Makara 96 Posted January 25, 2017 It does good for games, but of course, each engine has some pros and cons. Imo you should get MV. People always making plugins for it.
lianderson 122 Posted January 25, 2017 I personally use ace and have no intention of ever moving to MV. That said, MV is good on facesets, uses java instead of ruby, has a better resolution, and can go to mobile, but from what I understand it still suffers from a significant lag problem. And as someone who uses a lot of in game lighting, that´s a deal breaker for me.
Tarq 746 Posted January 25, 2017 When MV first came out there were a lot of these threads floating about so if you search around the forum you can find some direct comparisons. Tbh, in terms of technical capabilities there's not a lot MV has to offer over Ace but a few popular things can be done more easily like the in-built sbs. With this in mind MV probably is better for newbies (if it ever gets rid of the bugs it shouldn't really have been released with) but any advanced users looking for a change should probably look outside of the franchise.
Rikifive 3,411 Posted January 28, 2017 Ace is good for games. That's true it's pretty limited and its performance is terrible, but this engine is neat. (= MV has improved features and all that stuff, so I believe it would be a better choice if you'd be starting your adventure with RPG Maker. Personally as a somewhat experienced Ace user, I don't want to move to MV. If I would be into moving to another engine, then that definitely wouldn't be any of RPG Makers. -that is what I did. I've heard, that MV is pretty buggy and stuff, but nothing major I think. It's really up to you - the main difference is the scripting language, so it's better to stick to one, that you're familiar with.
