Naming It

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I don't know what i must say. But in this section, i will ask you all something about game design.

The first one is i want my game is in some another universe that we must built it first.

So, can you all help me to devine the name of this universe?

And how much the planet inside of it?

And what the main source like The Sun in this planet?

Just that for now. And will be expand if we compleate the creating.

The answer that i choose it will be credited in the game if the game released. Thank's.

I don't know what i want in my game yet. I think it will be long adventure and story. But i need to decide my own universe, own planet, own world. But i think that you all must get involved in this. So just help me first in creating the universe. And the planet. Heheehe

Can you give me advice for start making a Game? Is it important to make our original fantasy world or universe or even the planet?

If so then help me to naming our universe.

What kind of game do you want your game to become?

And also, are you kinda just starting out or have you dev'd some games before?

And hmm, start small if you're doing the project by yourself (just my humble opinion)

Like just start your story with just a continent for the world map then just add the rest by doing sequels, etc.

For your first game you should just make a short story. 20-30 min of gameplay tops. I'm speaking from experience, I was overambitious with my first and it was very demoralizing to not being able to complete the project. To many hurdles I didn't know how to overcome and the scope meant that I would have needed to work on it full time just to finish within a few years. Whatever time frame you imagine yourself needing, it's wise multiply it by 10. Don't bother making a full universe for your first game, if you can get to shipping it you would have made it further than most who try their hand at game making.

But i think that you all must get involved in this. So just help me first in creating the universe.

This line bothers me. Game making is a creative process, you will spend a lot of time just coming up with minor things. Like types of mobs/equip/items and other gameplay things in general. The community is in my opinion very helpful overall. But you will have to narrow your questions.

Ex.

"I want to implement [insert your idea] type of boss. What could be fun gameplay features?"

or

"Would this [insert your idea] kind of mechanic add to the experience or would it just be nuisance?"

What you seem to be saying (Correct me if I'm wrong) is "Help me design my game", we love to help but we are NOT here to do the work for you. I'm not saying this to put you down, just trying to give you some helpful advice.

Here is a sample pitch you can use.

"Guy sets out to slay the dragon that ate his wife."

It has everything.

  • Tragic backstory
  • Two potential motives Vengeance or Altruism (Preventing others from befalling the same fate)
  • Final boss.

No more elaborate than that is needed for a first project.

As for names, I'm no good with those. But there are some interesting name generators out there, in lack of any better ideas they can help getting the creative juices going. ;)

It will be easier to decide how to build your universe once you have a basic story idea. Creating a universe in it's entirety is a huge project. If you;re going it alone, you may want to scale that down a bit to a solar system or a single planet. The rest of the universe can be part of the history. We've named any galaxies but mankind has never actually traveled outside of our own solar system.

Get basic ideas of your story, characters, battle system/gameplay down first. Once you have a good foundation you can begin building.

You all true. Let's just built it, in some place in one kingdom, and 3 town, with 1 forest. Without mountain. Haha.

Thank all. You all helping.

Again, Thank you all.

Eyyy, don't sweat it.

Just focus first on the small ones, then just keep track of your storyline little by little (like keeping them on track on a Word File, Notebook, etc.)

Then if you keep at it at that pace, you'll just suddenly realize that you've created that universe that you aspire for.  :giggle:

Good luck. :)
