently she's in Risky Town awaiting her sister, Maud Pie, and a few other friends.

10r2rfk.jpg

Applebloom is one of the three founding members of The Cutie Mark Crusaders, a group devoted to help any and everypony with their Cutie Mark problems, though originally it was devoted to the three actually getting a Cutie Mark. Applebloom is the younger sister of Applejack, the Element Of Honesty, and lives in Ponyville working on her family's apple farm. Like with her sister family is very important to her, and she tries to be honest but finds it to be hard to keep up. Currently she's planning with her friends, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo, a way to help Risky Town get their Cutie Marks.

x3socp.jpg

Sweetie Belle is one of the three founding members of The Cutie Mark Crusaders, a group devoted to help any and everypony with their Cutie Mark problems, though originally it was devoted to the three actually getting a Cutie Mark. Sweetie Belle is a very kind and polite filly who looks up to her older sister, Rarity, as her own personal hero, Rarity is also the Element Of Generosity. While she is seen as a lovable filly she can, at times, be totally evil and just right down cute, although she never hurts anypony her anger can be felt through her stares of pure fire. Currently she's planning with her friends, Scootaloo and Applebloom, a way to help Risky Town get their Cutie Marks.

6nts2o.jpg

Scootaloo is one of the three founding members of The Cutie Mark Crusaders, a group devoted to help any and everypony with their Cutie Mark problems, though originally it was devoted to the three actually getting a Cutie Mark. Scootaloo is the most active of her friends, being a pure master with her scooter she had won more than just a few talent shows. She looks up to Rainbow Dash, whose the Element Of Loyalty, as her very own big sister and she idolize Dash more than life itself. Scootaloo is a fast learner and is rarely scene with her family, why this is uncertain but the same could also be said with Silver Spoon. Currently she's planning with her friends, Applebloom and Sweetie Belle, a way to help Risky Town get their Cutie Marks.

29e6fiw.jpg

Speedy may look like a mare, but rest assure he is a full grown stallion. Since a young age he had always been by himself, forced to live and grow on the streets he had to mature far faster than a young foal should have. Luckily on one fateful and rather rainy day, he was found by none other than Princess Celestia who took him in. For a couple of years he was raised by her after her attempts at locating his family all came back empty, this no doubt is likely why Speedy is so kind and polite, although he hardly ever acts it as he is often always active. He loves to explore and run. While Celestia did her best to raise Speedy he was bullied something awful and even as an adult couldn't make real friends, that changed the day he was sent to live in Ponyville.

jrtu6h.jpg

Axl, like his brother Speedy, may look like a mare but he is a stallion. Much like his brother Axl was homeless and alone on the streets until he was found by Zecora who took him in as her very own son. Being raised by a zebra who made a home inside the last place you'd want to ever take a child, the Everfree Forest, Axl didn't have many childhood friends save one Changeling that lived in the forest. Axl isn't one to be widely open but is trying his best to change that after recently being reunited with his brother. While living with Zecora Axl picked up on her talent which was brewing potions, however a new interest sparked up after he had seen Octavia playing in a music show. Like his brother he doesn't have a Cutie Mark, which is odd but neither of them seems to really care.

33de0qa.jpg

Silver Shadow is one of the few ponies that Speedy ever really called a friend. While he was born as a Pegasus he now lives as a batpony which is sadly becoming a extinct species. He was born and raised in Canterlot until a family conflict forced him to leave. During this time his life took a turn for the worst as he took up drinking and wanted nothing to do with life anymore. Luckily in recent time he had reunited with both Speedy and his younger sister who had moved to Ponyville. His life is in a far better state now as he's putting it back together one year at a time. Just never give him alcohol, Speedy will punch you for it.

The killer is an unknown pony of an unknown gender. Nopony knows who he/she is or why their eyes is set on Risky Town. This is likely a copycat, not the real famous killer know as Slash, The Faceless One, whose murder spree dates back more than an 100 years ago and who had been copycatted throughout the years. The only one who is even aware of the killer's presence is Ms.Rosey/Mr.Pendleton, due to the killer calling and taunting her/him before each murder.

Credits:

Well at the time of this current alpha the credits would be:

Rainbow Jello and Recife for the blood titles, Jet for the chase script, Eric Matyas for the game's main theme ( www.soundimage.org ), Rikifive for her help with the chase script I had to give up on, D.S.Sirius for telling me branches were a similar way to collect and reuse letters, William TheUnproPro and Mystic Sword Gaming for their video tuts over at youtube, Wewius for allowing me to use his scroll vectors (with minor edits) from DA.

Avery for the telephone sprites, Enterbrain and Flaming Teddy Productions for the hospital room, ~JV~ as well as Twitch for a few custom items, and Silvergunner for helping me by test playing. Also I would like to credit Conan McPhee (http://pinkamenathegame.tumblr.com/) as without his permission to adopt the randomized characters in his game, then all of the OCs (least Speedy, Silver Shadow, Axl, and Yumi Everton) wouldn't had existed.

Screenshots:

NEW image of the killer, as well as what he/she would look like in the Equestria Girls world. You can already see the killer in the game's main title, so not really a spoiler.

Features:

Turns out, and thanks for Silvergunner trying this at pure random, you can use a controller to play the game! Tho he did so by using Xpadder, which is a free program that lets you use PC/Laptop/emulators with a controller. Give it a try if you prefer a controller over a keyboard! Also the key feature to the game, after I fully write it all, are different possible paths and cutscenes. Ugh it'll take a long time to write all of this. XD

Hi Darkness Void,

Yup, that's what we mean by editor.

It may prove favourable to upload your screenshots to a host site like imgur; then people can see them without following the link (you can also go the extra mile with making picture titles and stuff). Member also tend to divide the sections with spoilers; makes it a bit neater I guess. Think of that first post as like an ad for your game - the better looking ones tend to get the most attention ;)

Anyways, that's just some general advice. For now this has been approved and you've been awarded your achivement :3

Well Mediafire no longer allows me to copy the pics url, plus the pics just shows up are white boxes....so it was either links or nothing. :/

Also a friend tested the demo and pointed out a few bugs, I'll try to fix those tomorrow. And neat. ^^ Hope to post a lot more to this in the future.

Updated the topic with new info and a new/updated demo for the game. I'd figured updating that would be better than just posting a new reply that'll get buried and lost under many more. Btw, can I link my patreon or would that be a be no?

I've finished the demo. (=

I gotta admit, that's a pretty interesting game. At the beginning, things were happening kinda too fast ~ you're not really introduced to the story setting etc.. What I'd love to see would be a proper introduction cutscene with all the things, that happened before she (I was playing as female character) got to that town. Ponies were referring to various things, that I wasn't aware of in the first place.

The game gets interesting in later stages, when the 'action' actually starts. I admit it made me kinda curious, but the demo ended there.

Pony portraits appearing during conversations is a nice touch - it makes reading dialogues more enjoyable.

Sadly, seeing RTP graphics kinda hurts, as it absolutely doesn't match the source material. If the maps were MLP-styled, then the game would be many, many times better, due to obvious reasons. It just kinda looks funny when the game includes colorful ponies, but there are human-thingies and structures all over the place. However, I know it's difficult to handle that, so I can't really blame you for that. The story itself and some visual aspects make the game nice already. The effort is visible and that's important. ;)

I can't really tell much about the story yet, as obviously I saw only a part of it, but it was making me more curious along with progress, so that's a good sign. ;)

What I disliked?

Kinda the character development. I'm not sure if those were OC's of yours or your friends, but at some point I was just disappointed. There was a pony, that apparently was Princess Luna's son... I'm not sure if that is true, perhaps I just misunderstood something or didn't get the joke, but if that is true, then that's not even a plot twist, but a major contradiction with the source material, which makes the game much, much less 'legit', thus lowering the quality of the character development and story. That's a fangame, so you really need to watch out for plot holes, unless you aim to make a parody of some sort. I know, that the game isn't really designed to be accurate to the source material, due to crime theme and such, but it still hurts.

The fact, that he's Luna's son doesn't bring anything to the story besides disappointment and holes, so it would be better to resign from that. Many ponies seemed kinda out of place and/or just weird to be honest, but at least they were pretty 'legit'. Though I admit, that I liked some ponies ~ for example those navy blue ones (I don't remember their names) were cute and really nicely developed - I didn't find anything bad about them yet. By the way you totally should put all the ponies in the character list on your thread ~ you have images and such already, so it would give your thread some colors, which would look nice. :3

Anyway, I'm really sorry if you or your friends (dependable on by who those OC's were created) will find that kinda offensive, but that's a really important thing to consider. There is a reason why the community generally dislikes overpowered OC's. Imagine seeing a random OC, that is Pinkie Pie's husband, for example - that would be just weird, not mentioning, that there probably would be plenty of Pinkie Pie's OC husbands made by others if you know what I mean. We all know that all is not true, so it's almost impossible to take that character seriously. I think it just unnecessarily harms your game. Though don't get me wrong please.

Other than that, I can't really complain. The rest seemed to be fine.

Well there's actually something else. In some cases you can interact with ponies, that start a cutscene with a pretty long conversation, for example CMC at the pub. Everything is fine, except the fact, that you can launch the cutscene again and again. This is kinda an issue, because there were ~4 ponies at the table and when I talked to one of them - cutscene, when I talked to another - same cutscene. That was just a trap. =P The same applies to that inventor-pony. Most of the games allow you to play the long cutscene only once ~ asking characters again gives you different, shorter responses. That's why I interacted with that inventor-pony again, after the cutscene ~ I thought she'll say something else like 'Please visit me from time to time to see the progress of my inventions!', not get me back in time and launch the whole cutscene again. Consider using switches for them. (=

Now the bugs I've encountered: (SPOILER ALERT!)

- When you'll get to the inn for the first time and go to the pub, the game crashes during cutscene when you'll talk to CMC. I don't remember what it was exactly, but I think it had something to do with pictures.

- When you'll bring the poisoned apple to the nurse and she goes to the house to get the whole bucket, you can enter the house again before going to sleep. If you'll do this, you'll be unable to get out as your character will be saying, that she needs to find these apples first, that aren't available anymore.

- During the second night, where the phone rings and the mysterious pony gives you a task - when you'll go downstairs to the first floor, where CMC have a room, you'll see two ponies going upwards through the walls and getting stuck at the top instead of sleeping in the another room. Now that was sp00ky. =P

- During nights, a tiny bit of light is coming from the character, however, the 'light' stops following the character in some interiors, such as the church.

And that's all I think...

Once again, don't get me wrong please. I'm not saying, that your game is bad. I think it's a nice game and I had fun playing this. Plus, it got me curious. ^^

I really loved the portraits ~ that's actually nicely done, though sometimes they aren't placed properly as they're getting below the message box. =P

Aaaaaanyway, great work and good luck with further development! (=

Oh, and to answer your question:

Btw, can I link my patreon or would that be a be no?
Yes you can, but only in your signature. (=

Speedy and Axl are my characters, Silver is my friend's, and the others were made for the game. I get why Speedy being Luna's son could be a plothole but---well, don't worry about it as I already have enough planned and that will be addressed. Spoiler:

Speedy isn't 100% Luna's son by blood, his original origins was Nightmare Moon using a spell to create him, but that would've been too confusing and needed a lot to explain. If you recall a line Axl said, about Zecora finding him as a infant, that gives you a idea that Speedy might be adopted too. And trust me, he will be important later, I wouldn't had brought that up if I'd just intended for him to be there. No, he will play a role later so don't worry.

Again, it'll all be explained later. And this game won't really be 100% canon to the show, but I do intend to reveal that the game takes place after S6's final. I won't out right try to explain everything, as that'll take away from the game and just be too text/backstory heavy.

As for the opening/characters, it's a alpha, and I still have a lot to write. Take Posey, I'll be writing more for her later on. It's just being the only one working on this takes a lot of time, so there'll be missing elements here and there until I get to them all. But I had planned everything, I just need to write them.

As for the title sets, I can't even get a single support at my patreon, $1 is rare for me to make so I really have no options but to use the default title sets/maps. Just have it is, if I can enough money (doubt it..) I might get somebody to make one more fitting to the show but that just isn't a option atm. At least I took the time and drew over 200 avatars for the game...at least I can draw a little. XD And I could make a list of them without any spoilers, been meaning to do that.

As for that Pinkie's husband bit, I'm perfectly OK with OCs if they have character and a story. Just creating them to be somebody's mate and nothing else is lazy and pointless, with Speedy and Axl I had years to build them up as real characters. And you always begin with the first meeting, a bit of a heated rant so another spoiler for EG4:

F TIMBER FROM EQUESTRIA GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My GOD WE GET IT he likes Twi and she might have a crush but STOP IT with hammering it in! Let us "see" them as real human characters, otherwise this is worse than Twi and Flash had ever been. Really, Timber is a good character but he just tries far yo FREAKING HARD to impress Twi and the film would not stop hammering it into our faces and as a result, I'm unable to enjoy the film because I cringe every single scene he's in because it's 99% of him trying to impress Twi.

So yeah, F TIMBER and whoever it was who decided "yes, force it into the faces of everybody nonstop until the film ends" Jesus Christ it is NOT that hard to write this stuff! I'm terrible at romance, but give me 5 mins and I could do this far better than the film. I agree Timber is a good character, but I just am unable to enjoy the film because of his scenes with Twi. I once made it perfectly clear as why I just hated every bloody scene Timber was in and I'll end the rant with it.

Yes, we "see" them crushing and liking each other, we don't "experience it" and we never will if they keep forcing it into our faces in every single scene they are together in.

So yeah, as long as the OC is a believable character their fine, but they need to have a character and a role outside "just a love interest" to be honest I really don't like seeing the Mane6 with other guys as I do kinda like them and with my OCD, yeah. ^^; I spend time thinking out my ideas and stories as they need to be believable otherwise they'll fall under and be forgotten. Would Harry Potter be the mass hit it became if Rowling didn't spent so long to plan it out?

I accept whatever I write will never be canon, but I follow the theory where there is a world for every possible outcome there is. Which when you think about, is 100% true. With all the films we create, with every game we play as well as every fanfic we read, we are seeing the characters in a totally different life. That isn't a bad thing, if the story itself is good and well thought out. So don't worry, with this game everything is already planned and everything you see will be important later on. Speedy will always be Luna's son to me, but it'd never will be canon but that's perfectly OK.

If I try to stick with the original origin of Speedy there would be plotholes, so I had to rework it. No big deal, just a alt-world with a different life for Speedy if he was born at a different time (originally he's the same age as the CMC, but as I had to age him up I had to change his history to better fit.)

Ah yes the reseeable cutscenes, keep in mind "this is  a alpha" it's not even close to half completed yet, so don't get too heavy on moments where characters either have no lines or repeat the same lines over and over, because it's still incomplete and I have to write everything, I repeat, "everything" 100% by myself. So you will be seeing those 2 quite common until I go back and write every option cutscene.  Atm I'm just sticking with the story/important bits, everything optional will be last so reframe from pointing this out as errors as it's not.

I even stated above in the edit I made that these were there and why they'll be there for a while. Just takes time to write everything, if I wrote and added every possible line there was before sharing the demos/alphas, then there "will be no demo/alpha" as when I release the game, it'll be 100% completed. But I want to share what I add and have people see the game and get interested, not 100% complete the game before sharing 1 single ver of it.

Sorry, had to get that out. XD It's not a error if the characters have no lines or resay the same lines, because I have yet to write what they say at those moments. If you talk to a few characters after learning something new, they do get new lines. So yeah, if the CMC repeats the same cutscenes it's because for that 1 moment I have yet to write what they say afterwards, as the game goes on make it a habit to check back in on the characters as they might move to a new location or have a new line to say.

The game crush-I tested the game a dozen times fort hose exact errors and the CMC in the pub never crashed the game. Do you remember exactly when it crashed? As in, how far into the cutscene?

Ah...I should've saw that error. XD I'll fix it.

I know that, I can't have the characters to auto-appear in bed and under the covers. So I had to make them walk into the beds, which I saw a glitch where if you reload a save that event restarts so really need to fix that. Maybe I'd just need to make custom sprites of the characters under the covers and use those.

As for the light, I use a para-event that reads the player's X/Y and that's how the light follows you. However the event needs to be in every map where it gets dark.

And no worries, there will be errors that I won't see so others have to tell me of them. As for the character avatars, yeah those a pain to set right. For most I have the picture's Y set as 17, but with others (the ones who are wearing a hat) needs a different placement. If only we could preview the pictures..aw well. XD

And OK, I'll add it then. ^^ Hope I didn't sound rude btw, part of my OCD is going into detail.

@Darkness Void, I've edited your post. Don't quote walls of text like this as it makes things look messy. Thank you! (=

Nightmare Moon creating a random infant-pony, that is not a temporary magical creature of some sort, but a normal, living pony? .. With a spell ? .. and just leaving him in a random place..? That's... interesting... No wonder why it would be confusing and difficult to explain. =P

Yep, it can't be canon, because there is a crime theme with actual killing, so that itself is what we'll totally not see in the show, though still, it kinda is surprising to hear or see stuff like this. ^^

Oh no worries, I've noticed it's in alpha stage. I just shared some of my thoughts based on what I could see in the current build. I know, that many things are work in progress and they'll be changed, but still, I'm not sure what exactly will change, so I mentioned everything I had in mind. Don't worry, I'm not judging the game. (=

Regarding Equestria girls~

Personally I really liked Legend of Everfree, especially the songs! x3. In my opinion, that movie was way much better than the previous one. But still, the first one is my favorite. x3
It was kinda weird sometimes and stuff, but I can't really complain. Generally it was a nice movie. I didn't find Timber's character bad at all. Speaking of characters, to be honest I don't really like Sci-Twi in general. Welp, I just don't like that interpretation of Twilight Sparkle and that's why I kinda disliked the third movie.

I see. Well, if you're aware of that, then I think that's fine. That's true OP/Important Out of Nowhere/Ultra-Colored-Glowstick OC's in games or whatever don't have to be bad as it all depends on the story and such. So as long as you have a good explanation and usage for this, then it should be fine.
Oh and don't get me wrong with this, I didn't mean to throw flame at your characters. Many of them are totally okay and even adorable. I really liked the design of ... aw I don't want to derp with names ~ those two ponies, that you meet at the beginning. They run a shop I believe? They were mentioning Flim Flam brothers ~ I'm pretty sure you'll know which ones I have in mind. ^^

It's not a error if the characters have no lines or resay the same lines, because I have yet to write what they say at those moments.

Yep, that's true, but playing the same long cutscene, that you can't skip can make the player not want to talk to anypony. =P
Besides, it doesn't always look good. For example, let's talk about that inventor-pony (I don't remember her name ~ I'm so bad at remembering names).
You're getting to her home ~ she's introducing herself and goes for her invention to show it to you. Nice. What happens when you'll talk to her after the cutscene? Out of nowhere, she decides to introduce herself again and go for her invention to show it to you. .. And you can't skip it. It wouldn't be that bad if you could skip the cutscene, if you're seeing it for the second time.
That's why talking to ponies at the pub was a trap - I wanted to talk to Apple Bloom - cutscene, okay nice, now I want to talk to Sweetie Belle - the same cutscene and I can't skip it. That was a trap! D: *watches cutscene again* ~ I'm not trying to talk to Scootaloo, just in case if that would be a trap as well. - that's how I felt there.  :D
I think a good solution would be to run the long cutscene once and then give them different lines to say. It's okay if they'll be saying the same thing afterwards (you can obviously make unlimited amount of different lines), at least you'll see, that the conversation progressed. - That, or make the cutscenes skippable when seeing them for the second time. ~It's just a suggestion though, not a complaint.  ;)

Hmm.. that's odd.
I checked it now and it crashed again.
What I did is:
- start a new game
- walk around the town and talk to ponies
- when done, go to inn to take your room and go to sleep, but before doing so, go to pub, where there will be ponies at the table
- interact with CMC -> they'll launch a cutscene where the game will crash somewhere in the middle. The error reads as follows:

CLGCWkZ.png RIP

Heh, that's totally okay.
As for character images, you could try using an image editing program. For example if you have GIMP, you could take a screenshot of the game with the message box open:

s2KTCoX.png

Get it to image editing software:

z1hwVTU.png

Paste pony pictures on top of it, for example CMC (taken from your OP) and move them around to make them placed properly:

35mcT84.png

And finally, get the X/Y position:

S5yl5nd.png

That being said, putting X = -2, Y = 17 as the coordinates when wanting to display CMC image should show them properly. Of course, if the origin is set to 'Upper Left', that is.

Hope I didn't sound rude btw, part of my OCD is going into detail.

Oh no worries, that's totally fine. Heh.. I also hope, that my previous reply didn't sound rude.  :D

@Rikifive

I assume you removed the quotes? And yeah, Speedy's original origin I thought about writing a entire story for but just never got around to it.

And as I said, my real only problem with EG4 is them forcing Timber and Twi's crush into our faces in every single scene---can you look at the film and find "just one" scene with those 2 together, that isn't filled with blushing or awkwardness? YOU CAN'T! Because everytime those 2 stares at the other the animators/writers turns on the "lovey dovey" switch which just takes away more than it added. I just can not watch the film without cringing at Timber's scenes, his scenes without Twi are good and shows him as a good character---but as soon as he and Twi notices the other BAM Starwars 2 levels of bad romance, wait  min THIS IS WORSE!!! DX

So yeah Timber really hurts the film for me, maybe I should go and make a personal edit that removes 99% of his scenes with Twi..EG4 is a good film but Timber can die in a fire, tbh I was screaming no at that near kiss...Jesus these guys just can not do romance in a film format.

You're thinking of Poppy Dreams and Milkshake Dancer, I'll be posting every character with a short bio soon. And is it possible to add a way to cut certain cutscenes?

I drew everything in flash 8, and that's odd...I'll have to look at that CMC cutscene again later. I do have Gimp but there's like over 200 avatars..it'll take a long bit to dot hat for all. What I did was just make a event that shows a image with a text box, and keep changing the Y placement until it fits.

EDIT: OK I tried the Gimp X/Y, it works, tho again gonna take a hour or so in it's self to dot his with all the avatars...eh, time = effort and effort = results.

EDIT AGAIN: Let me ask here to save forum space, I noticed a few times a little oversight. I have a character event move to a spot on the map that their suppose to remain in (like their in bed asleep), but if you save the game and then reload said save, the character event respawns and moves all over again (basically you can see a character get into bed, reload a save, and see them get into bed over and over again).

Can I fix it to where a event doesn't respawn/restart it's event due to reloading a save? I mean, look at it this way:

You see a cutscene, the NPC leaves the room, you save and reload, the NPC is back even though their suppose to remain gone and thus now their in 2 places at once all because you reloaded a save you made right after they left. OR the NPC could had passed out and you're meant to go get help, but if you save and reload instantly the NPC is back with no harm done.

That will be kinda----game breaking, and Idk how to fix it because, yeah I can have a switch but if the player saves and reloads the save before said switch is turned on...the event will just keep repeating the para-movement because RPG Maker doesn't take into account how saving can cause a event to start over upon reloading it.

Yep, yep.

I get what you mean. Though personally, I don't mind it that much. =P

Oh yes! Totally them! They were so adorable! x3 It is possible ~ I remember using one script for that ~ it was called 'Cutscene Skip' or something like this.

Oh it will require tons of work indeed, but at least character images will be placed correctly. You just need to do that once for each image ~ then you can store the coordinates for each of them somewhere and just refer to the list, when wanting to draw it again. And just to be sure ~ it doesn't have to be GIMP ~ it can be done in many often programs as well.

Hmmm.. I thought it saves all the events and even their position when you're saving a game. To be honest I don't know, I haven't toyed with that much. =P

@Rikifive

Well I still need to test them in-game to see if the avatars are placed right, mostly due to the hats. Idk why but it makes the images a bit bigger. I'm saving the X and Y placements down so I can remember them easily, not looking forward to editing them in every event..and can I see that script?

Well, and this is a a slight spoiler:

When you start night 2 go into the CMC room, save, and reload. You should see the CMC events repeating themselves moving up into bed.

Aw, didn't notice the reply, my bad!

Yeah, you can save the coordinates somewhere in a notepad or something and then just keep referring to these in future. Heh, I can imagine how much of work it will require.

I've used cutscene skip script in one of my projects and I can't complain (I can tell you in which one in case if you'd like to see an example / how it works and looks like). With proper configuration it did exactly what I needed. Let me see how it was called.

It's this one: TDS Cutscene Skip

I'll try that out tomorrow, if I run into any errors I'll let ya know. ^^

Okie dokie!

Also, I like the full character bios section. =)

You know what would be nice? A journal-in-game of some sort. Let's say you're meeting a pony - some basic information, that you've gathered would be noted down there. That always would nicely fill the menus with some content and would be helpful, when characters would be mentioning other ponies. ^^

I'd would need to know how to add that, but was something similar I originally intended to add.

I've made a silly script long time ago, that basically shows images. Something like a slideshow, except you had to browse images using directional keys. As simple as this, but you always could put some instructions/info in the menu that way...

If I'd be jobless, thus have much more free time, then I'd modify it or write a new script for you, so it would be doing exactly what you need. However, sadly I have many other things on my head at the moment...

I think it would be worth to ask the community for help with this. I believe it shouldn't be hard to write and that should be a pretty interesting thing to work on. ^^

I'm pretty sure it could be achieved even through eventing, but that would be an unnecessary mess. Scripting it would be much more efficient.

@Rikifive - So that's what the label button is for! I had no idea what it did. ^^; And I might ask about that later. Question, what does he mean by:

"To check whether or not an evented cutscene was skipped you can add this to a conditional branch on the 4th tag in the script line.

cutscene_skipped?"

I'm not sure what he means, a common event? A new script?  I hate when people aren't clear as they should know not everyone will be masters at this stuff..OH he must had meant the script command on Conditional-Branch Page 4.
